Alright; since a lot of you really liked Part one, I figured it was high time to do a part 2!
As a nurse, my information and knowledge has increased and what better way to celebrate by sharing with the rest of you? Totally not because I love this shit too-
This is MUCH more in depth (because my dudes I know WAY too much)
Tumblr media
Drugs have many categories, some of which I have touched on before. These included sedatives, hypnotics, addictive drugs, insulin, hallucinogenics, and anesthesia.
Other drugs that are underutilized include:
๐˜”๐˜ถ๐˜ด๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜น๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ด
These are fun! Not for the whumpee of course, but regardless--
๐šƒ๐šข๐š™๐šŽ๐šœ:
antispasmodicsย
antispastics
Yes they are different
Why
idfk
they just are ok
๐š‚๐š’๐š๐š—๐šœ/๐šœ๐šข๐š–๐š™๐š๐š˜๐š–๐šœ
Commonly, these cause drowsiness / fatigue
Nausea / vomiting, dizziness, headache, dry mouth--
Decreased Blood pressure (which can be used in MANY things here)
Hallucinations!!
Seizures
Time for the dancey dance on the floor!
Respiratory depression (Breathing is much less).
Coma!! night night!
Cardiac arrest :(
๐šƒ๐š›๐šŽ๐šŠ๐š๐š–๐šŽ๐š—๐š
Cholergenics!! It's a type of muscle stimulant, which does try to reverse these effects. It's not always 100% effective, but it's better!
๐˜–๐˜ฑ๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด
Pain killers; HIGHLY addictive, great for fucking with the whumpee mentally. Getting tortured, but can't feel the pain? Oh go D- Good soup!
๐šƒ๐šข๐š™๐šŽ๐šœ:
Agonists
Partial Agonists
Antagonists
๐š‚๐š’๐š๐š—๐šœ/๐šœ๐šข๐š–๐š™๐š๐š˜๐š–๐šœ
Obviously, pain is yeeted! Maybe not entirely, but it's MUCH better than what it would've been.
With this comes mental distress at knowing what's happening, even if they can't quite feel it.
GOD the possibilities
Unhealthy crunch--
Sedation is a common side effect, but so is delirium and dizziness.
Nausea and vomiting is pretty damn common too
Tolerance builds after a while... and so does dependance >:)
Oopsie withdrawal go brr!
Respiratory depression!! Breathing doesn't go brr right.
๐šƒ๐š›๐šŽ๐šŠ๐š๐š–๐šŽ๐š—๐š
The antagonists help reverse the effects. naloxone, or Narcan, is a SUPER common one used. But be wary... pain is comin' back and it's comin' back HARD.
These are great if you have high blood pressure! However, what happens if you give them to someone with regular blood pressure?
๐šƒ๐šข๐š™๐šŽ๐šœ:
Calcium channel blockers
Thiazide / loop diuretics
Beta-blockers
ACE inhibitors
(there are many more but these are common)
๐š‚๐š’๐š๐š—๐šœ/๐šœ๐šข๐š–๐š™๐š๐š˜๐š–๐šœ
Note: I haven't experienced this but I have taken care of someone who has had this happen.
Ofc, their blood pressure is going to TANK. This is knows as bottoming out (NOT THE SEXUAL KIND).
This shows with diaphoresis (sweaty as FUCK), extreme shakiness, pallor, and extreme dizziness.
Trying to take their BP usually results with not being able to find it (at first). Takes MANY tries.
Usually very weak, this can lead to falls or other concerns similar to that.
Good soup
Can kill if not rectified.
๐šƒ๐š›๐šŽ๐šŠ๐š๐š–๐šŽ๐š—๐š
Can be treated with IV fluids, raising the feet, and emergency antidotes (this is determined by the class of antihypertensive taken).
Whumper will prolly not do these--
IVs are a PAIN to put in because-- the pressure is yoinked, so the veins are basically FLAT.
Not too surprisingly, if you take antidepressants when they aren't prescribed it doesn't end well.
๐šƒ๐šข๐š™๐šŽ๐šœ:
SSRIs (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors)
SNRIs (Serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors)
MAOIs (Don't take anything else 14 days after discontinuing -- BP go U P and can kill)
Tricyclic antidepressants
(antipsychotics are a part of this, but I want to do a section on it's own)
๐š‚๐š’๐š๐š—๐šœ/๐šœ๐šข๐š–๐š™๐š๐š˜๐š–๐šœ
Obviously it makes anything that was there worse more than likely-- there are certain meds that do not vibe with people (Wellbutrin for me) and it gives BAD side effects
It varies with each drug, but the normal s/s tend to be nausea / vomiting, insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, decreased alertness, sexual changes (increased or decreased libido), GI bleeding, anxiety, anorexia, increased appetite, seizures, fever, irregular heartbeat
Fucking SJS (Stevens Johnsons Syndrome) and TEN (Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis) is on BASICALLY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE
SJS starts off as a rash. If there's no reason determined, it's this. Fucking stop the meds.
TEN is similar. Both can lead to Sepsis, and death.
Bad lime.
Listen ODing on these is NOT hard if you don't know SHIT about it-- and the withdrawal can be awful too
Giving a whumpee a 'way out' but it's just enough to give them awful side effects??
Best Soup.
๐šƒ๐š›๐šŽ๐šŠ๐š๐š–๐šŽ๐š—๐š
Benadryl can be useful, as can tapering the dose over time (ofc the whumper prolly won't do either).
Holy shit dude these are a bad time-- a VERY bad time-- if you don't need them.
๐šƒ๐šข๐š™๐šŽ๐šœ:
Typical antipsychotics (older, much worse side effects)
Atypical Antipsychotics (Newer, less side effects)
Anticonvulsants
๐š‚๐š’๐š๐š—๐šœ/๐šœ๐šข๐š–๐š™๐š๐š˜๐š–๐šœ
Things used as mood stabilizers (Such as Risperdal, Haldol, Zyprexa, Seroquel) can cause mania if used in those w/o manic disorders.
Mania is a TRIP.
#god mode
nothing can hurt me
fucking try me bitch
I'll end you
Energy energy energy
You can't stop me
Anygay
It can also cause MASSIVE depression spikes.
Something tells me a lot of you know how to do that bit
Psychosis can occur!
whoops you get to see, hear, smell, feel, and taste things that don't exist!
Pseudoparkinsonian side effects are common-- super shaky, your gait (walking) is fucked (more of a shuffle than step).
Tardive Dyskinesia is BAD. No control of facial movements, drooling, many facial tics.
Hallucinations :D
Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome.
This one is DEADLY.
Shows as muscle stiffness, fever, and delirium, fucked mental and autonomic functions.
Anxiety, yeeted periods, blurred vision, fluid retention (heehoo swelling), diabetes, dry mouth, hypersomnia / insomnia, loss of appetite / thirst, possibly even death
oops ur ded now
I highly recommend you research this, drugs.com is a good resource
๐šƒ๐š›๐šŽ๐šŠ๐š๐š–๐šŽ๐š—๐š
fluid and nutrition (uh whumper says no)
muscle relaxants (which can lead to MORE whump-- just different kind)
antiparkinsonian drugs (to reverse the bad!)
๐˜”๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ค
Did u kno too much Tylenol (acetaminophen) can kill u?? It's a common ODed med-- if not then holy shit ur liver is FUCKED
Oops too much cough syrup leads to codeine OD-- I'm not making this shit up
Alcohol is a given but I wasn't sure where else to put it-- fuck yeah nonexistent cognition and impaired decision making!
Street drugs are dangerous. These can be laced with things such as Ketamine, Fentanyl, and god knows what else. (Whumper just gets their shit wherever they can).
You can get high off of Epsom salts.
That's right, I said it
If they give you ANY of these, along with herbal substances, it can make the effects much worse.
Don't fuckin use St. John's Wort for ANYTHING or WITH anything.
There are SO many more! If you have any requests or ideas, let me know!
I can also help when it comes to care for wounds, certain disease processes, or anything similar!
Use these as you will.. WITH WRITING. NOT IN PERSON. PLEASE.
I WILL FIND YOU AND I WILL EAT YOU.

PTSD dreams play into this so wellโ€”
Imagine the whumpee, who has been extremely skittish around the caretaker, is finally relaxing
And the whumper simply just.. sparks a PTSD dream.
PTSD dreams can be similar or the actual event, but that doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s always the actual perpetratorโ€ฆ
So imagine the whumpee, finally starting to trust n relax againโ€ฆ whipped back to the start of their progress from a dream.
A Whumper who has the power to enter dreams. They entered Whumpee's dreams and made them nightmares. Maybe they make them dream about a past trauma. Maybe they make a dream where Caretaker hurts them so bad that when Whumpee wakes up, they're outright terrified of Caretaker. Or maybe they trapped them in nightmares that they can't wake up from, as Caretaker and the team have to find a way to wake them up.
Feel free to add more!

Empty
Back in high school, Caretaker used to read all the time. Some of their favorite stories featured a hero who saved a friend or teammate kidnapped by the villain. At some point, the villain would always drop into a big speech about how they were going to break the person they kidnapped and defeat the hero. Sometimes, they even succeeded in breaking the victim, leaving them a submissive mess who apologized all the time and woke up screaming from nightmares.ย
There was one book that handled things differently. Caretaker couldnโ€™t remember the bookโ€™s name, but after the hero and their teammate were rescued by their mentor, both reacted very differently. The hero had been the stereotypical apologetic mess, but the teammate- their teammate had been different. They had become nothing. An empty shell that followed orders when given but couldnโ€™t do anything else on their own.
As Caretaker looked into Whumpeeโ€™s blank eyes, they couldnโ€™t help but wish they could remember the name of that book. If they could, maybe it would give them some clue as to how they could help their friend. The police hadnโ€™t told Caretaker what they had seen when they rescued Whumpee nearly a year after they had been taken. Caretaker wasnโ€™t sure they wanted to know.ย
Whumpee had a set schedule. They followed that schedule perfectly unless Caretaker told them to do something else.
Every morning, when Caretaker woke up, they found Whumpee kneeling beside their bed with their forehead pressed to the floor. That in and of itself wouldnโ€™t have been too bad if it werenโ€™t for the items sitting beside them. A new, clean set of clothes for Caretaker and a weapon. A bat, a knife, a lighter, or anything else Whumpee could find when Caretaker hid all the real weapons.ย
At first, Whumpee tried to cook every meal for Caretaker. They would ignore their own needs until Caretaker had eaten whatever they wanted. Caretaker had lost count of the times they had entered the kitchen to find Whumpee had reopened their wounds while cooking and was ignoring it. Theyโ€™d taken a while to figure out when Whumpee was trying to figure out what they needed to cook since they never spoke a word. If a meal was late, Whumpee would present themselves on hands and knees for punishment with several weapons nearby.
Those punishments were why all of the potential weapons were now hidden. It had taken them far too long to realize it, but when Caretaker refused to punish them, Whumpee punished themselves. Eventually, Caretaker even had to ban Whumpee from the kitchen. They caught Whumpee burning themselves after they had broken a plate while scooping up Caretakerโ€™s portion of the food.
That was the final straw. Any independence Whumpee had shown was gone. The only thing they would do was clean.ย
The entrance, the living room, the dining room, the bathroom, Caretakerโ€™s room and bathroom, the hallway, and finally, Whumpeeโ€™s room. Over and over again. They never took a break. For a short time, Caretaker took away their cleaning supplies for fear of what Whumpee may do with the potentially dangerous chemicals. Whumpee used their own clothes as rags and the hand soap from their bathroom. Caretaker had given them back with a strict order to never use the supplies as punishment.
Caretaker was starting to lose hope. They would never abandon their friend, but it was hard to believe anything would change. They had to tell Whumpee to change their clothes, to go to sleep, and even to stop cleaning long enough to go to the bathroom.ย
It really wasnโ€™t a surprise when Whumpee got sick. Of course, they didnโ€™t tell Caretaker anything was wrong. Whumpee passed out in the hallway. It wasnโ€™t hard to tell what had happened when Caretaker found them, though it did scare them. Whumpee had a high fever, their clothes were soaked with sweat, they were lying next to a puddle of vomit, seemingly having been on their way to the bathroom when they lost control, and their whole body was shaking.
If they were being honest, Caretaker was relieved. This way, Whumpee was forced to rest and recover. Caretaker could help with illness.ย
Whumpee woke to Caretaker washing the sweat off their body. Caretaker wasnโ€™t sure Whumpee was fully conscious. They flinched when Caretaker reached for them and let out a high whine. A real reaction. Caretaker almost cried.ย
They didnโ€™t react after that until Caretaker helped them sit up in the tub so Caretaker could wash their back. As Whumpeeโ€™s head moved further from the water, their whole body relaxed slightly.ย
Immediately, Caretaker asked if they would rather sit in a shower rather than a bath. Whumpee didnโ€™t react to the question physically, but Caretaker could see something that resembled confusion in Whumpeeโ€™s eyes. They took that as a yes and drained the tub, finishing with the removable showerhead instead.ย
Caretaker hummed a quiet lullaby Whumpee had mentioned their mother used to sing to them as they finished cleaning up Whumpee and the floor and put Whumpee to bed. By the time Caretaker wrapped a soft, thin blanket around Whumpeeโ€™s still shaking but burning up form, the emotion was gone from their eyes. One moment of weakness due to an illness wasnโ€™t going to change everything, but it gave Caretaker hope again.ย
They sat with Whumpee for a while, just humming and stroking their damp hair. It was nice. It felt real and normal. Caretaker didnโ€™t know who was more comforted by the contact, them or Whumpee.ย
It didnโ€™t matter, though. Caretaker needed to get some food and water for their feverish friend. Maybe even some for themselves too. They smoothed Whumpeeโ€™s hair where their fingers had messed it up and slipped quietly off the bed.ย
โ€œWait.โ€
The voice was barely more than a hoarse sigh. Caretaker actually jumped at the noise after so long being the only one in the house making any real sound.ย
They must have imagined it. When they turned back to the bed, Whumpee wasnโ€™t even looking at them. Butโ€ฆ no. It was real. The changes were subtle, but after so long of the same blank empty, they were more obvious than a clownโ€™s nose.ย
Whumpeeโ€™s head hadnโ€™t shifted from where Caretaker had rested it on the pillow. The difference was that Whumpeeโ€™s eyes were closed instead of open, staring at the ceiling. Whumpee reached out to Caretaker with their left index finger lifted from its place on the bed.ย
Everything in Caretaker screamed as they fought the urge to snatch Whumpee in their arms and squeeze them until they both passed out from the excitement. Instead, they walked carefully back to Whumpeeโ€™s side, telegraphing their movements to show they werenโ€™t in trouble for speaking.ย
They continued humming and stroking Whumpeeโ€™s hair as they considered their options. Whumpee needed nourishment. They had no idea when the last time Whumpee had drunk any water. Yet, Whumpee had asked them not to leave them. Go or stay?
Why not both?
Caretaker explained to Whumpee what they needed and how they were going to take care of them. Slowly, careful not to upset Whumpeeโ€™s stomach with the movement, Caretaker sat Whumpee up and wrapped the blanket around their shoulders. Whumpee was lighter than Caretaker hoped they would be as they picked Whumpee up.ย
They sat Whumpee down on the kitchen counter long enough to grab some water bottles and some other supplies. Setting the bag in Whumpeeโ€™s lap, they scooped them back into their arms. It would be enough for now. They could care for Whumpee for a while and get whatever else they needed after Whumpee fell asleep.ย
There was no telling how this would affect Whumpee once they started feeling better, but for now, Caretaker was happy to hope and care for their friend.ย

Something I will never get tired of is prompts like this.
You know that someone has experienced this at some point in time. Maybe the writer, maybe the reader, possibly the person going to use this.
Don't be afraid to use your own experiences in your writing. If anything, it makes it more real.
Person A:ย โ€œHow could you?! You know how they feel about you!โ€
Person B:ย โ€œโ€ฆHas it ever occurred to you that how I feel, matters too?โ€

recovering Whumpee prompts
Whumpee who NEEDS to see everything around them. They will not let anyone, even Caretaker, walk behind them, they sit or stand with their back to a wall if possible. They're always looking behind them, constantly expecting Whumper there, even if it's just subconsciously.
Whumpee who makes themself as small as possible. They know their posture is taking a hit, but they draw in all of their limbs and hunch over in an attempt to be as small as possible. They're most comfortable this way.
Whumpee who has periods of time where they lose speech - partially or totally. During these, if they want or need something, they find it difficult or impossible to ask for it, and god forbid someone ask them about Whumper.
Whumpee who dissociates - their eyes grow unfocused at times and they always look confused or lost. They mindlessly follow Caretaker wherever they go, even when they're completely out of it.
Whumpee who has lost touch with their own self and feelings, and who notices that their breathing and heartbeat are speeding up. They notice their symptoms of having, say, a panic attack, too late to stop the effects.
Whumpee who has to be their own caretaker, whether that means stitching up their own wounds while biting on their wallet, or forcing themself up and out of bed in the morning.

uG H YES This is absolutely amazing Yes Yes I'm totally not going to use this Why would you think that Who let you in here
@writinggremlin
how to write a character who suffers a PTSD from their past toxic relationship, how they can react / what they might say in certain situations
trigger warnings for abuse, domestic violence, ed
how they can react in certain situations
โœ˜ avoid making eye contact, but will look up to meet caretakerโ€™s eyes immediately if caretaker tells them to โ€” for instance, caretaker is concerned about whumpee who keeps their gaze on the floor all the time; so, without thinking, caretaker says, โ€œ look at meโ€. it doesnโ€™t matter if they say it in a soft, comforting tone, they immediately regret it because whumpee quickly jerks their head up to meet caretakerโ€™s eyes, fully thinking caretaker will hurt them if they donโ€™t obey.
โœ˜ whumpee is used to receiving orders. they donโ€™t understand the concept of saying no and not being punished for it. so anything caretaker asks them to do (keyword; ask, whumpee can absolutely say no), whumpee will comply whether or not they want to (but they will do their best to make sure it looks like they want to).
โœ˜ avoid staying in a crowded room or even an open space. whumpee will most likely seek comfort from some quiet corner where theyโ€™re away from anybody and nobody can bother them.
โœ˜ an open space where thereโ€™s no one around can also bother whumpee, because itโ€™s not just about being surrounded by a lot of people thatโ€™s triggering to whumpee. being alone in an open space can make whumpee feel extremely exposed, like an easy target.
โœ˜ so mostly, whumpee will seek some quiet corner where they are alone and arenโ€™t easily seen.
โœ˜ they donโ€™t like being the center of attention or being talked about. because this can also make them feel vulnerable, uncomfortable and exposed.
โœ˜ physical touch that comes with no heads up, the ones that catch whumpee off guard, can result in a terrible reaction from whumpee, even if itโ€™s an act of affection (a hug, a friendly pat on the shoulder, etc), because whumpee has already associated all kind of physical contact with pain and violence. so if someone touches them, they reflexively expect it to hurt.
โœ˜ being jumpy in general. they may flinch away at any loud noise, any physical touch.
โœ˜ lack of opinions in general. if they have to engage in a conversation where more than two people are talking about something, whumpee will remain quiet. not because theyโ€™re shy but because they 1.) think their opinions donโ€™t matter 2.) are afraid they might say something wrong thatโ€™ll get them punished 3.) donโ€™t want to risk speaking out of turn.
โœ˜ whumpee expect themself to be punished if they make a mistake, doesnโ€™t matter how small the mistake is โ€” for instance, whumpee accident knocks over a glass of water, causing it to shatter, and immediately starts to panic, because they believe they will get punished for it.
โœ˜ the rules whumper previously set for whumpee may still be effective for whumpee, even if theyโ€™re with caretaker now; whumpee still follows whimperโ€™s rules because 1.) itโ€™s an old habit 2.) they just want to stay safe.
โœ˜ they can react poorly to food. whumpee may have no appetite at all, and can develop a wave of anxiety that can lead to nausea if theyโ€™re forced to eat. (this doesnโ€™t mean caretaker is supposed to just let them starve though, only that it can be challenging and caretaker has to be very careful about how they approach this, how they handle the situation to help whumpee.)
โœ˜ insomnia. whumpee having trouble sleeping at night, this can cause them to feel tired during daytime.
things they can say in certain situations
โœ˜ โ€œitโ€™s okay.โ€
โœ˜ โ€œIโ€™m used to it.โ€
โœ˜ โ€œI can be good. Iโ€™ll be good.โ€
โœ˜ โ€œI donโ€™t deserve this.โ€ (on being shown kindness)
โœ˜ โ€œitโ€™s what I deserve.โ€ (on being hurt)
โœ˜ โ€œwhy are you kind to me?โ€
โœ˜ โ€œIโ€™m sorry, it wonโ€™t happen again.โ€ (on making a mistake)
โœ˜ โ€œplease, donโ€™t be mad at me.โ€
โœ˜ โ€œIโ€™ll do better next time.โ€
โœ˜ โ€œyouโ€™re not angry?โ€
โœ˜ โ€œitโ€™s up to youโ€
โœ˜ โ€œeither is fine with me.โ€ (on being asked to pick something or to give an opinion)
โœ˜ โ€œitโ€™s my fault.โ€

Poison list
While it's important to approach writing with creativity and imagination, it's crucial to prioritize responsible and ethical storytelling. That being said, if you're looking for information on poisons for the purpose of writing fiction, it's essential to handle the subject matter with care and accuracy. Here is a list of some common poisons that you can use in your stories:
Hemlock: Hemlock is a highly poisonous plant that has been used as a poison in various works of literature. It can cause paralysis and respiratory failure.
Arsenic: Arsenic is a toxic element that has been historically used as a poison. It can be lethal in high doses and can cause symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, and organ failure.
Cyanide: Cyanide is a fast-acting poison that affects the body's ability to use oxygen. It can cause rapid loss of consciousness and cardiac arrest.
Nightshade: Nightshade plants, such as Belladonna or Deadly Nightshade, contain toxic compounds that can cause hallucinations, respiratory distress, and even death.
Ricin: Ricin is a potent poison derived from the castor bean plant. It can cause organ failure and has been used as a plot device in various fictional works.
Strychnine: Strychnine is a highly toxic alkaloid that affects the nervous system, leading to muscle spasms, convulsions, and respiratory failure.
Snake Venom: Various snake venoms can be used in fiction as deadly poisons. Different snake species have different types of venom, each with its own effects on the body.
Belladonna: Also known as Deadly Nightshade, Belladonna contains tropane alkaloids such as atropine and scopolamine. Ingesting or even touching the plant can lead to symptoms like blurred vision, hallucinations, dizziness, and an increased heart rate.
Digitalis: Digitalis, derived from the foxglove plant, contains cardiac glycosides. It has been historically used to treat heart conditions, but in high doses, it can be toxic. Overdosing on digitalis can cause irregular heart rhythms, nausea, vomiting, and visual disturbances.
Lead: Lead poisoning, often resulting from the ingestion or inhalation of lead-based substances, has been a concern throughout history. Lead is a heavy metal that can affect the nervous system, leading to symptoms such as abdominal pain, cognitive impairment, anemia, and developmental issues, particularly in children.
Mercury: Mercury is a toxic heavy metal that has been used in various forms throughout history. Ingesting or inhaling mercury vapors can lead to mercury poisoning, causing symptoms like neurological impairment, kidney damage, respiratory issues, and gastrointestinal problems.
Aconite: Also known as Wolfsbane or Monkshood, aconite is a highly toxic plant. Its roots and leaves contain aconitine alkaloids, which can affect the heart and nervous system. Ingesting aconite can lead to symptoms like numbness, tingling, paralysis, cardiac arrhythmias, and respiratory failure.
Thallium: Thallium is a toxic heavy metal that can cause severe poisoning. It has been used as a poison due to its tastelessness and ability to mimic other substances. Thallium poisoning can lead to symptoms like hair loss, neurological issues, gastrointestinal disturbances, and damage to the kidneys and liver.
When incorporating poisons into your writing, it is essential to research and accurately portray the effects and symptoms associated with them. Additionally, be mindful of the potential impact your writing may have on readers and the importance of providing appropriate context and warnings if necessary.

If you're anything like me, you find it interesting to mix the past few ideas (Drugs, sleep deprivation, malnourishment, waterboarding-- the good stuff). What would a good whump session be without a little psychological trauma?
Tumblr media

Psychological torture is defined as "torture that does not cause directly cause physical violence or injury to a person's body" (Wikipedia/Google).
Removing control over basic things (environment, schedule, attire/apperance, etc)
Sensory deprivation/Isolation
Humiliation
Gaslighting (much more minor/mundane, but is still just as serious. It can effect the victim for years to come, just like the aforementioned examples.
(a more exhaustive list will be provided at the bottom)
Oh boy--
As one would've guessed, PTSD and lingering psychological effects are abundant in this form of torture.
Though it may not have been physical, there is still similar levels of permanent mental damage.
It was devised by doctors and psychologists. The point can vary from usage, but in war it has been seen to break the victims. Once broken, they are much more compliant.
Here is the exhaustive list I mentioned. Other forms include but are not limited to:
Being subjected to prolonged interrogation sessions
Blackmailing
Chinese water torture (A youtuber actually proved that it does have negative effects. I was shocked to see this.)
Phobia exploitation
Mock executions
Forced Nudity
Drugs
Sensory deprivation/overload
Sleep deprivation
Waterboarding
White room torture
There are so many different things that could break a person, and each character is different. These tend to be quite effective when used in adjunction with other physical methods, or used together.
____
Note:
I will be doing another list soon, instead discussing physical torture. This post will be much, much longer, so I will break it up into multiple parts.
Happy whumping!
Disclaimer: this is for fictional characters. These things are meant to be done FICTIONALLY. Thank you.

Future writing pieces, unless requested on this blog, will be posted to my secondary tumblr, @writing-from-the-cosmos, Cosmos Writes.
This blog is shifting more towards prompts and tips (as you've seen). I do still plan on occasionally writing one-shots, drabbles, etc with fandoms, but know that most of those (unless requested) will be on the other blog.
Thank you!
