Fire-hosing of Falsehood!
Tumblr media
It is said to take less time to make up facts than it does to verify them.
The amount of lies that can be tolerated is the strange propaganda technique of "firehose of falsehood" where obvious lies doesn’t have to be relevant/admissible or even believable when told by people with power.
We characterize the contemporary Russian model for propaganda as “the firehose of falsehood”. A lie after lie after lie Russia seems to have enjoyed some success under its contemporary propaganda model, either through more direct persuasion and influence or by engaging in obfuscation, confusion, and the diminution of truthful reporting and messaging. Even obvious lies doesn’t have to believable but it is highly effectively as shown by the reports, to have influence on people.
Quite ironically fire hose means the use of hose to spray water on fire but this time it’s the truth and truth driven facts are being watered beneath by propaganda and its irrational /obvious lies& fabrications.
When caught with such colossal lies and fiction stories, they reason that they are entitled to their opinions which apparently does not have to exist in reality.
Traditionally This runs counter to the effective influence and credibility of the government. Be it Vladimir Putin of Russia or Donald trump, both leaders obfuscate the truth and makes an obvious lie of it absolutely denying the facts.
Tumblr media
The outright fiction stories or the propaganda stated by leaders truly confuses and overwhelms the audience, which makes them question even the truth that is in front of them.
However ridiculous this sounds it is effective from the report and research released by RAND specifically on Russian propaganda. Thus powerful leaders who have controls over press articles and reports benefit from telling obvious lies.
Two Characteristic of firehose of falsehood :-
No commitment to objective Reality.
No commitment to consistency & changing one’s own statement.
Even if you fact check to prove its fabrications ,It is sully and moot as you are a part of something that shouldn’t be in discussion in the first place. It is so ridiculous and humiliating as it has no effect altogether . To understand this we can see it in a way as ; in this era, a debate on shape of earth claiming it to be not circular but square.
Whoever Here has objectively more power owns reality.
Tumblr media
Where a statement such as:
“TRUTH isn’t TRUTH” can also be asserted .
Firehosing turn even the most obvious results into a messy mind numbing political fight. Something not qualified for debate starts into a scream match.
Where else have we seen this in our country. Hmmmm in the Hindu-Muslim debating news channels. which is mostly made up issues so it is obvious that these debates never comes to a conclusion. And circles around with screaming and obscene facts in vanity, solely for brain washing and negative entertainment.
As the outcome is obvious and already known , in search of such a thing hope is that you will get exhausted while proving it and that you eventually will give up.
What Can Be Done to Counter the Firehose of Falsehood?
Suggestion Is don't expect to counter the firehose of falsehood with guns of truth but to find ways to help put raincoats when the firehose of falsehood is being directed.—without arguments we take away their power .

Rosie The riveter We can do it!
Rosie the Riveter is an allegorical cultural icon in the United States who represents the women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II.
Poster’s stereotype is its message to empower women that women can do anything at all even if it is a job so archetypical to men like working in the factories, Women as her are portrayed attractive and confident. The poster uses Symbolism of a physically strong women to break down the boundaries and social norms.
A high demand of the wartime economy called for a re-evaluation of American women’s roles in society.
Tumblr media
In 1942, Pittsburgh artist J. Howard Miller was hired by the Westinghouse Company’s War Production Coordinating Committee to create a range of propaganda posters to encourage women to join the war effort, the Rosie the Riveter image not only exemplified the nationalism felt amongst U.S. citizens but also came to represent the generation of women who broke down societal boundaries
Poster’s information/message and call to action: -was to To inspire specifically the employees at Westinghouse Electric to keep churning out plastic helmet liners for the US war effort. In the face of acute wartime and labor shortage; the poster was aimed at encouraging those women who had never before held jobs to join the workforce.
Geraldine Hoff Doyle was the unwitting model for the “We Can Do It!” poster of a woman flexing her biceps in a factory during World War II. An image that then became a symbol for the new role of women in American society, encouraging/ invigorating women to join the war effort, which later inspired the feminist movement in 21st century.
The poster connects with the audience from the feeling of empowerment that women get from the look of the image of Ms. Doyle posing powerful and confident. This reminds them how they are suppressed daily when they feel powerless among a patriarchal society which wants you to believe that you are delicate and less powerful despite this, the poster creates an image of the type of women they want to see themselves to be, that is strong and confident with their heads held high.
The poster made women feel the Feeling of patriotism and work together in the effort.
Women responded to the call of need by stepping up to their duty, country was displaying positions filling with women that were traditionally filled by men.

Designed as the morale booster for the British public in 1939 as the second world war loomed ahead.
The stylish crown showcases the royal message that is directly reassuring the general public, the combination of red and white produces a phycological reaction which was in turn burrowed from Hitler’s “Mein Kamf”. The poster's straightforward yet unsettling message urges viewers/people to have perseverance amid difficult times. And emboldens you to keep doing what you've been without letting the prospect of difficulties stop you. It inspires confidence that no matter what, the period of blitheness will arrive; nonetheless, you should continue working hard until that point.
Tumblr media
The iconic poster flashes keep calm and carry on in White, capital letters underneath an image of a crown on a bright, grabbingly red background designed by the British ministry of information in 1939 wasn’t actually displayed during the conflict itself. most of the 2.5 million copies of the poster produced/printed were pulped by 1940.
When uncovered in 2000 The poster skyrocketed in popularity and it’s not often that a propaganda slogan translates particularly effectively into pop culture but in 2008 recession when a dusty copy of the iconic poster was re-discovered by two booksellers in Alnwick at the turn of the twenty-first century, it sparked people's interest/it rose to people’s attention .Now it may be the most popular meme in history. And unlike other memes, it has remained remarkably resilient, serving as a blank canvas on which virtually anything may be projected while still maintaining an air of ironic reassurance. It serves as the defining symbol of an era increasingly characterized by nostalgia for austerity. Keep calm and carry on is a slogan calling for persistence in the face of challenge. With other contemporaries’ The motto was still perfectly reflective of the UK’S stereotypical stiff upper lip.

The carping eyes sees you.
An atypical complex example of British first world war propaganda
This poster delivered a powder keg of emotional blackmail and guilt in the people.
It was Devised by Arthur gun and artist Savile Lumley prior to introduction of conscription in 1916. The poster was aimed at recruiting otherwise uninvolved but able men into the war
This propaganda poster was sought to persuade British citizens to enlist for military services.
Tumblr media
It does this by a range of propaganda techniques, first of all the main character is an attempt to connect with British middle-class men who had not yet joined the war front.
The poster uses symbolism of the toy soldiers, which the young boy is depicted as playing with. The fact that the man’s son is impressed by symbols of war begins to play on the audience’s emotions.
Thirdly, the text that accompanies the image, which is spoken by the daughter, inquiries about the man’s role in the war. The use of second person pronoun of “you” is a clear attempt to engage personally with the audience. This is reinforced by the fact that the man’s eyes are looking directly at the viewer. This shows the power of the eye contact that creates a question for the future ‘you’ of what was their role in the contemporary conflict and no self-respecting man would live in the guilt of not doing their duty. All of these techniques are combined with the intentions of generating the feelings of shame and guilt in the viewer.
The propaganda hopes that young men will feel embarrassed to admit to their future children that they were ‘too cowardly’ to join the war effort, demeaning the heroism which a father is to every child specially to his daughter. The tactic expectation is that the guilt would result in young men enlisting to fight in the hopes of being able to allay the shame produced by the picture. The daddy poster was so effective in fact that Gunn himself volunteered soon after.
This simple picture with absurd text and visual gave young men inspiration, encouragement and renewed vigor to enliven their life to war. The overall message produced by the propaganda poster is that real men will enlist in the war effort in the belief that their future children will be proud to know that their fathers did their part.
Through the dim dull eye/grave carping eye contact he sees in you his younger self and he is demanding an answer, pondering as to what were you doing when your people were suffering IN the war and war effort, what was your role in the serving your country he asks this TO YOU.
