The shape of a fish's caudal tail can tell you a lot about how fast the fish moves! A rounded tail is the slowest and a lunate tail is the fastest! The lunate tail has the most optimal ratio of high thrust and low draw, making it the fastest.

In December of last year, I got to observe three really unique and exciting fungi and one of them is uncommon to find along the West Coast of the U.S. The first picture is of some (Artomyces cristatus) that is not as common along the West Coast and where I found lots of them fruiting on a decaying conifer tree. The next fungus is of some (Cystoderma carcharias fallax) and the last photo is of some Earthtongues that I was searching for and glad that I found at a local trail system.
