msgalloâ:
* family shenanigans ft. gloria gallo ( @sotirisdeleoraâ ) on november 24th, collective embassy
when celia had her first boyfriend, she had just turned 19. she had chosen iniko yahaya out of her multiple admirers, much to her aunts dismay. the young man was barely older (about to turn twenty) and pursued the career celia still considered choosing as well - law and politics. while he was attractive and very much booksmart, his interpersonal skills sucked as much as his understanding of people. he was a literal stone, at least personality and taste wise (or just really bad at gift giving, since neither gloria or celia appreciated the obnoxious neon colored things he got each of them for their birthdays). sadly, the younger leoran womanâs sight had been blinded by young love (which led to them hanging out 24/7 in celiaâs room, where they spent a huge amount of time giggling. as if that hadnât been enough, his family also joined them for every festivity possible - celia still vividly remembered that one valentineâs day where iniko scattered multiple thousand rose petals all across gloriaâs place which he definitely did not help throw out after (she found rotten petals everywhere even months later).
though she finally realized what an idiot she was dating after a year, she dated him for a little longer, just to annoy gloria a little. she loved her aunt, of course, but she also loved getting on her nerves.Â
after her accident, she had vehemently declined any help from gloria, though sheâs sure that their bond has gotten thicker after all. thatâs why sheâs a little nervous to face her today - sheâs in company, and sheâs sure at least one of the people at the festival has told gloria about tiagoâs and her..vivid discussion. theyâre not dating, but public might think so, and sheâs sure that gloria is a little traumatized by her dating history (there was this one female engineer as well, which she dated for eight years and ended up leaving because who impulse buys twenty cats and moves to the other side of the planet just because?? followed by a very attractive professor who turned out to be a complete wimp after he cried for two full hours after cutting his finger on a piece of paper). sheâs not proud of her dating history, but out of all three exes, iniko definitely is her favorite.
nevertheless, she still approaches gloria (as quiet as possible, just to scare her a little), who is standing with her back turned towards her, leans forward and says loudly:Â âhave you tried to advance your cultivation rank through dorian yet or is that a niece and aunt activity we should schedule for next sunday?â
gloria had a reputation for knowing more than anyone thought she had a right to. the irony of it was, she very rarely sought out any such knowledge these days. most of the information she came across was given to her by her assistant, ivan, who had a penchant for gossip and the uncontrollable urge to update her on every scandal on the island. occasionally, he would also bring her news from off the island, or more recently, off the planet.Â
he was a very good assistant, but the councilor rather wished heâd skipped the update on celia. gloria loved her niece, she really did, but finding out sheâd had a rather salacious conversation - in public - with tiago ixora - had been something sheâd rather not have been appraised of.
jerking slightly as celiaâs loud voice interrupts her musings, gloria glowers as some of her drink sloshes onto her hand. sighing loudly, she shoots her niece a withering look as she waves over a white robot. âyou did that on purpose you little fucking grindylow.â setting her drink down on the robotâs tray, she grabs the cloth napkin it offers her and cleans her hand off before placing the used cloth on its tray and waving the machine off.Â
âand no, i have not done any drugs recently, nor do i intend to. malfeasance for the sake of advancement is not in my nature, and i am not so desperate as to turn to collective drugs when hundreds of our ancestors advanced without the need for such crutches.â a subtle unvoiced yet hangs in the air before the woman continues. âmarli woodglade is a brilliant woman but she is also irresponsible and quite a bit more free with her thinking. i have my doubts this dorian will be of any help to leorans without her personality..... quirks. you havenât done anything quirky lately, have you?â
gloria raises an eyebrow, folding her arms neatly across her chest. âyouâve been doing someone rather quirky, but I do hope youâre not aiming to give me an aneurism by doing two idiosyncratic things at once.â

local time: 30 october 2022. noon. location: city center. leoran market.
While enjoying the festivities of the Food & Wine Festival, you begin to notice a distinctive change in your vision. Colors begin to gently shift and blur until you perceive the world in painted brushstrokes. You have been dosed with a large amount of the Collective drug Dorian.
Before the Collective, Roz mightâve avoided an event like this one. It isnât the crowd, although itâs sometimes a shock to the system after their normally quiet days. Itâs the way anything remotely alcoholic makes their own community look at them like theyâre a childâit isnât lost on them that it was easier to steal drinks when they were a child, and it was just school kids playing at adulthood. Their friends from back then grew into something new, though, and Roz didnât.
But like so many things now, the promise of learning more about the other worlds beyond their own calls them to the first annual festival each weekend. They like the name too: first, like the council plans to do this each year, like Leora will continue to evolve around them. Roz is happy enough to focus on the stalls run by members of the Collective today, sampling from plates of unfamiliar foods and drinks.Â
Their cell phone translator canât keep up with the background noise and the side conversations, of course, leaving them lost half of the time. Last week, Roz remembers the frustration over that. Today, the distance makes the event feel almost dreamlike.Â
Itâs hard to feel bad, anyway, as they find themself a seat on a nearby bench, watching people from varying planets walk past. The slight breeze is warm as it blows past, causing the florals and greenery around them to rustle and shimmer slightly in the sunlight. Despite their fascination with the Collective and what they bring, Roz will never deny their love for their home planet. Leora is beautiful.
They trace the path of the breeze through the plants around them, eventually finding themself staring at the swirls of warm green, vivid yellow, and golden brown in a nearby tree. It stretches up tall above the market, nature intertwined with community in typical Leoran fashion. Roz watches a single point on the bark long enough that the edges of their vision go soft and indistinct.Â
That doesnât go away when Roz blinks, though. Nor does it go away when they reorient themself to the bench and their body, the slightly sweetened drink in their hands that was supposed to be some kind of juice. Even that looks softer, with the pale colors of the drink, the translucent glass, and their own hand holding it all melting together.
If theyâd noticed it sooner, before the sensation settled in, maybe they wouldâve been concerned. Instead, itâs fascinatingâfrom the well-worn patterns on the soles of their shoes to the composition of blues in the sky above them, the shift in their vision grows more evident as the moments tick by.
Their cell phone is, for once, forgotten by their side. Roz still catches the announcement when it comes though, particularly as it echoes throughout tablets and phones throughout the festival. The word Dorian gives them language for what theyâre seeing, although there doesnât seem to be an explanation yet for why someone did this. Roz trusts the council, though. Anyway, the quiet calm they feel and the unique perspective of the world Dorianâs brought them donât feel threatening. Theyâve already found a comfortable spot on the bench, so Roz sits back, tilts their head up to the sky, and enjoys the view.

Born March 31, 1954 on Afogoth in the Apien Crest Cluster, Russo immigrated to Palaven in his eighth collective year. His sun star sign is in Aries: âThe ruler of Aries symbolizes energy, health, fighting spirit, and leadership skills. People born under this sign are courageous and decisive in most situations in life.â
Just as Vito Russo isnât his birth name, March 31st isnât his birth date nor Afogoth his home planet. While these fabrications are as close to reality as he can get (the name given by his adopted father, the date V was adopted, and the planet Theran found him on), he would never believe the stars could read his future even if the information in his personnel file was accurate. He places about as much stock in those âsciencesâ as he would a business thatâd filed for bankruptcy: none at all. While he is less familiar with Leoran goldsigns, he doubts the validity of their 'readingsâ just as much.
If he were a Leoran cultivator, despite his doubts about goldsign rationality, he would be a sword goldsign. âIntangible and unseen, but also in constant movementâ describes his life to a T. Heâs never used a sword in his life, but knives are close enough⌠right? Regardless, he would never pay to have his fortune read. Even if a Leoran lantern goldsign offered him a free reading heâd be more likely to walk away halfway through their spiel than give the reading any actual thought.

plot drop, january 2022,Â
this mimics an appointment with a therapist sasha was âadvisedâ to take after finding out about her fatherâs disappearing.
January 2022 The Collectiveâs Vanguard Starfleet ship Tenax Propositi landed on Sotiris, a large island on the planet of Leora. Were you on the vanguard ship? If so, how did you feel about the diplomatic approach taken by Collective delegates? How did you feel about the Leorans? Were you interested in their magic? If you were on one of the following passenger vessels, what made you want to move to Leora? What made you finally decide to take the hyperjump?

@amala-thevarâ
The shambles that was the Food & Wine Festival is a blot on our Leoran culture! Itâs clear that thereâs only one person responsible for this and itâs Councilwoman Thevar. Does she know the effects of Dorian? Does she care? No! She only wants to advance her own Collective bias. This cannot stand. - citizen F.B., highgold
Amala rolls her eyes. âThe only people that sign things with their cultivation levels are Fucking Bastards, citizen F.B.â She mutters to herself in annoyance, a finger swiping on her tablet further down the forum. She knows that she shouldnât be reading the messages, even if some arenât as hateful as others.Â
Iâm not a native but I feel honour-bound compelled to tell you that not only is it a disgrace that the Council (and in particular Councilwoman Thevar) allowed this to happen on a planet that prides itself on being well-nigh-perfect, but the response was shameful! You could stand to take some lessons from other species. This is a public relations DISASTER. - One Who Knows
âPublic relations disaster my ass.â On paper, and video recording, Leora and the Collective were more unified than ever. Even if the bonds were still made of wet paper. âOne Who Knows nothing, apparently.â A snort and she shakes her head, scrolling past that statement too.
WE HAVE RECEIVED YOUR MESSAGE SISTER AMALA! WE STAND READY TO RESPOND! WE MUST NOT LET THE MOMENTUM OF YOUR DORIAN INITIATIVE FALL FALLOW! GIVE US YOUR SIGN AND WE WILL MOVE! [xx*flP]
Amalaâs previously amused smile fades as she reads the message. âWell thatâs concerning..â For one, sheâs an only child; sister to no one. Secondly, and more importantly, itâs been years since theyâve seen hints of extreme rhetoric like this. And the timing for it now is cause enough for concern. Her fingers tap on the tablet, sending a linked copy and a clip of what information sheâs able to pull from the account to both the councilâs own cyber security team and to Starfleetâs. Itâs only one message, and itâs likely nothing, she knows. But there are enough mentions of a âweâ in it to give her pause. Extremist groups are never just one person. And she doesnât love the idea of one setting itâs sights on her, no matter their intention.Â
Two firm knocks sound at her office door, and she barely gets through her answering call of âCome in.â before the door swings open and Gloria Gallo waltzes in. She sets the tablet down on her desk just in time for it to be covered by whatever it is that Gloriaâs brought with her on this unexpected visit.Â
Mildly taken aback by the sudden.. gift? Delivery? Amala sighs as she squints at the artwork; lifting it after a moment to give it a proper look. âThis got sent to you? Strange.â She offers in lieu of the proper greeting that she had yet to receive.Â
Art may not be her strong suit, but sheâd hardly call the piece a âderanged caricatureââ truth be told, she thought it was lovely. Thereâs an undeniable essence in the wildness of the brush strokes, the vibrancy and depth to the colorsâ sheâs flattered, but she knows better than to tell Gloria that. Nor will she tell Gloria that, lately, scoring an invite to her bed hardly required this much effort.Â
âCareful, Gloria.â Amala turns her own saccharine smile up to her colleague, leaning back in her chair as she does. âA weaker mind might think you were jealous.â
âWe know better of course.â What Amala does take solace in is: if this painting truly is some sort of public declaration of lustâ itâs probably been so long since Gloria Gallo seen such a thing that one of her aides had to be the one to tell her so. Though that thought too, is left unsaid.Â
âBesides,â She starts again, gently setting the painting aside for the moment. âYou clearly havenât seen some of the latest messages to come in.â Once again, she lifts her tablet in one hand while the other taps away; sending a screen shot of the last text she was looking at to Gloria. She can tell by the way the elderâs eyes lose focus that she received the image. âIt appears as though Iâve inspired some sort of cult. And we all know what those can entail.â The tablet is set back down onto her desk, and Amala folds her hands over her stomach, casually leaning back into her chair again. With a shrug of her shoulders she adds, âThereâs bound to be at least a few people who want to fuck me.â
Sensing that sheâs poked the beast too many times, Amala changes gears. âIâve already sent Starfleet and our own analysts the original message. Hopefully between the lot of them, they can pull enough information from it to find out who sent it and if we really do have a cult or some new group to deal with. Donât worry.â
Gloria snorts in genuine amusement - she has never had any interest in carnal relations, a fact well-known throughout the island. More than that, sheâd never had any interest in sharing her life with another, regardless of gender or societal standing. Celia was her only family now, and she loved the girl as much as sheâd ever loved anyone, but she would remain the only person Gloria considered family until the day her mana reunited with Leora.
Opening the link Amala sent, Gloriaâs eyes lose focus as she begins to read. The sharp laugh that escapes her lips gently curves them into a smile that borders between disbelief and amusement. Wryly, she dismisses the message and raises a perfectly manicured brow. âIâm sure you have no trouble finding bed partners, Sister Amala. Though, charismatic as you are, we all made the decision to come underneath the Collective umbrella.â Her expression changes until it looks like sheâs just bit into week old fish.
âI sincerely hope your support of the outworlders was the right decision, but I often wonder if war wasnât the better option for our people, even if many would have rejoined the waves.â Idly, she crosses her arms over her chest and taps a finger against her bicep. She had been a bit too truthful, but it wasnât like the younger cultivator could do anything with that comment. If her distaste for the Collective wasnât plain for them to see, they were far less intelligent than she thought.
âOf course Iâm fucking worried.â The retort has no real heat behind it, but itâs delivered in the same clipped tone Gloria always uses. âStarfleet has done absolutely nothing but prove to me how useless they are from day one. Their fucking monstrosity of a spaceport took far more room than theyâd promised, killing all of the vegetation there, and they patrol incessantly yet their drugs and their technology continue to pollute every corner of this island. Twenty years from now I wonder if we will be able to remember a tree looks like.â
She purses her lips, eyeing the delivered painting and offering it a sneer. âIf those useless drones actually figure anything out, do let me know.â Turning her gaze to her fellow councilor, her mouth thins into a tight line as she hesitates briefly before adding. âDonât die. Actually, before that, donât do anything stupid.â
Moving towards the door, she adds a casual, âBut also, really, donât die. Just thinking about it gives me a fucking headacheâ before she exits the office.

inventions; pollinators
When Leorans find islands with unbalanced or failing ecosystems, they load up pollinators onto their ships and drop off them off with a hunting party each. With the aid of this specifically designed wagon house, hunting parties can roam the lands and reintroduce bees to the islands while culling any over-abundance of predators or prey to help restore balance.
Occasionally, if there are too many herbivores on an island, they will also bring foliage traditionally native to the island and replant along the way. These trips are meant to better the environment, yes, but they are also used for younger hunting parties âfirst journeysâ. Many young hunters spend their first nights camping in the wilds (without an escort) during such trips to smaller islands.

@amala-thevarââ
local time: monday 31 october 2022, 11:00 location: city center. leoran consulate. referencing:Â @tiagoixoraââs post
One of the cityâs white robots arrives with a package for the Leoran Council. This, in and of itself, is not unusual; though the amount of time it takes to reach Gloria Gallo is. Thanks to prying from the Collective under the guise of checking for bombs (Gloria does not believe for a single solitary second that anyone would bother to bomb the Leoran Council, no matter what happened yesterday), it is hours after she first learns of the package that it finally arrives on her desk.
Already irritated that the co-investigation headed by Starfleet and the Hunters has gotten absolutely nowhere, she is in a foul mood when she unwraps a painting of a woman. Snorting, she props it up in one of the plush blue chairs in her office and takes a step back to scrutinize the piece. Is that supposed to be Amala Thevar?Â
Emotions duel within Gloria. On one hand, Amala has long been a vocal mouthpiece for the Collective. She has no sense when it comes to politics on an interplanetary playing field, and has been starstruck by the Collectiveâs fancy gadgets and shining promises. Gloria may not be familiar with the particular brand of bullshit the Collective weaves, but sheâs headed political movements since long before the other councilor was born, and she knows a venomous snake when she sees one.
Yet, recently, Thevar had shown much more sense than Gallo had given her credit for. Faced with a drugged population, including that spriteling of a nepotic Starfleet General, sheâd had the wherewithal to immediately alert the rest of the council so they could showcase a united front. Leora was strong-armed into the alliance with the Council, but showing their population they could get along was more important now than ever. They had decided months ago peaceful incorporation was better than brutal war. That decision had to be right, so they needed to showcase their cooperation.
No matter how much it grated.
Lips pressed into a thin line, Councilor Gallo snatches the painting off her chair and strides out of the office. Her slippered feet are silent against the Consulateâs reclaimed wooden floors, but her presence alone is enough to send anyone in the hallways scurrying out of the way with bows of respect. When she arrives at Councilor Thevarâs door she knocks twice before entering, hardly bothering to listen for a reply before the door is swinging open.
Plopping the painting down upon Amalaâs desk, Gloria begins. âWell, I imagine youâve seen the complaints about you pouring in over the feeds. Theyâre a little much but I think venting online is healthier than sending deranged caricatures to the council through our robots.â
She pauses, eyeing the painting again as she smiles. âThough I suppose you can take solace in the fact that even though most people want your head on a spike, thereâs at least one person who wants to fuck you.â

The Coleobrizi are a carnivorous mammalian hexapod. The long middlefingers are âspring loadedâ and can be used to capture prey, similar to a preying mantis, or to give them an extra boost when jumping into gliding. The underside of their belly is colored blue and white to help camouflage with the sky as it glides.
