What I think is most interesting about Ulquiorra and Orihime's dynamic is that, no, he doesn't give her an edge, nor does she have a steel in her spine because of him (whatever that means) but rather the opposite -- that he brings out the worst in her. Her worst instincts, her worst desires. I say this with confidence because of Orihime's expression after she slaps him.

She doesn't look proud of herself or confident, the way she did when she attacked Ginjou or protected Tatsuki. She looked broken, because Ulquiorra drove her to act on her baser instinct of violence, of wanting to hurt someone simply for the sake of it. Because they're hurting you. She doesn't even achieve anything because of it because how does that change Chad's fate? She did it because she wanted to, not because it would help. She hates herself for it, and it really isn't a proud moment for her at all (even though it's a #girlboss moment for all of us because let's face it: he had it coming). She might have taught him a thing or two about the Heart, but he showed her what amount of anger she's capable of and how ugly it is and how she doesn't like using it. You could argue that that's a good thing because it shows us how much she means it when she says she doesn't like hurting people but if people perceived that sentence as me saying good/interesting=romantic, I will scream. Anyway. I know a lot of people want Orihime to be Tough, and a Fighter because they think that gives her some teeth, and gives her complexity, or rather they think that's the only thing that will give her depth and complexity but it's really not true. Her pacifism is very well-explored, her only fatal flaw is that the audience equates fighting with character development, and therefore assume Orihime got neither. It's frankly pretty funny to assume that because her dynamic with him is interesting, she deserves to be with him, but then again what else would I expect from those type of Bleach fans lmao moving onnnn.

It's easy to assume Orihime doesn't have a dark side because of how upbeat she is, but Ulquiorra (and Aizen) mentally tortured her a lot and it's quite obvious that Ulquiorra tried to break her spirit by using the death of her friends constantly and because she had no family, they were obviously the most important thing to her at the time. I just want to know why it's cool and edgy and poor baby when Ichigo has a breakdown over their safety in the Fullbring arc when they're trying to break him (and he breaks) but when Orihime breaks, it's all she doesn't deserve her friends and she's a whiny bitch and she should get over Ichigo (as if that has any correlation at all). Both their journeys are so similar, because both their enemies brought out the worst in them in these two arcs. In fact, if you read the Fullbring arc and sympathized with Ichigo but read HM arc and hated Orihime, you should ask yourself why that is, because they both reacted similarly but only one of them gets consistently punished for it and guess what: it's not Ichigo!

Ichihime Week Day 2: Family

Wow, I am super late, but life is life, and I’ll do my best with the rest of the prompts!

Anyway, I love the Kurosaki family as it is right now, My sweet baby Orihime finally, having a family of her own, surrounded by people who will love her…

Here is my sentiment of that fullfilment! After a lifetime of solitude and loss both Orihime and Ichigo in their well earned happy end!
