*i slide into a booth* so, Shannon, this is a multiple part question—it doesn’t matter how I found you—but I was wondering, if elves can speak perfectly clear from birth, does that mean they’re born with all their teeth? Because they’d need teeth to enunciate properly—wait hang on sit back down—so they’d need to be born with them. Or does Enlightened Language sound like baby babble and sounds that can be made by literal human newborns? In that same vein, do elves loose their teeth? Can you slow down you’re walking so fast—because my thought is that of course they would, but then again maybe not? Maybe it’d be systematic and they’d loose all their teeth all at once—hey, Shannon, why are you running—

Ya'll, putting the fact that I'm Keefe-obsessed aside, 9.5 is actually going to be so good. It sounds like we're going to get:

-What it feels like to go numb due to Empathy (and then we can understand Vespera more :D )

-Keefe trying beans on toast

-Keefe realizing that humans really don't have it very easy (no gnome servants and birthfunds for them!)

_SHANNON FINALLY MAKING IT A FOCUS THAT ELVES AND HUMANS ARE REALLY SIMILAR AND THE WORLD'S PROBLEMS LIE ON EVERYONE'S SHOULDERS

-maybe MAYBE some jucy bits about Keefe reading the myth of the sinking of atlanis

-Please please just give me some Atlantis crumbs

-Keefe meeting struggling teens like him (humans can go numb too without even having empathy)

-The narrative slowly going from hating on "stupid" and "weak" humans to feelings of respect and understanding

I get that people are really sick of Keefe at this point, but I also get why Shannon gives him such a big focus. If you've read the annotated version of the first Kotlc book, then you'd know that Keefe originally wasn't even in the series and was simply added to make Sophie going to the healing center more interesting. In another note, Shannon jokingly says that "he always finds his way into scenes", and that she had a vision of what he'd look like sprawled out on that bench before knowing his name or purpose. Instead of being created for a purpose as planning for plot, he just came to be. personally, the characters I make always have more depth if they pop out of nowhere instead of being made for a purpose.

Keefe isn't a character that was designed, but a character that was born. He lives with more color for Shannon than any other character SO OF COURSE HE GET'S ALL THE GOOD PLOT POINTS

what i wouldn’t give to be taken back to when i first started reading this series. i want to experience it all again for the first time. i want to feel the betrayal and the cliffhangers and my youth and naïveté. i want to be so confused because there’s practically no deep lore quite yet, i want to make the insane theories and plow through the books within 24 hours. i want to obsess over the new funky little characters in my brain. i want to experience all the REVEALS again
