This is a short film that I have written, filmed and edited myself.

Brief: Non-linear narrative

.November 2024.

I decided to focus my piece of work on a non-linear narrative, where the fractured structure is prevalent throughout the film through a series of flashbacks.

I originally planned this piece of work through storyboarding and rough sketches of my initial ideas. I was then eventually able to produce a solid storyboard and rough idea of costumes , locations and a script for my actors.

Despite not having access to a professional camera, I was able to borrow a phone gimble/ stabiliser from my college to aid my filming done on my iPhone.

During my filming period, I utilised a variety of locations and shot types, ranging from my bedroom to my local park. I hired a studio within my college to shoot the ‘interrogation’ scenes. Prior to filming, I adjusted the mise-en-scene within my bedroom by adding a personal photograph of the characters within the film. I made sure to note down these adjustments in case I needed to reshoot any specific shots and maintain a specific set design.

Once I had all my footage, I uploaded it within Adobe Premiere Pro and began editing. Due to the non-linear structure, I began editing the ending of my film first, to ensure the film’s ‘twist’ was correctly achieved.

February 2023.

I initially planned this piece of work through storyboarding and rough sketches of my original ideas. I was then eventually able to produce a solid storyboard and rough idea of costumes , locations and a script for my actors. I made the decision not to include any diegetic sound for the first half of my film, allowing for tension to be created through camera work and shot types. During the second half of the film I included diegetic score to further emphasise the build of tension.

Once I had all my footage, I uploaded it to iMovie and began editing.
