Patreon Launch Day!

Have you ever wanted to give me more money? What? No? Oh. Well, have you ever wanted to see sneak peeks of upcoming releases, or cut content, or dissections of past work, or Q&As both in- and out-of-character, or other kinds of behind-the-scenes miscellanea? Have you ever wanted to play little interactive mini stories?

Well, today I’m launching the sonnet009games Patreon! It’s only one tier, at £4/month, and that grants you access to everything on offer, including access to polls to vote on future posts.

Here’s the schedule:

Why a Patreon? Why now?

It’s hard out here, making a living! I try to keep my games as affordable as possible and always skew toward under-charging when in doubt—I know we’re all struggling! But it does mean splitting my time between game development and a more traditional 9-to-5 to keep me afloat. Plus, as adult-themed games become more contentious, my ability to reach new players diminishes more and more.

A Patreon might just help relieve the financial burden a little, giving me more time to devote to game development and maybe even the ability to do some currently prohibitively expensive things, like invest in multi-platform releases and things like that. That’s the dream.

I also finally have a good idea of something I could offer in return that people might actually be interested in!

What will a Patreon change about this blog?

Absolutely nothing! My inbox is still open and I’ll still be posting all the things I normally do. There is no early access to games or advance notification of upcoming releases. The Patreon is purely additional, if you’d like to throw me some extra support and/or if you’re interested in any of the exclusive content on offer.

In fact, you'll even be getting a little extra over here on tumblr, since I'll be sharing the best parts of the Q&As here afterward!

So, basically, if you are financially able and interested in supporting sonnet009games as it endures and grows, that would be something truly amazing and I don’t have the words to tell you what it’d mean to me! And if you can’t or don’t want to, I totally understand! Incubus Chapter 7.5

(A small glimpse into Flea’s POV sometime between Chapter 7 and 8. For mature readers only.)

Flea refused to feel embarrassed when the detective came through the door to find him sitting at the kitchen table, elbow deep in yarn, hands occupied and nowhere to hide.

“Grace is teaching me to knit,” he said off the bat, owning it.

“Crochet, dear,” the old biddy corrected gently, for the eighth time, and nudged one of his hands into a better position.

“I’m just keeping her company,” Flea made clear as the detective shrugged off their jacket and made their way to the refrigerator to get some water.

“Careful, or you’ll lose your stitch there,” Grace advised mildly.

“I was really bored.” He could hear a hint of desperation in his voice as he watched the detective gulp down half a bottle then head past to the couch, all without a word.

“Give me any shit and I’ll stab you with this needle,” he warned them.

“Hook,” Grace chided. “And no stabbing.”

He hurried her out soon after that, though not before making a hushed arrangement to pick this up again tomorrow.

“Go on.” He then stood before the detective, arms crossed, head held high. “Let me have it. You know you want to.”

The detective, without an audience, finally looked Flea in the eye. Their mouth curved up… and they let him have it.

hi! i found your games through Aloners, just about two years ago, and wanted to say that i absolutely loved it despite being so so late on the game train. when i found out that you were no longer in the game business i got almost upset and mournful for something that i didn't even know before it ended, but highly understood why you weren't doing it anymore. i was following you all the way up until you started talking about developing Incubus, and as a longtime IF lover i was insanely happy and ecstatic that someone who had made one of my favorite VNs in recent years was continuing writing.

fast forward to now and i've been incredibly busy with life and learning to be an adult, that i hadn't gotten the chance to try Incubus. until now. i finally binged all the chapters available in just two days, becoming positively enamored with it, your writing, and with that smug bastard Flea. i've even gotten some other people already into checking it out! really i just wanted to say thank you for continuing to show your amazing writing with the world, and for making such wonderful games. thank you for making me cry at 7 in the morning after i got out of work because four out of the seven chapters made me bawl like a little baby. and thank you for giving us Flea!! hes so. grah.

See, it's funny because, to my mind, I never quit. Because even when I wasn't releasing anything, I was always working on something. But it's been wonderful being back in a place where I can make real progress and start sharing my stuff again. I'm so glad you're liking it!

Hello thank you so much for creating incubus. I literally binged all of it in few days. I loved how their relationship developed and how mc’s feeling toward ted is involved in it. spoiler for chp 6* I’m so happy mc gets to fuck flea in his demon form. Hoping for more in future! Btw what is the inspiration for flea’s demon form? I wanted to know to help visualizing his demon form better if possible.

Previous cover art is the best aid for visualisation of Flea's demon form, I'd say. Inspiration-wise, I mainly just wanted a mix of "classic" demon and just... the spikiest, most don't-touch-me kind of aesthetic for a sex demon.

Longtime fan—Aloners to this day is one of my all time favorites. I stumbled across Incubus a little bit ago and had it in my queue, and was possessed by the need to play it yesterday and I DID and it was incredible. I love that little bastard I can’t stop thinking about him. I don’t have anything to ask just wanted to tell you how much I loved the game and am so thankful that you’re making games and also am so excited for the next chapter.

Incubus Chapter 6.5

(A small glimpse into Flea’s POV sometime between Chapter 6 and 7. For mature readers only.)

Flea usually woke first. It used to be a matter of practicality—while his ex-meal was sleeping, he could snoop around their place, see if they had anything useful just lying around; could slip into the bathroom, wash himself off in the sink, give himself fresh eyeliner if he was lucky. If they seemed like a particularly soft touch he’d push his luck and throw his clothes in their washing machine, or risk stealing a new pair of socks from the bottom of a drawer.

Now was different. Flea would wake first and, instead of hurrying out of bed, he’d linger. He’d turn slowly, silent against the sheets, and watch the detective’s face in the faint pre-dawn light, gauging how long he had until their eyes would flutter open. He’d place a hand in the space between him and them, splay his fingers, and wonder since when distance had become something he no longer cherished.

This morning the detective’s brow was wrinkled, their face drawn in the faint distress of an unseen dream. Without thinking, Flea’s hand closed the gap between them. He brushed their forehead with his fingertips, rubbing gently between their eyes.

“Shhh,” he murmured. “No nightmares allowed.”

A pained sound escaped the detective’s throat, then their face went slack. Flea withdrew slowly, tucking his hand back against himself, on his side of the bed. He blinked, then rubbed his eyes until little fireworks were blooming under his eyelids.

You’re cooked, man. His toes curled. You’re fucked.

Until Chapter 7...

Hi hi! So excited to play chapter 6 for Incubus! I already got it and am gonna replay all the games just so i'm well caught up! I do have a question, and i'm sorry if this was already asked before, or if this can be found somewhere and i just missed it. But how tall is Flea?

I think I’ve answered this before but I can’t remember the exact height I gave. Let’s just say he’s basically average male height by US standards. An unremarkable kind of height.
