Age Matters?
Have you ever compared yourself with the youth? Have you ever wondered, “when or how did I age so fast?”
I have. As a matter of fact, I do. Each time I look at my niece. I try to look for myself in her but as much as I hate to admit, I just cannot find myself! In my young, juicy like tomato days, I knew I will never age, I knew I will always remain young. Full of life. Full of energy. A lot has changed since I was 16. But there is still that one precious gift given to me, which has not left me, in fact I don’t think it will ever live me, it is so stubborn that I am sure it will follow me until the day comes when all my fans will be doing the rona dhona around me whilst I will be doing, what I LOVE to do the most- and that is dream.
Difference is this time I will be in an empty space, wondering of my next journey. Chalo! Leave all that. Let’s come back to 2018 where I have turned what they call- 40’s the new 20.
Pardon me! Where are my manners? I completely forgot to introduce myself. My name is Sonal, one of the most recent trends 40’s the new 20 candidate. Single and living happily at home with the senior citizens, A.K.A parents.
Living with parents after a certain age (criteria of the certain age will be discussed soon) is like living in the space. Zzzz all silence… just you three.
I am so sure everyone of us have heard this line before from their parents: “My child, if you grow too old, you won’t find a good life partner”. So, when exactly is the right age for marriage?
I have been juggling with this question for almost 20 decades. I still am….
In my opinion, there is no right or wrong age of marriage. Marriage should happen when you are ready for it.  There is a lot that comes with marriage, be sharing of space, adjusting to families, household duties or whatever. One should get married when they are sure that they can take all of that.
I don’t know the average marriage age globally but through my years of observance, average marriage age for an Indian man is 26 and woman is 22. Hmm for me that is too young, but hey that’s just me.
I grew up hearing one line from my mother, “your father and I grew up together falling in love with each other”. I sit and now wonder if there might just be some truth to what our oldies have told us over the years? Does age really matter?
Being single has its pros and I would like to really throw my 2 pence in it, whoever catches it will win the golden fish. Whatever that means. Not that I am marital expert, but adjustments are critical, because practically being husband and wife, living together, you get privy to all the habits your partner has that sometimes may not be in the same wave length as yours. So, the first thing, I really want to tell you is keep patience.
