i. kaden ⟿ fighter
[son of eurus, legacy of apollo]
———
ii. wind swept hair, color of dead leaves. soft tired hazel eyes, overthinking gaze. warm smile, gentle whispers, “i’m fine”. methodical scowl. textured face. sun kissed, freckles. protruding rips, ridged frame. soft face, sharp jaw. blank expression breaking into a contagious laugh. sweaters and flannels, dickies pants and crewnecks, plain scuffed old skool vans and doc martens, all dark colors.
iii. deep breaths and wind beneath his wings. anxious until unburdened. gentle touches of selflessness. surprised by praise but enjoys every moment of it. sunbathing in sunbeams from the windowsill. sweater weather in late summer. craving intimacy with spring. gentle sleepy kisses, long intimate hugs. being in the moment, as the day passes. breathing in sync.
iv. “i just want to be a sexy cowboy roaming in the wilderness.”
v. yellow by coldplay. and you know, for you, i’d bleed myself dry. for you, i’d bleed myself dry.

dance with the dark
—-
is it selfish of me
to wish for the sun to never rise again?
just so i could breathe
without being burned
is it selfish of me
to hide from the sun when i feel blinded?
just so i could have the vision
to see through this paradox of time
is it selfish of me
to desire eternal night?
even if that meant
others had to endure an eternal nightmare
is it selfish of me
to loathe the warmth of the sun?
just so i could forever rest
in the passionate arms of the dark
is it selfish of me
to wish for time to cease
to simply dance with the ocean air
atop the roof where we once slept
is it selfish of me
to wish we were the last two?
and simplify dance with the dark
for all of eternity

my dearest: climate change poem
—-
my dear past
i am sorry
our ancestors
took advantage
tore her apart
and left her in ruins
leaving the earth
to pick up the pieces
by herself
my dear past
i am glad
you were comforted
cradled in the arms of ignorance
and had blissful dreams
of our future
my dear present
i am sorry
you live in a world
that has wasted her gift
her once bountiful generosity
swallowed by the industry
my dear present
i am hopeful
you will have the courage
to correct the mistakes
that may not be your own
our cherished earth
can no longer stand
on her own
my dearest future
i am sorry
our lady is facing the effects
her tears flooding the earth
and thrashing heatwaves
if we do nothing to change
devastation is promised
to the innocence of nature
and to the greedy heart of man
my dearest future
i am optimistic
that your resilience
will encourage generations
to push for change
to efficiently utilize her resources
and patch up systematic holes
that let her bounty go to waste
to finally make amends
with our fair lady
the earth

shell shock: ww1 poem
—-
soldiers promised death
confined to the earth
shivering in her embrace
beaten down by the sky
yet still alive
while 6 feet under
starving themselves of hope
told their fate was written in stone
drowning their sorrows
in the voices of joyous tragedy
writing and rewriting
whispering their wishes
onto damp pages
praying their words
will make it home safely
when they believe
that their bodies
would remain stuck
in the slippery grasp of the trenches
thunderous explosions
echoing in their heads
a constant waking sleep
even as the surrounding war
is brought to an end
a ghost in once muddied flesh
unphased by the booming
but now overwhelmed by the silence
maybe believing
that they were better off left
in no man’s land

poetry challenge: day 8
prompt: tomorrow
—-
the hollow dark aches
creeping up my spine
and something itching in my chest
taunting me, daring me
to try to reach in
and claw my heart to pieces
after hours of holding myself
rocking back and forth
praying for the itching to stop
i weep as the sun returns
to soothe the storm in my head
and to let me rest
in the arms of tomorrow

poetry challenge: day 6
prompt: goodbye
—-
like celestial bodies
we travel our own courses
some say hello
some pass us by
some stay for a while
but you will always
have to say goodbye
you will meet others
who are born
form shimmering starlight
they may be dreamy
they may be bright
and you may end up
following them blindly
but remember my dearest
they may shine more brilliantly
than most stars ever could
but never let anyone
ever make you think
that you are anything less
than the sun

poetry challenge: day 5
prompt: honey
—-
the sky bathed us in stardust
whispered us little stories
of all those who lived
and loved
and fell
we laughed together
our words painted
with the brilliant colors
born from star fire
the air wrapped us closely
filling our lungs
with the sweet scent
of pine and smoke
but nothing compared
to the sweetness of your smile
and all i could taste
was honey

poetry challenge: day 4
prompt: warmth
—-
the soft hand of wind
tracing our bones
your bright hair shimmering
in the last july sun
you looked so pretty
some stranger
pulling me in
to share your warmth
under the brilliant night sky
i just wish
you could’ve stayed

poetry challenge: day 3
prompt: mystery
—-
it’s difficult to tell
what fate is thinking
maybe she is kind
maybe she is a bit sadistic
maybe she’s just fair
but what is fair in a world
that is dictated by an invisible women
i wonder why she stuck us together
why she felt it was so important
that i learn a lesson
from watching your wounds
heal into scars
i wonder why she stuck us together
why she felt it was so important
for someone as ungrateful as i
to be loved by someone
who is too good for this world
i wonder why
but that is all i can do
fate is a mystery
truly cruel to be out of reach
to never know why
she would bless me
with someone like you

poetry challenge: day 2
prompt: missing
—-
i wasn’t sure when it happened
when everything began to fade
days blurred and time irrelevant
passing me by on the street
watching and waiting
hoping someone would see me
as more than transparent
while the monotone buzz
wrapped around my bones
and burrowed into my chest
i wasn’t sure when it changed
when the dullness lessened
and the aching white noise
became soft vibrant colors
a once familiar feeling
of hanging in a sky
as if we were the last two stars
to ever look down on the earth
maybe i’m broken
maybe i’m not
but if i were
i think you’d be my missing piece

poetry challenge: day 1
prompt: myth
—-
of myth and legend
tethered and bound
vast distances
still nothingness
voided present
one desired to fill
still they persist
sun in his smile
stars in her hair
moonlight in their eyes
and a naive wish
to dance together for eternity

zaara: let’s be masochistic and challenge ourselves to write a poem everyday bc our mental health isn’t already taxing enough <3
me, half conscious: “it can can be short, it can be ass, one poem a day, would you smash or pass?”

fractured desires
original poem [K.M.S]
—-
maternal shards echo out
“never fall in love with broken people
just because you think you can fix them”
those words ring out true
but i do truly i have a selfish desire
to fall for someone
who reflects my fractures
just so i
can feel a little less alone
to have someone
who understands
how to be gentle with my pieces
to soothe the fissures of my mind
and to caress the scars along my spine
to be able to bare my wounds
and be comfortably a mess
to be the patched together person
i am
