Bigotry isn't a kink.
It's not "Puritanism" to want fandom to be free of racism, misogyny, and other forms of bigotry. The actual puritans were fine with that stuff!
"Purity culture" is patriarchal white Christian nationalism built to "protect" the "innocence" of little white girls so they can be exploited by abusive older white men - they think bigotry is fine and dandy, actually!
The Hayes Code had strict rules about miscegenation (the "mixing" of races) and how women should be "punished" onscreen for their mistakes - the white supremacy in fandom and how fandom punishes female characters for minor flaws is actually derived from our parent culture's narratives that were born in that era.
Contemporary book banning movements target books that celebrate diversity of all kinds, not just queerness. The backlash against anti-bigotry movements within fandom more resembles contemporary book-banners' attempts to attack "CRT" and "woke" than anything else.
Contemporary carceral culture - especially the police - is based on Wilhoit's Law, where marginalized people are punished at every turn but not protected, and privileged people are protected but never punished, even when they commit atrocities, which more resembles how fandom will be absolute hypocrites when judging the quality of characters (villainizing heroic characters of marginalized identities while bending over backwards to excuse, defend, and erase the sins of white male characters) AND how they sometimes-violently react to fans of marginalized identities speaking out against bigotry. Not to mention! Black (and other marginalized) fans are not "fancops" or "fanpol" because guess what! they don't actually have state power to extrajudicially execute you for existing.
So conflating anti-bigotry movements - conflation of the critique of regressive, bigoted narratives that fandom embraces and sometimes celebrates - with any of those other movements/eras/structures is missing the mark by a goddamn country mile. In fact, treating anti-bigotry as a "threat" is directly echoing the most regressive movements/eras in history, and is holding fandom back from becoming more progressive and inclusive.
Knock it off.

I find it very funny when TERFs/radfems see me criticize intersexist rhetoric in trans spaces and automatically think I'm on their side. Only to realize two minutes later that I think we should do away with "biological sex" entirely and stop assigning sexes & genders to infants. And then they make a post about how I'm delusional and a misogynist, as always. Anyway I think more women should have penises and more men should have uteruses and we should completely degrade the meanings of the words "male" and "female" until they are solely reclaimed in the form of self-expression.

WHAT. Amazing.
I wish each individual chapter of a fic on AO3 had the date when it was posted, rather than just when the fic was first posted and when the last update was.
That way you can see at a glance how often a WIP is updated, whether it’s fairly regularly or with huge long gaps between chapters; or if the first 20 chapters were posted in quick succession but the most recent couple were posted at long intervals, indicating that the writer is losing interest and may not finish, etc.

it seems like the key theme of fungus is that they eat everything including things otherwise impossible to eat, they get everywhere with their tiny spores, and they grow and be happy wherever it is wet by eating the surroundings. So if get inside your body (wet) they eat you. so your two main options for being a multicellular organism are developing an immune system (most animals) or hiring other fungus to beat the shit out of the fungus that gets inside your body (most plants)

AI industry groups are urging an appeals court to block what they say is the largest copyright class action ever certified. They’ve warned that a single lawsuit raised by three authors over Anthropic’s AI training now threatens to “financially ruin” the entire AI industry if up to 7 million claimants end up joining the litigation and forcing a settlement.
well…darn

Unlearning (in my 40s) the habit of having to be So Careful with objects and never damage or scuff them (or else I will have to live with the sight of my own irreversible mistakes forever and that will hurt me every time I see the damage I did)
Wear and tear is okay. Things are meant to be used. Who cares if my new desk has a few ink stains on it?
Nothing lasts forever. The world is here to live in and I'm done protecting material crap at the cost of my own sanity.

I think when you correctly identify a trauma that is the base of a woe of yours it should just disappear. It should be like "aaahh. you got me" and vanish and leave 100 dollars behind

Okay, I need to address the common refrain of "transformative works fandom is made up of women, and women are attracted to men, therefore fandom and fanwork will focus on men."
(please note: I am addressing this argument specifically and not any of the many, many others that are used to justify fandom's focus on men, so bringing those other arguments up will be derailing this very specific point.)
First off, that's a heteronormative assumption. And many demographic surveys on AO3 and elsewhere show a higher percentage of queer female fans, so the percentage of f/f should be higher than you'd find in a community of the "average" population.
It's actually one of the defenses of m/m being so prevalent in many transformative works fanspaces: there are a lot of queer fans who want queer stories! And fair enough! I count myself among that number! But that queerness is conspicuously absent when talking about f/f, as if/f isn't queer enough to embrace/uplift/advocate for somehow. No, in those discussions, or so the argument seems to go, the attraction to men overrides any attraction to women, which. Again: heteronormative.
But the real crux is this: if transformative works fandom is a welcoming, queer space filled with women, why have we collectively become - in many cases - so actively hostile towards women's stories, including (and perhaps especially) queer women's stories? Why are the majority of fans who feel welcome and included primarily ones who place a higher premium on male-centric narratives?
This isn't about personal preferences, but about community alienation of those who do not share those preferences, even as we self-identify as queer/sapphic to justify erasure of female characters in the pursuit of male-centric queerness. It's about the collective self-erasure of shared queer womanhood, not about one individual being judged as "queer/feminist enough" for not liking one specific f/f ship.
Fandom is a community. And by most metrics, it's a queer female community that is too-actively hostile to queer women's stories or even the suggestion that we should be more welcoming to and inclusive of fans who enjoy same, fans who are more like us than the male characters we focus on. And that's a damn shame.

silly post about NSFW murderbot fan content (you have been warned)
broke murderhelion fics: *murderbot gets genitals, ART gets a construct body, they proceed to have the most normal human sex ever* 0/10 freak factor, missing the integral weirdness of their dynamic, me personally I am bored
woke murderhelion fics: "hey baby come on over here and let me see that code and I'll" *checks notes* "mess around with your dopamine receptors and then you can" *squinting at notes* "straddle my rail gun," 10/10 freak factor, extremely weird, feels less like smut and more like having a fever dream about a microwave and toaster trying to get it on, perfect

We have this interesting situation where we basically no longer have privacy nor the expectation of privacy, but we also don't have community or meaningful connection with others, so we're all simultaneously both completely exposed and absolutely alone, and please understand that when I say this situation is "interesting", what I in fact mean is that it's "nightmarish and I wish I could wake up"
