Hi! I'm thinking about becoming a beta reader. Thing is, I'm not known in any of my fandoms. I was wondering, is there anywhere you can sign up to be available as a beta? Thanks!
Thanks for your question, dear!  Beta reading is a great activity to take up in your free time :)  And there are a lot of different kinds of beta reading to try, too!  So first you should consider your options.
There’s one obvious first distinction: reading for original work vs. reading for fanfiction.  Your problem of having no name in your fandoms can be resolved – making an online presence in your fandom (on twitter, tumblr, facebook, etc.) is easy if you’re offering a service like this.  Still, if you find that entry difficult, there are always other outlets…
Fanfiction Beta Sites
Fanfiction.net – One of the two most popular fanfiction databases on the internet.  To become a beta reader, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a registered member for at least 1 month or more.2. Must have published at least 5 stories on the site OR have published entries totaling at least 6,000 words.3. Must accurately complete both the Profile and Preferences part of your beta profile.
You’ll share a bit about your personality, and what fandoms/genres/ratings you’re comfortable with reading.  Those tags will help readers to filter through the beta reading database and find you.  So make sure to decide what you’re interested in covering first!
Archive of Our Own (AO3) – The other most popular fanfiction website; I’m not a member there so I don’t know the exact process of becoming a beta, but I know I’ve never seen a clear-cut beta search forum there.  The link I’ve provided opens up to a search page, though – type in the Tag section, “Beta Wanted,” and sort by recently updated (+ whatever fandoms/ratings you’re interested in).  This should get you started on making connections with other writers.
Original-Work Beta Sites
(Sorted by those I’ve used to those I haven’t – not by quality!)
FictionPress – I recommend this first because it’s a sister site to fanfiction.net, so the layout is nearly identical.  The difference is that it’s based on original works, not fanfic, so there’s less of a fandom-barrier to cross.
NaNoWriMo forums – National Novel Writing Month (more information here) takes place every November, along with similar NaNo events in April and July.  At the end of these events (and usually months afterward, too), people come away with first drafts in need of critiquing.  This is likely to yield more deep beta reading, if that’s what you’re after – but it can also be as simple as grammar and line edits.
Scribophile – I’ve never used this, but I’ve heard great things.  Scribophile is very community-based critiquing network, where you can read for others and also take advantage of their blog and other resources for improving your writing, getting published, and so forth.
Critters – I’ve also heard good things about Critters, another critiquing workshop.  This one is specific to science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres, though.  The website is a little cluttered-looking, though, so it’s not my first choice personally.
Hopefully one of these will work for you!  If you have any more questions, be sure to hit me up and I’ll get back to you within the week :)  Good luck!
If you need advice on general writing or fanfiction, you should maybe ask me!

Probably one of the most valuable parts of Malinda Lo’s analysis of LGBT YA books. Many authors have already spoken out on how difficult it is to get diverse books published (though, thankfully, growing easier now), and it will definitely help your case to pitch to a publisher known for publishing books like yours.
(No, I’m afraid I can’t find the original post! If anyone catches a link somewhere I will be more than happy to add it in here.)

Writer @Katiegangel Artist Me  / Castielsgal
thank you for writing this for me Spn 13x17 Sam sat down across from the man, eyes drinking in every detail he could see. Even now, he remembered that night in the hotel. The light Gabriel had had in his eyes, even has he told Dean and him to grab Kali and run. He couldn’t see it now. All he could see was fear. He picked up the small scalpel, seeing the smaller man flinch at the sight of it. “No,” he said softly. “I…” He reached a hand forward to touch Gabriel’s shoulder, but the man winced again. For a moment, Sam wondered when the last time Gabriel had felt a hand on him that had been in kindness. “I…” He softened his tone. Sam was a big guy. He knew it. Hell, the world knew it. Big and intimidating. Maybe not as much as Dean, but Sam figured anyone would be intimidating to Gabriel now. “I don’t want to cut you,” he said softly. “I need leverage.” Gabriel’s eyes darted over to the table. Sam understood. He set one hand on the table and brought the scalpel forward. “Please, if you can, don’t move.” Gabriel nodded very slightly. For as large as Sam’s hands were, he’d naturally had a delicate touch. Even as a kid, he’d been able to help his Dad and Dean with their wounds. Hell, learning to use a thread and needle was an essential part of being a hunter. As he cut away the first thread, he stared at it. Half of him wanted to ask, but he knew it wasn’t his place. He couldn’t begin to imagine the pain. Well, he’d been to hell himself, but “hell” was an experience. And from the looks of the once so bright and proud archangel… he’d seen hell. “I’ll… I’ll get you some fresh clothes and I’ll help you clean up, okay?” He tried to smile, tried to make a good show, but the look on Gabriel’s face spoke volumes. Not disbelief, not miss-trust, but fear, even now. He lowered the knife. “I don’t know what you endured,” he said. “And I can’t make it go away… but I can fight like hell to make sure he suffers for what he did. You know I will.” Gabriel regarded him for a minute. Slowly, he lifted a trembling hand, reaching out to touch Sam’s hair. Still long, still soft. Even now. He lowered his hand and placed it on Sam’s shoulder, gripping it tightly. Sam nodded. “You can keep it there. I won’t touch you.” Carefully, with Gabriel sturdy, he cut away the rest of the thread. He watched as Gabriel’s lips parted slightly, taking in what must have been his first breath in a long time. He looked up at Sam, his other hand still petting Sam’s hair. “Never cut it… eh, Sasquatch?”

A tale of nightmares and stolen breakfast
The nightmares have been getting worse again.
Ever since Gabriel had killed Asmodeus, Lucifer had started to visit him again. The raw power with which Gabriel had burned the prince of hell alive had reminded Sam of another archangel’s wrath.
Sam couldn’t share this with anybody though. The risk that Gabriel could listen in was simply too great and the angel already had enough on his plate. He didn’t need the extra guilt.
Purring another cup of coffee and preparing his breakfast, Sam hoped that was enough to get through the day. It wasn’t the time to slack off now that any day they could decide to travel to the alternate universe to find their mom and Jack.
Stifling a yawn as he waited for the coffee to cool down he suddenly heard a voice.
“Looks like you didn’t get enough beauty sleep. Not that you really need any.”
“Good morning to you too, Gabriel.”
Although the angel had been living with them for a few days now, it was still surprising to have him pop up at the most random times around the bunker.
Taking a sip of his coffee, Sam locked up to see Gabriel staring directly at him. The jarring thing about that was however the lack of emotions in his eyes. The former Trickster always had a sort of twinkle in his eyes. But before Sam could ask what this look was about, Gabriel interrupted him.
“Well, get all the rest you need Sam, after all we’ll be facing my brother soon.”
With that the archangel disappeared and it took several seconds for Sam to notice that his breakfast had taken off too.
For two hours now, Sam had been turning in his bed with the prospect of sleep no closer.
Getting sick of all the tossing and turning, Sam decided that maybe a glass of water would help.
Opening the door to step out of the room, he slightly flinched when he saw Gabriel standing in the door.
“Didn’t I tell you to rest?”
Gabriel muttered before entering his door.
“Please do come in.”
Sam retorted but he was simply too tired to really put any bite into his sarcastic remark.
Before Sam could ask if he had been standing there the whole night, Gabriel turned around.
He had that look in his eyes again, the same one he displayed this morning. The wrinkles around his eyes gone, his lips set in a firm line and no emotion found in his hazel eyes.
“Another nightmare?”
It took some seconds for Sam to realize what the angel had asked. But Gabriel really didn’t ask. It sounded more like a statement.
He also didn’t seem to want an answer. Instead he began to undo some his buttons and pulled his shirt off.
Sam stared for a moment simply too shocked to say anything.
As Gabriel was removing his shoes, Sam regained enough of his wits.
“What the hell are you doing Gabriel!”
“What does it look like, kid.”
Gabriel answered with a smirk on his face, the emotions having returned to his eyes.
“I’m getting ready for bed.”
He removed his socks before jumping into Sam’s bed and pulling the blanket over his body.
As Sam remained stoic at the doorframe, Gabriel threw him an irritated look.
“Well, I won’t be killed in another universe simply because you were sleep deprived. Now come on, kiddo.”
Sam hesitantly entered the bed, trying to touch Gabriel as little as possible.
He was able to see Gabriel’s eye roll before the angel pressed himself against the hunter.
Sam felt the warmth and it didn’t take long before he started to relax.
Gabriel’s mouth pressed against his body, he murmured.
“Don’t worry I won’t let him hurt you.”
And it didn’t take long for Sam to fall asleep.

45 OTP ANGST PROMPTS
“It’s all my fault.”
“I trusted you.”
“I never wanted this.”
“Get out of here! Just leave!”
“Please talk to me.”
“I don’t want to talk.”
“You’re a horrible person.”
“I can’t do this again. I won’t.”
“What the hell do you want now?”
“Please, just let me go.”
“You deserve so much better than me.”
“Don’t put me in this position.”
“I can’t live without you. Don’t go. Please.”
“Why the hell didn’t you tell me?”
“Hang on. You’re gonna be okay. Keep breathing.”
“I’m so sorry.”
“Why can’t you forgive me?”
“I’m never coming back here.”
“I can’t believe you did this to me.”
“You ruined my life.”
“I know you won’t forgive me, but I’m still sorry.”
“You crossed a line.”
“I never want to see you again.”
“That was the only lie! I swear.”
“Our child is dead.”
“That was the worst day of my life.”
“I just want you to be happy. Even if it’s not with me.”
“Did it take you long to move on from me?”
“It was an accident!”
“Why don’t you believe me?”
“We have to let go.”
“Burn in hell, for all I care.”
“You broke my heart.”
“I can’t stop crying.”
“Why didn’t you say something?”
“Another nightmare?”
“I regret ever loving you.”
“I needed you. And you weren’t there.”
“Just let me help you.”
“I’m still not over you.”
“This can’t be the end.”
“Doesn’t my love mean anything?”
“I swear, I’ll make it up to you.”
“I’ll always be there for you. Don’t you know that?”
“The worst part is, I loved you anyway.”
