Today is a very dark day for human rights. The U.S. Supreme Court has decided to overturn Roe Vs. Wade—which is the rights for women to have an abortion. A horrifying and disgusting move by none other than Justice Clarence Thomas. On October 2, we fight for all women; we fight for reproductive rights and for the freedom for women to choose! The state of Texas issued an abortion ban as early as six weeks—and without the exception of rape and/or incest. This sort of law is unconstitutional, it’s violating women’s rights, and it is an evil act of misogyny, sexism, fascism, signed by Republicans—the majority are white cisgendered men who want nothing more than to have the final say, assault women by force and to do whatever the fuck they want! I remember hearing about those tragic moments from @notanobody and we both cried. They will never be forgotten.

On this day 20 years ago, I was still in elementary school, starting the 5th grade when the world stood still…back then I didn’t understand what was going on at the time until I came home and saw the dreadful and awful sight on tv; 2 planes crashing into the Twin Towers in New York City…a plane crashing into the Pentagon in DC, and a plane crashing into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Many lives were lost that tragic day; 3,000 people had died in the attack…my heart still breaks for their families today. No BIPOC should ever go through what George Floyd suffered at the hands of this four police officers.

Justice was served when Chauvin was found guilty but sadly, it didn’t bring back George Floyd. His life mattered.

A year ago today, Mr. George Floyd was murdered and publicly executed by one callous police officer who knelt on his neck for more than 9 minutes. His death sparked a revolution for justice. Now, that callous police officer named Derek Chauvin (On April 21, he was found guilty on all 3 charges) is behind bars awaiting sentencing.

Mr. Floyd’s story doesn’t end here because we have to speak out against racial injustice and brutality by the police; and to make sure that it doesn’t happen to any black person. Those are human beings. Chauvin’s accountability is the first, but it’s definitely not the last. There are other police officers out there just like Derek Chauvin who needs to be held accountable for their actions. Mr. Floyd’s life mattered.

And to conclude…a moment of silence for George Floyd. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time because they have lost a brother…an uncle…and more importantly, Gianna lost her father.

Ladies, distinguished guests, the verdict is in for the murder of Mr. George Floyd. My only hope is for Mr. Derek Chauvin, the bloke of a police officer (hardly a police officer; he’s a pious vulture of the law) who knelt on Floyd’s neck for 10 minutes, to be in prison. No matter what happens in the verdict, we have to stay calm and prepare for either the worst...and the best.
