power chords were invented by indigenous (shawnee) musician link wray, who also made history when his song "rumble" became the first and only instrumental single banned from the radio in the us (way back in 1958!!!!!) "rumble" would go on to appear on shows like the sopranos and spongebob squarepants and films like pulp fiction

I'm enjoying the Sunrise on the Reaping audiobook but I am just constantly wondering why he sounds like he's from like. I can't place it exactly but it's kinda boston-esque??? like district 12's appalachian cultural identity is So important to these books, a "neutral" american accent would be one thing but WHY is he from jersey!!! let district 12 be fucking appalachian!!!!

#ok this poll is very poorly worded#because only until i got to prev tags#did i think that it could be about whether or not it's /normalized/ or /common/ vs if it's normal as in To Be Expected#yes i dread work no i don't accept that that's just how it is and yes i do think it's normalized within society#augh. autism

It is kinda fucked how being ace or aro pretty much automatically means you’re isolated, even from your queer peers.

For me, censorship laws are a lot like the death penalty. There are people I wish would die, but I don't want the government to have any say over who lives or dies (because then they can stretch laws out to justify killing someone they dont like). There are stories that I think are reprehensible and should have never been written, but I don't want the government to have any say over which stories are reprehensible (because then they can stretch out what they deem wrong out to fit anything they don't like)

My ideal societal treatment of transitioning is that its like, finding a new, better job and/or moving cities
It's a big, positive life event, but it happens to people all the time. It's often celebrated casually. It just happens sometimes, though. Maybe people at your old job change their relationship with you, and maybe you fortify your relationship with people elsewhere. You can mention where you used to work casually without it being a huge deal. You can joke about people quitting their jobs and becoming a goat farmer without it being a huge deal.

The Food and Drug Administration is warning the public not to eat, sell or serve certain Great Value raw frozen shrimp sold at Walmart due to possible contamination with Cesium-137, a radioactive isotope.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection alerted the FDA about possible Cesium-137, or Cs-137, detected in shipping containers at four U.S. ports, the FDA said Tuesday in a press release. Testing on frozen shrimp from the distributor, Indonesia's BMS Foods, also tested positive, the FDA said.
However, no shrimp that has tested positive for Cesium-137 has entered the U.S. food supply, according to the FDA.
The FDA is still recommending a recall on all products from BMS Foods that were shipped after the company's shipping containers tested positive for Cesium-137, even though the products themselves have not tested positive.
The following Great Value brand frozen shrimp products should not be eaten, sold or served:
Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp, lot code: 8005540-1, Best by Date: 3/15/2027
Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp, lot code: 8005538-1, Best by Date: 3/15/2027

imo the nature of tumblr is that everyone is constantly thinking to themselves "yeah maybe what i post is a little cringey but at least i'm not posting [blank]" and everyone is thinking this in a big web of "at least i'm not THAT guy" like that xkcd gag of everyone on the train thinking everyone else is a sheep or the "their barbaric invaders vs our righteous whatever" cartoon and there's no endpoint of who's truly uncringe. i can't even be like "stop putting the anime horse betting on my dash" bc someone would inevitably say "ok marvel fujoshi" and kill me instantly

okay it’s come to my attention that absolutely NONE OF YOU know ANYTHING about how cutie marks work. let me say this simply. a cutie mark isn’t a job being assigned, it’s a special TALENT OR SKILL that the pony enjoys. Most of the time it has a directly transferable job for that skill, like if you enjoy baking and are super good at it WOW! baker. If you are really good at writing and telling stories, author. However, there are some cutie marks that could go multiple ways.
twilight sparkle has exceptional magic ability, so she became a scholar, but she could really do anything that required a good magic skill. same with rainbow dash, her weather controlling job isn’t directly linked to her cutie mark, but it does fit the bill for the job.
i was posed the question of what would a murderer pony’s cutie mark be and wouldn’t everyone know. NO. if somehow murder were to be a special skill, the cutie mark might be something like a knife or a shovel. other ponies might just assume you’re good at cooking or gardening. now with cutie marks like apple jacks, their family has a ‘green thumb’ kind of deal so obviously the cutie mark would be hereditary.
so, the reason i made this post. walter white pony’s cutie mark would NOT be blue crystals. it would be a CHEMISTRY FLASK.

actually the number of people who are genuinely finding all of that, like, helpful is kind of making me irrationally angry/jealous. like what do you mean it's that simple for you guys. like you all are the people who are like "turns out im not uniquely bad at life i just have adhd!" and apparently I am ACTUALLY uniquely bad at life as well as having adhd. fuckers
