Though young, Sokol has everything to become a legendary heister. A gifted athlete, Sokol also possesses keen intelligence and is a natural tactician. Calm, and precise under pressure, he reminds some of a younger Dallas. Who knows? Maybe someday he will be leading the Payday Gang.

(I’m still alive...sorta. Writer’s block is kicking my ass. Anywho, this wonderful art is inspired by this thread)
some doodles of this magnificent thread
i’m pretty set in my own way, not easily convinced or seduced (unless lured by a promise of seriously good food or wallop) but their threads set me up to a new fixation that obsessed and delighted me as a shipper more than any other. my friend of 6 years in fact tried tirelessly to lure me into this fandom for years but was never so effective. i used to draw one or two to get him off my back but now i’m completely tipped over

n0t-a-nice-person:
He ventured up the spiral staircase that made for the fire escape, and at the top picked the lock to slip inside, keeping quiet. He paused to regard the stairway and be sure he was alone there, then waited until eventually hearing from his coworker about the status of the first floor.
He wondered if all those men were armed. This type of security usually carried nonlethal weapons of some kind, but at a place like this, they might be carrying more. He hoped, however, that the personnel here were just as reluctant to damage these cars as Payday was.
Jacket listened to Bain’s instruction about the manager. He stepped closer to the door to the second floor, listened for a beat, then cracked it open to take a peek. A lounge area for employees was empty - he poked his head out a little more, and the hall looked to be empty too. He saw a few different doors, two of the three looked more likely to be a manager’s office. He made another cautious glance around before moving from his cover to stride down the hall, looking over the nameplate by each door he passed.
A conference room, and– The manager’s office required a key card. But there was a window, and it didn’t look like the manager was in there at the moment. Jacket glanced for the stairs warily, glanced down the hall again; with no one in sight, he moved to check the third room, but paused at hearing something like a printer or copy machine from inside.
There was one downside in working with someone that couldn’t speak, Sokol had no idea just how Jacket was doing up there. He was flying blind in a way, but not necessarily solo. The small advantage came in the form of Bain being able to see what they were doing, at least when the situation and cameras worked in his favor. There weren’t many on the second floor, not when there was no need to keep track of who moved around in that area. The important things were below, watched by no less than ten cameras, maybe more.
Using the stairs wasn’t an option, not with the guard standing there, arms folded over his chest. He might have been slowly yawning now and then though Sokol was certain that it was due to boredom rather than being tired; he looked far too awake and wide eyed for that. He wandered by, giving him but a glance before he continued closer to another car and a doorway just beyond it. The camera that was above it was angled toward the vehicles, leaving a suitable blind spot that he took advantage of once he noticed that no eyes were turned in his direction.
“So far so good, guys. Board hasn’t lit up yet,” was whispered through the communication device as if Bain was concerned about being herd. ‘Yet’ he says. It was nice to know that they had his vote of confidence. Amused, he glanced over this new area, briefly checking for cameras before turning his attention to his surroundings and the door off to his immediate left that lead outside, evidenced by the glowing green EXIT sign above it. After donning his mask, ensuring his face would remain concealed should there be anyone on the other side, it didn’t take him long for the lock to be picked and the door nudged open.
“Is very quiet…” Enough where those whispered words felt far too loud in his ears. No metal detectors, no guards outside. Maybe he was just missing them during their patrol? Unlike the stairs inside, the spiraling ones that lead to the roof outside were barren, urging him to take advantage of this lack of resistance. “Hope you are having better luck in finding the manager than I am, friend. Coming to the roof now.”

darling knew bullshit when she saw it, and that little gesture of his was just dripping with sarcasm. there was nothing wrong with being proud of the work you could do, so she’d make sure to indulge him come the time he could break out his specialty. a pat on the back never hurt anybody – if anything, it spurred them on to do better and better.
“i learned a couple of things from the last driver i had. baby was young, but he’d been jacking cars since he was… ten, i think. one of the best, so i had him teach me a couple things when we had a minute.” unassuming as she may be in a heist, darling was rather lethal, and sharp. young or not, especially given the man sitting across the table from her, she could do her job, and expected nothing less of him. hearing how many people may possibly show up formed a knot in her stomach, however; as familiar as sokol seemed with them, she knew nothing.
was it possible this was some bullshit setup by the cops? they could filter in at any given second, and she’d be back in jail. her relaxed posture changed, slowly, sitting up to the edge of her chair and arms pressed against the table, edge cutting into her forearms. the noise sokol’s chair made when it fell rightways made her flinch.
dark eyes watched the other’s face, teeth sliding every so lightly over her lower lip ( no use in ruining her lipstick ) before taking a breath. “since i was twenty one.” he already knew she was a fugitive, so what else was there to hide? her entire live was televised like some oxygen snapped special, anyway. “i used to be a stripper, and my ex-husband took me away from it.” voice soft and nails tracing invisible designs on the table. “my club was associated with the russian mafia – jason and i, we had to fight our way out. and after that, falling into line with a white picket fence and big suv in a suburbia felt so wrong. we did a few smaller stores, got a taste for it, and eventually started hitting banks and casinos. doc found us, and we ended up drugged up and doing anything to live the high life we wanted. then everything… everything went to shit.” another couple of tap-tap-tap’s with manicured claws, and she gave a slight gesture toward him.
“your turn.”
His brows lifted again, though this time it was due to the age of the driver in question. He might have started off his career when he was young but it couldn’t be said that he was just out of primary school. At that age it was a surprise that the man was even able to look over the steering wheel. Impressive, really. Damn shame that they didn’t have another good driver on hand besides the mute and Twitch when he wasn’t shrieking about one thing or another. If the other was that good he had to wonder just why Bain didn’t pick him up also. Maybe that was the partner that Darling had; a question better asked for another day.
As she came to mirror his stance, his own shifted for his legs to be tucked beneath the chair, his ankles crossing and knees bouncing inward to some unheard rhythm. He always tended to get like this before the group gathered; a bit restless and ready to go, an impatience that was rarely seen while the heist was active. It was in those moments that he could wait an eternity and not bat an eye. Despite the subtle fidgeting, he continued to listen attentively, his head subtly tipping to the side. He didn’t expect much of a back story—most in the group were pretty closed lipped—and so when she continued a pleasantly surprised grin quirked up the corners of his mouth. At least until she mentioned the Russian Mafia.
“Bratva?” His brows lifted and a low whistle seeped from his lips. It wasn’t easy for someone to get away from the mafia, something he didn’t know personally but he knew it intimately enough for him to have more than a sliver of respect for the two. Her details almost sounded like his, with a few tweaks here and there, of course. When the focus was turned back toward him, he pursed his lips thoughtfully. Couldn’t be said anyone had ever asked him of his past, perhaps due to already knowing from Bain. He wasn’t certain.
“Mm. Is not so exciting. My brother, he was the one that started all of this. I was being more focused on a career. He need help, I helped and found I was good at it. Did small things on the side; stores at first, shops, then we are hitting casino. That is where big money really is. Da, could go into bank, rob that, but Russian banks are like prisons. Not so easy with just the two of us. Made casinos our gig. Started flying solo after a time. Eh…cops got a little too close, had to flee country to lay low for a while. Bain gave me the opportunity to be with his gang. Rest is history.”
There was plenty he was leaving out, but nothing worth really going into. Perhaps another time he would detail that career or other small things he omitted. “I have been liking it here. Maybe you will too.”

“yeah, a wanted felon is definitely the place i start looking for help. or maybe it was the shootout, who knows.” it was probably when she stabbed a cop with the heel of her shoe. a light exhale of breath, akin to a laugh but with less enthusiasm. not that monica really minded; it was a change from the life she’d had before but still close enough that she felt comfortable.
crime was in her blood, she didn’t know how to do anything else other than take her clothes off. jason had saved her from that life, and she wasn’t about to drift back to it. so this was what she chose, being in a place with people she didn’t know, didn’t trust, doing jobs that could easily end in death. a bit reckless? of course. but it was better than rotting away in some atlanta prison waiting for a court date, waiting for an appeal, being offered plea deals and being harassed by other inmates. the publicity didn’t bother her, seeing her face plastered on the television barely affected her, but it was when they inevitably dragged jason into it. her story was never without mention of him, and that she could do without.
“smart and strong, look at you.” another small laugh, more genuine this time, eyes focused on the sharp features of the man across the table. “it’ll be nice not to have something giving me tinnitus every time we break a vault. the drills we used to use were archaic.” though there’s a giggle at the exaggeration, a genuine smile, something she hadn’t done in…
… when was the last time she smiled?
“i don’t have any specialties.” which wasn’t a lie; she didn’t have a single thing she excelled in, nothing to brag about like she was sure the rest of the oncoming crew did. what was she, exactly? “a pretty face and a good shot. i can hotwire cars and i’m good at manipulating people. pretty good at playing the victim, too – i get used for bait a lot.” sounding almost bored with the lackluster description, but she didn’t have to prove anything to anyone, she wasn’t here to impress. solely here for the job, and the cash that came afterward. at this point, how she acquired it was buried at the bottom of her concerns. “do you know how many people are supposed to show up?”
There was an attempt at modesty in the casual shrug, purse of lips and lift of his brows, though any one that knew him well also knew that modesty wasn’t exactly at the top of his list of traits. There was a distinct pride in what he did and, often, he didn’t resist speaking about it. Depending on the company, of course. Around the crew he tended to be a little more subdued thanks to them not giving a shit at times, and letting him know it. No sense in continuing then when not all of them were as patient as he tended to be.
“See, those are sounding like specialties to me. Hot wiring cars can come in handy, especially if our driver doesn’t show up.” With Twitch it was difficult to tell sometimes. He had definitely earned the moniker for a reason; first sign of too much trouble and he would get twitchy. Burning the cigarette close to the filter, he snuffed it out against one of the chair’s legs and pocketed the butt rather than flicking it off to the side. Habit, really. Even in places like this where they were supposed to be meeting he tended to keep the amount of his prints to a minimum.
“Mm…I am not knowing. Sometimes is two, sometimes four. Is rare there are solo heists unless is something small, but even then Bain is preferring if we are taking a partner with us. There are plenty to choose from and many more to come, I am thinking.” Dropping the legs of the chair down with a solid clack of wood to concrete, he leaned forward, resting his forearms against the table and laced his fingers together. A brief glance to the watch around his wrists allowed him to check the time and judge how long he had been sitting there.
“Should not be much time now. While they are not early like we are being, they are punctual. Very rarely late, if ever.” Restless, he shifted his weight, unlaced his fingers and loosely folded his arms in front of him to lean against. Since they had some time before the crew would arrive, he decided to take this moment to get to know her a bit, curious as to whether or not she would be as closed-lipped as most of the others.
“How long you are doing this? You look, well…young.” Not that he has room to talk. Out of everyone in the crew, he was the youngest.

n0t-a-nice-person:
It was only once they were in the car that Cole tried to clarify what he had ‘said’. Jacket watched attentively; it helped that the man slowed down this time. Jacket was able to catch enough letters that he understood the word now, and smiled, pleased with himself - and pleased at what Cole was suggesting. Jacket nodded. “Sure.” He wasn’t doing much tomorrow, either, depending on what he got done today.
Both of them were left to brush the sand from their feet and get their shoes on for a time, and once that was done, the other man tapped for his attention. Once his door was shut, Jacket looked over to observe the letters again - this time followed by another sign he wasn’t sure he had seen before.
It took him a beat, but he pieced together that the unfamiliar gesture was shorthand for the word Cole had spelled. He nodded some to show he understood. And for good measure, he lifted his hand to try to mimic the gesture Cole had made, hesitating at first to be sure his hand was positioned right, and then trying the motion against his own face. “Like this?”
The short-hand sign was easy enough to copy; a brush of thumb to cheek, ending with something akin to a thumb’s up. As usual Jacket picked it up and repeated it without flaw, which made him consider teaching him the sign for ‘yesterday’ and ‘today’ as well, though that could occur another time. He was ready to go home and attempt to get a bit more rest. Or at least sit down and stare at a wall for an hour or two. His head was a mess. It was as if each time he tried to shake off what bothered him, it simply came back stronger than before and the last thing he wanted to do was to let that put a further damper on the other’s day.
He nodded to the question, his lips curving up into a smile and partially turned to grab the seat belt for it to be buckled into place. A quiet sigh accompanied his lean back into the seat, comfortable and as relaxed as he could be in that moment. The trip to the beach was a welcome distraction, something he planned on doing again sometime soon as it had been a while since he last went swimming. A public pool is one thing, the natural waves and sounds of a beach was something entirely different.
Raking his fingers through his hair he scratched over his scalp, mussing up the strands before attempting to bring some order back to them then jerked his chin forward, letting Jacket know that he was ready to head off.
