When Wonho first left MX, I'd just started a sci-fi horror fic with Wonho and Kihyun. It was gonna be long, and inspired by The King in Yellow for some reason (I've never read it I'm just compelled by it's strangeness). But then, obvs, shit went down and I haven't really written fics consistently since then. And even, the moment he was found not guilty, after we all breathed that collective sigh of relief, I dropped off kpop. It didn't hold the same joy for me. Understandably, I think, I don't need to explain.

Anyway, I've been thinking about that fic I was going to write recently, and it was gonna be so weird and cool, and I'm sad over it. Bigger things were going on so it's fine.

I'm thinking of trying again though. Not making it as long as it was going to be, but letting it be just as long.

I think i even made a mood board for it. If I find that, I'll share.

Sorry I'm Not Sorry

Being Let Down Gently by Monsta X

Shownu: Sweetest of sweet boys. He’s just hoping it goes over easy and you don’t freak out on him or that you don’t cry too hard, if you do cry. He’d have wanted to bring you somewhere quiet, maybe a park or something. He just wants you to be comfortable and to fully understand what he’s saying to you. He knows you understand how he feels though, and he really hopes there’s no hard feelings. Before you leave he’ll give your hand just the gentlest squeeze.

You see him here and there. You did a lot of the same things while you were together so it’s not unlikely or weird that you run into each other, but you keep your distance, for your sake and his. When you’re feeling friendly you make sure to give him a quick wave of acknowledgement, he’ll  always give one back, offering a smile before moving on.

Wohno: Avoids bringing it up for as long as he can. You might be able to sense that something is up by the way that he acts, he’s increasingly withdrawn and melancholy as the days go on. He’ll wait until the very last minute before bringing it up, so when he does it feels like it’s come out of nowhere. He really just doesn’t want to hurt you, it’s the farthest thing on his mind really. Like he spent the whole time over thinking how he would say it exactly, what he would do depending on how you respond, keeping in mind the whole time that even though he’s ending things he still likes you.

You might hear from him again from time to time, or he’ll send you a quick text asking how you’ve been doing, but he doesn’t take it further than that. Every once in a while the two of you might get lost in conversation over text, excited about where life is going. He thinks to tell you that he really does miss you, but he knows that it’s unfair to do that to you.

Minhyuk: It’s over the phone. He points out over and over again how he really doesn’t like the idea of doing this to you over the phone, that you deserve so much better - even when being broken up with, but he isn’t sure when he’d actually have the time to see you in person. It could feel like a cop out to keep from seeing you, but he is a busy person. The situation sucks, but he knows that at the end of the day he just isn’t giving you everything you need. He wants you to be happy and knows that you want him, but sometimes what you want isn’t what you need.

You see him all over the place. His social life is active, and whether you like it or not you tend to run in the same circles. He’s always friendly with you, making sure to stop, chat with you for as long as you’re comfortable. He loves hearing about what’s going on in your life even if it is painful to drift apart.

Kihyun: Straight to the point the very next time you two see each other. He keeps it friendly, but still maintains the distance. He wants to make sure you’re okay, checks in on how you’re feeling in the moment if you let him. He did enjoy your company after all, but he knows you’ll need your space, and he knows that he’ll need space too. He hopes you understand that if it could be any other way he’d still be with you. Sometimes it’s easier to let go of things, and holding on to something that will go nowhere is the worse option

He doesn’t go out of his way to avoid you, but you don’t see him for a long time after he ends things. If you do see him again, it’s because you ran into each other while out shopping. It’s a little awkward at first, but then you find common ground and catch up just a little. He would miss your company, maybe even tell you, but he knows there’s a reason he ended things, and getting back together wouldn’t change it.

Hyungwon: He probably ghosted you. It might not have been intentional, but that’s besides the point. And if he didn’t ghost you, it was a mutual, “No, sorry I don’t think this is going to work out,” between the two of you. He’s mature enough to know that he really should give you the closure you deserve, but it just slips his mind really. If you manage to get a response from him he’ll be sure to apologize, but there’s really nothing else that will come of it.

You don’t see him again, not really. You might think you see him in a crowd, walking with his head down and his mask on. It could’ve been anyone though, it’s hard to recognize someone when you can’t really see their face and they’re walking so fast. You wouldn’t have approached him if it had been him, so it doesn’t matter either way.

Jooheon: Just wants to go back to when the two of you were friends. It was so much simpler for him to be around you, he feels like he doesn’t know how to act in a relationship with you. So he probably brings it up over text, stressed about it all day, and he just wants to get it all out of the table. What was supposed to be a simple text about how he was feeling ended up being a miles long explanation on why he misses how things used to be. He’ll freak out once he knows you’ve read and it calls to cry over the phone to you, giving you a bit of whiplash.

You see him everywhere. Whether you’re okay with going back to just being friends or not, it’s hard to get away from him. He’s always happy to see you, always greets you with open arms and the widest smile spread across his face. When he’s like that it’s so easy to love him, but you can’t help but wonder what it would have been like to be with him still.

Changkyun: Drags it out. Not to hurt you or to be cruel, he just hates the thought of being the one to have to do it. If he knew for sure that you’d be okay he’d have broken it off weeks ago. He secretly hopes that eventually you either figure it out and end it yourself, or best case scenario you start to get bored of him and end it yourself. Either way he doesn’t want to be the one to have to do it, so it takes a lot of courage to bring it up when he does. He’d sit you down and lay it all out for you, making sure you feel heard, but he’s really gotta let it be done.

He wishes that the two of you could remain friends, but it’s just not possible. Every once in a while he thinks about how good it would be to see you, but knows it’s not always easy to see people that you used to be with. If you ever need him though he’d be right there for you in a heartbeat, he’d never dream of leaving you hanging. He just needs the distance for his own sanity, and knows you probably do too.
