“You speak as though humans are largely different to us.” Ana mused, a small nervous laugh leaving her lips as she lowered her eyes to the untouched croissant in front of her. “But I agree, pets are wonderful companions. Back home, we had a few dogs. Big, shaggy dogs that were very obedient. Do you have a particular pet of preference?”

The brunette took note of the uneasy laugh, her eyes trailing down at her croissant. “No, I don’t think we are any different from humans. The only thing that separates us and regular, everyday people is that we just have these powers. I hope I didn’t make it sound like one is greater than the latter. In truth, whether witch or not, what I like is the pets.” Sofia had her own reasons to state about humans and their pets. Animals were less complex, just about surviving another day. And people...some end up being selfish and hurt others. The only thing she could agree upon that made the two similar is their resilience despite failures. “I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable. It’s just nice to be chatting with someone else instead of a random squirrel. And I may not be a baker, but I do believe croissants taste pretty good when they’re not cold.” She smiled at Ana, taking another bite out of her bagel and gesturing her to eat. “I’ve always liked the birds and rabbits. Never owned either, but I figure they’re great companions based on interacting with them.”

"You know what I like about humans?" Sofia took a small bite out of her bagel, wiping some strawberry jam from the corner of her mouth with a napkin. Once she finished chewing and swallowing her food, she smiled gently at the individual sitting with her. "Their pets.”
