i think lacy by olivia rodrigo is such a kleinsen song... she describes the feeling between envy and homoeroticism and it fits both of their povs, some lines are more jared (i linger all the time, watching, hidden in plain sight / yeah i despise my rotten mind and how much it worships you), others more evan (my stomach's all in knots, you got the one thing that i want / i see you everywhere, the sweetest torture one could bear) and others are very both (you poison every little thing that i do) (this one gets me the most)

maybe-or-maybe-not-that-unpopular opinion: i think the dear billy scene of max escaping from vecna looks ugly as hell. most of the supernatural scenes in s4 look good but unfortunately not this one. i understand why it's like that but i think the all red upside down is hard to take seriously

I've found that the GA thinks the Duffers have "written themselves into a corner" regarding Will's romantic storyline...
And I think that interpretation is so interesting. They love this show, and the writing, but somehow can't see that they're not making "mistakes" with Will's storyline.
They didn't leave him partner-less for the entirety of the show thus far, because they simply forgot.
They didn't write in "I'm not gonna fall in love," because they want to show this character is gonna end up alone.
They didn't pair him with Mike in S4, within a storyline that has no value to the main plot, for no reason at all.
They didn't write in Mike's S2 speech for Will, which is in direct opposition to Mike's confession to El, just because it seemed sweet.
They didn't write in multiple tender [and even angsty] scenes between Mike and Will throughout the show, just to showcase Will's unrequited love for Mike. They could've done this in a way that makes it explicitly clear that Mike does not love Will back, but they didn't. Or else, there wouldn't even be a debate over it.
I think people forget that shows, specifically high budget extremely popular shows such as Stranger Things, don't just write whatever slop comes to their mind first. It is a very meticulous process that goes through multiple rounds of editing. This is a group of professional writers. Of course mistakes are possible, but one's that are glaringly obvious to the audience? One that is central to the final season? Not after literal years of writing for both S4 and S5.
And that goes for the filming side as well. It wasn't a mistake when they placed Will right behind Mike during his "love" confession. It wasn't a mistake when the blocking continuously had Mike and Will paired, specifically against Max and Lucas, in both S3-4 while El was by herself. It wasn't a mistake when they placed Will in between Mike and El upon finding El in the desert. It wasn't a mistake when Mike deliberately looks between the two, very obviously conflicted.
It definitely not a mistake that S4 closes with an intimate conversation between Mike and Will, while Mike and El haven't properly spoken since her argument with him.
This is all very straightforward and I find it odd that a) the general audience views this part of the story as simple "mistakes" and "bad writing" and b) that's it's even referred to as "under your nose" or "subtle" at all.
It's not subtle. It's not vague. It's not ambiguous. It's very much a visible storyline that doesn't take much reading into [although, of course, that's very fun to do!] We truly don't need to analyze the lighting, the costumes or any "subtext" when the fact of the matter is - Will and Mike have always had a special bond, since the very first few minutes of the show, and have had a tumultuous relationship for four seasons. This is not even something the ga denies because it's so very overt!
Why write their entire relationship filled to the brim with classic romance tropes and then not deliver on it? What was the point of it?
That's just not how you write unrequited love.

so i saw someone comparing evan hansen to sierra burgess a while ago and i intend to write an essay comparing deh to sbial and other pieces of media of the like in support of deh, so i rewatched sbial and. it turns out it was not as bad as i remembered. but i still dislike it. but it turns out it's less awful and now the arguments i have against it are not as different from the ones people have for deh. but i still think deh is, although flawed, still a good, very moving story and sierra burgess sucks. but the reasons are more specific and explaining why they're different is going to be less easy than i thought it would be lol

Apparently there’s a “kids shouldn’t be allowed in grocery stores” thing being spread on TikTok because they might scream or run around and look yeah that’s annoying but at a certain point you’ve gotta just put up with kids being a little annoying in public. Sure the kid pouring milk in the isles is the fault of a shitty parent and should be asked to leave, but a single mom with an otherwise controlled by crying toddler isn’t doing anything wrong. I think you’ll live if someone’s two year old starts screaming in their arms in isle 3. It might be annoying but that mom is probably having a worse day than you
