Sunday x Reader Fluff Oneshot

A small oneshot about the reader coming to their shared bedroom with Sunday late at night, and their husband is already asleep on the bed.

You see Sunday on his side, facing away from you. He’s asleep already, and he has a plain, personally tailored set of pajamas on for him. His hair looks soft and silky, but it’s too dark to tell if it’s freshly washed and blow dried. You peel back the comforter, and you slowly climb into bed, careful not to disturb his slumber as your weight dips the mattress just slightly.

The mattress creaks before settling down as you emerge yourself beneath the thick blanket. You scoot in close to your sweet, and you rest my head on a pillow. It’s a little cold. Sunday’s pillow must be warm. Your chest lightly presses to his back, and your right arm drapes over his waist. You lean my head in for but a moment to take a small breath of him. His hair probably is freshly washed. The smell itself is indescribable. It’s more of a concept of cleanliness and freshness than a concrete subject. Whatever it is, it’s just perfect for Sunday.

You catch a whiff of his more natural scent. It’s also indescribable. But it’s just perfect for Sunday, because it is Sunday. To you, he’s perfect. Even with his faults and flaws. Even if he doesn’t think he is. He’s perfect to you. You lean your head away from his comforting scent. You take a deep breath of the air circulating in the room. It’s cold in comparison to the air close to Sunday, which is dampening in warmth with his body heat. It’s cool but it’s not lonely or barren. It smells like nothing. It’s just the bedroom you both share.

In it is a mix of yours and his belongings. The areas that are typically decorated with his items are neat and tidy. Yours are less so, but often times Sunday tidies up some of your things for you. He never says anything about it, and it usually happens without you being aware in the first place. Perhaps he doesn’t mind doing it. You suspect he does it because he likes it that way. The act of cleaning something up is less tedious than seeing it messy for him. The end result is satisfying to him. That’s just how he is. And although it’s compulsory for him, you always feel thankful that he does it.

Your arm around his waist tightens just slightly. You can’t help but want to cling to him, and your leg slowly nudges his own. You lightly rest it over one of his legs. Sunday suddenly stirs in his sleep. His right arm lifts, and he places it upon your right arm, his hand coming over your own. It’s all done without a word. And you assume he went back to sleep. You love him, you think. Your darling Sunday. You fight back a small grin.

You calm your affectionate feelings down, and you close your eyes. You’re cuddled together. He’s sleeping. You’re awake. You struggle to stay awake however. Such comfort, warmth, and love in a single queen-sized bed, and it all lulls your eyelids down over your eyes, drifting your mind away from consciousness. The last thing that crosses your mind before you fall asleep is the comforting scent of his hair. After that, you’re unconscious.

You’ll wake in the morning and your bed will be filled with two tangled bodies. The dawn has barely begun to stir awake, and for some reason, your eyes will be open. Your husband will still be here with you. You will be too groggy to think anything of it, and you’ll reposition your hold over his waist, moan softly in your barely conscious state, nuzzle his nape, and fall back asleep.
