This parallel between The Bad Batch S1E15 and S2E12 is so meaningful for Crosshair’s journey to realizing what the Empire has truly done to him.

After what happens on Barton IV with Lieutenant Nolan, and after hearing the doubts aired out from his old squad, Commander Cody, and Mayday, Crosshair finally finds himself Hunter’s place.

Hunter, in that moment, knew he couldn’t change Crosshair’s mind—at least by the time he pulled the trigger to stun Crosshair. That’s when he was told that Crosshair had removed his chip and was staying with the Empire of his accord. Of course, we know that Hunter wanted to take Crosshair with them, but Hunter ultimately still gave him the choice and respected it, despite the fact it wasn’t what he wanted.

On Barton IV, Crosshair realized the same thing was true about Nolan, and the rest of the Empire. He would never be able to change their minds about him and clones in general. So, like Hunter, he pulled the trigger, even knowing what the consequences would be.

It’s a full circle moment for Crosshair that proves how his loyalties have shifted, and begins what’s since become one of Star Wars’ best redemption arcs to date.

It also marks 1 year since the premiere of The Bad Batch season 3.

It’s hard to believe we’ve had the Batch for half a decade now, but I’m so grateful, because they’ve since become some of my favorite Star Wars characters ever!
