I literally cannot stop thinking about the bizarre world building choices in Harry Potter. The main one I'm fixating on rn is the lack of elementary schools. Literally WHY?? I don't understand how it sounds like even an ok idea to just.... not have any mandatory education until age 11??

I accidently ended up down a rabbit hole of people rewriting Harry Potter, which is odd considering I've never even thought about this series since I was like 12.

But all of this has brought upon a question: how do wizard taxes work. Do they even have taxes?? Would they know how to pay taxes?? As people have been mentioning for YEARS now, Hogwarts doesn't seem to have a math class, which is where most people get a basic education on how to pay taxes (at least where I live, idk how other countries handle that sort of thing). I'm going to assume that if wizards do actually pay taxes, it'd function the same - or at least similarly - as muggle taxes. This brings upon a whole new set of questions about the wizard economy and just how bad the wealth gap is in Harry Potter.

ALSO, do wizards pay muggle taxes?? There's no way they do, because then we'd have to deal with a B plot of Ron's entire family getting arrested for muggle tax evasion.
