now that people have started posting isolated audios of voicelines, I noticed something.

Harley's voice quivers during his "for whom does that bell toll?" monologue.

He knows.

He knows he's going to die. He's grimly mocking himself as death comes to his chambers.

Also, consider the implications of the original speech to Harley's character:

"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main…. Any man's death diminishes me, for I am involved in mankind. Therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."

I think him using this famous line and referencing this speech is intentional. Him asking "for whom does that bell now toll?" knowing full well the answer, and also that, despite his proclamations and determination, despite his twisted form, he still is only a man. One who believed himself more than a man.

Also the fact that he begins the speech with, "Do you hear it, like I do?"

He's the one hearing the bell tolling - he knew exactly what was going to happen, maybe even from the moment we entered the prison. Just too stubborn to give into hopelessness, and deciding that what use is being miserable about it? May as well have some fun before it ends and give it your best try.

AU where SleepySheepy is The Player and things sure do happen-

His ears twitched at the sound that caught his attention. Footsteps. Careful and deliberate, as if they're stepping into a minefield. Had he not been focused as intently as he usually was, he could've mistaken it for the little toys that have come and go to eat him bit by bit. Or worse... CatNap. He's heard of someone from the outside would be their only flickering hope to help them end this nightmare.

And as the source of those footsteps have been revealed into his view (with the little light it can provide), DogDay's eyes almost buldged out of his sockets as he looked them up and down. In front of him is another toy. And yet... And yet-

They have a GrabPack.

That-

That can't be right.

"You...?"

The toy turned their head to the sound. And DogDay was suddenly met with a familiar-but-not-so-familiar set of eyes of a fellow Critter, one that he's never seen before.

"Who are you...?"
