Max Steel’s attire certainly doesn’t leave anything to the imagination.

So, I recently watched the first three episodes of Disney’s 2013 reboot for Max Steel.  For the most part, it’s your pretty straightforward merchandise driven, boy’s wish fulfillment, action/adventure stuff. But there are a couple little surprising twists which make the program pretty enjoyable.

Firstly, the monster, robot, and armor designs are really good and fun to see in action. Related to this, the main character (Max) has a little robot buddy called Steel which allows him to transform into the titular armored superhero Max Steel… But unlike most animation conventions, Steel is presented as 100% alive, sentient, and with a full range of emotions, providing a rare example of the human playing straight-man to a robot.

And then there’s the character of Molly McGrath, Max’s single mother. While she initially appears to be a simple “cool cartoon mom” along the same lines as Spider-man’s Aunt May, the plot instead chooses to incorporate her as one of the main soldiers fighting along side the army of good guys and her son: complete with a Grey Fox-esque ninja suit and laser guns. So, while the show make not break the model in terms of its building blocks, there are some elements which have made me invested. I’ll probably keeping watching and see how it plays out.

Also, this scene made me feel very unclean…

Some daemon AU, because it’s basically my favorite crossover type of all time. My headcanons have shifted a bit since my last rewatch but I like these better I think. I really really want to write a daemon AU fic just of important scenes from the show, maybe with a bit of post-canon exploration tbh

In that universe, every person has an external, animal-shaped portion of their soul that speaks, has a distinct personality, and whose form indicates something about their personality or demeanor. Daemons can change shape until your personality becomes fixed, which is generally considered to happen in your early teens. After that, a daemon is considered “settled” and will never change shape again.)

Okay reblog if you’re an artist who STRONGLY PREFERS reblogs with commentary

People are apparently under the impression that reblogging someone’s art and adding a comment is frowned upon and that can’t possibly be true, every artist I know of sees a reblog-comment as like the ultimate definitive reward for their hard work.

Obviously don’t feel bad for NOT adding a comment if you’re shy or just don’t know what to say, but if there’s something you would like to say about a drawing you’ve liked enough to reblog, I’m pretty sure most artists crave hearing it.

The new chapter of Stand Still Stay Silent has properly kicked off, time for an overdue tumblr post! So hop on in for some comic reading fun! As you can see this chapter is going to be a spectacle of turquoises and violets with bits of yellow on the side, I’m excited to play around with this color scheme. It’ll fit well with the relaxing theme of character interaction and journeying that we’ll be focusing on for a little while .

From “Raising Dion” here is Nicole and her son, Dion. This comic was an answer to a major gap in media for me; a story about a single mother raising her supernaturally gifted son in a big city. Nicole is clearly a supportive mother and I love all the little moments of her marveling at her son’s abilities. I hope “Raising Dion” gets a chance to go further.
