Like her husband, Keziah is 45 and has worked hard her entire life. Keziah loves her role as wife and mother, but she wouldn't mind being the one waited upon every now and then. A lot has changed in her lifetime, and all of that change has left her uneasy. She and her family are experiencing a sense of freedom for the first time, and Keziah is not willing to give it up.

Isaiah Senior is 45 years old. He is a man who has worked hard his entire life in a world that offers him no breaks. He finds his joy in his bride, his children, and his flowers.
(I misunderstood the aging rules for the Black History Challenge. At age 45 in 1870, Isaiah Senior should be an Elder, not an Adult. I don't want him and Keziah to be elders yet because I'm not ready to let them go. Not to mention that means I myself would be considered an Elder by those rules, and I feel some kind of way about that.
Anyway, I will age them up to elder at 50...if they make it that far. I'm supposed to roll for premature death each year for all of my adults. I'm not going to do that roll for this first round, but I will roll the next time we play the Cuffees.)

My week with the Cuffees is up, but before I move on to the next family, I want to properly introduce you to all of the Cuffees. This is a big family, so it might have been hard to keep everyone straight.
I'm actually going to start with Isaiah Junior because I consider him the "main character" of this family. He started out as a Sim on the Gallery because I suck at making Sims. I created his parents using the CAS genetics feature, and then I created his sisters and brothers using the genetics of their parents.
Isaiah Junior is 23 years old. He is the heir to the Cuffee farm and will take over the property when his father passes on. Once his sisters come of age and marry, we'll be seeking a wife for Isaiah to start the third generation.

On my last day with the Cuffees, I sent the two youngest, Abraham and Moses, to the swimming hole with neighborhood girls Lucinda Harris and Sarah Winslow. They are likely to become couples in the future, so I figured they might as well start getting to know each other. Moses really hit it off with Sarah

Why does the game keep assigning these random modern outfits to historical Sims I created in CAS? It's super irritating, but easily fixed with MCCC Dresser.

Andrew Culpepper has a sixth sense for money! As soon as Isaiah got back from the market, Andrew came strolling by. Remember how he was also at the park when Isaiah was selling his odds and ends? I swear, the second a coin lands in Isaiah's pocket, Andrew is there to get his cut.
Thanks to the SNB mod by SimRealist, I was able to transfer the money from Isaiah to Andrew. The mod allows you to set up individual bank accounts for each Sim. There are also additional modules to handle bills and bank loans.

Isaiah's harvest has finally come in. I sent him off to market in Henford-on-Bagley to sell his vegetables. He will be giving ninety-percent of his proceeds to Andrew Culpepper, Senior.

Isaiah Cuffee, Junior and Lysander Freeman, I know your Mommas would not approve of two church-going young men like you talking about woohoo out in public!

While poke bowls probably would not be common in Southern Simerica in 1870, they can be cooked easily on an Off-the-Grid and Simple Living lot. My poor Simmies needed a break from milk bread, cheese, and forager's stew.

Moses beat Malaria, but now he has Anemia. Meanwhile, Isaiah Junior got an injury. These conditions aren't fatal, so in the spirt of the challenge, I won't be giving them medicine.

Unfortunately, the day Andrew chose to check up on his property was a day the Cuffees were struggling with garbage. I imagine poor Keziah was mortified.

I sent Isaiah Senior to the park to sell some odds and ends. Please ignore the anachronistic MySim statue. I'm trying to avoid selling things directly to the inventory, but I may start doing that with the MySims since they don't fit this time period.
Isaiah also sold a bouquet he made. According to the rules of the Black History Challenge, the Cuffee family cannot own a retail store until 1900, so most likely Isaiah Junior will be opening a floral shop.
I couldn't help but notice that Andrew Culpepper Senior and Junior came by. I wonder if they are plotting how to make even more money off of Isaiah.

I built this park with the swimming hole long before I knew about the new pond tool. I would have loved to replace the natural pool with a pond, but I want my Sims to be able to swim in it. I may try to add some a pond around the edges of this pool to give it a more natural look.

The large number of crops keep Isaiah Senior and Junior busy.

Titus the Rooster wakes the family up every morning at 5 o'clock sharp. Frankly, I'm surprised I haven't found this annoying yet.
