Day 6 - Fool's Gold
"Pyrite's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold."
Sam knew that expensive clothes, cavalier charm, and gold mirrored sunglasses could only get him so far before people noticed the pale skin wasn't natural, the gray hair wasn't died, and those black eyes weren't just a trick of the light.
Sam knew that he'd been dealt a bad hand the second he crawled out of that hole and saw the sun for the first time, almost blinding him immediately. He wasn't a fool, despite what everyone back home liked to think. It took a little grit and a lot of luck, and a lot of counting cards and shady deals to get him where he was now, and he didn't regret it. Not really.
Sam also knew the late nights in saloons on the west end of the Basin were coming to an end, especially with the mistakes of his past nipping at his heels. So, East it was. Where no one knew his name - at least not yet. He grabbed a dart and an old, dilapidated map, letting luck decide his next move. The point landed right in the middle of the "E" in Fitzgerald.
Sam packed his bags and headed out, the sun a bright gold overhead.

Yeehawgust - Coyote Prowlin'
It wasn't every day that Fitzgerald got new visitors in town, so the young man wearing a crisp suit stood out amongst the more ragtag residents. Everyone was itching to introduce themselves, eager to see if his wallet went as deep as his clothes suggested, and then quickly drawn in by the easy charm the man exuded.
But Marshal wasn't fooled. He knew that the smile and dark shades hid a predator looking for its next easy victim, the next gullible fool. Dr. Mortimer hadn't been a fool. He'd seen through woolly hide to the beast hiding beneath, and now he was buried six feet deep in a hole Marshal had dug with his own hands.
Marshal stuck to the porch of his office, one hand on the Peacemaker, two optics on the man having a seemingly pleasant conversation with Mayor Scott. As long as the moving parts still whirled in his chest Marshal would make sure Jasper Kingston never hurt another living soul ever again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August was busy so Yeehawgust is starting in September, but oh well. Just gonna do these in whatever order the inspiration strikes!

Sharing this everywhere because I'm happy how it turned out. Plus it still holds water so I can use it. Taking it for a test run next weekend at FanExpo.

Yeehawgust 2024: Greener Pastures
Saddle up, folks! We’ve got greener pastures on the horizon, because it’s time for Yeehawgust’s 6th year this August!
Yeehawgust features daily art prompts as well as alternative weekly prompts, for those of us who are a bit slower on the draw. Don’t draw at all? No problem! Submit any art at all, be it illustration, comics, writing, fanfiction, photography, embroidery, sculpture, music, or whatever other creative endeavors you might enjoy. All skill levels are welcome, and this can be a great opportunity to experiment with new styles and techniques.
Maybe you love media like Red Dead Redemption and Fallout: New Vegas, or classic westerns like The Magnificent Seven. You might enjoy the genre, and you’re looking for a chance to make a cowboy AU and put your OCs in chaps and your blorbos in a Stetson. Heck, maybe you just really want to draw horses. Whatever your reason, you’re welcome to join in, pardner!
Tag your work with #Yeehawgust and follow along here on the Yeehawgust blog. If you include any external links or directly tag another Tumblr user in your post (which may impact search visibility), make sure to also tag this blog or contact the mod directly so your work will get reblogged!
Check out the “Reblogging Policy and Q&A” linked on the blog for more info about Yeehawgust. The event is also Yeehawgust on Twitter, YeehawgustPrompts over on Instagram, and now yeehawgust.bsky.social over on Bluesky... but Tumblr is where we hang our hat at the end of the day.
And remember, y’all: be rootin’, tootin’, shootin’, and most importantly, be kind.

I made a comment that Nigel Bruce's Watson has big Pooh Bear energy, and that created either the greatest or dumbest thing I've ever drawn.

Note
I'm watching Rathbone's Holmes now because of you and good lord this man is demi-moronsexual. Watson simply went home instead of tailing his assigned mark and now Holmes dreams of kissing him under the moonlight. Holmes is ushering him out of the room midsentence while fanning himself. It's true love
this is it, this is the summary of their dynamic-
