Anna Atkins is a botanist and photographer that I also learned about in history of photography. I was drawn in by her photographs of the plants she was working with because of how the photographs were not normal color photos but they were blueprints of the plants. When have you ever seen this done I have never thought of being able to capture photos like this, so seeing this I was astonished. Would I ever be able to produce something like this I'm not sure but if I could take some photos like this it would be amazing. I don't have a favorite photograph from Anna but man I just think her work is very beautiful. She is also known to be the first person to have made a photo book.

Lucas Samaras this was one of the first photographers that inspired me so much when I was learning about history of photography. He looked like a deranged man but man was his work super interesting the photograph that drew me in was one were it looks like he’s coming through glass although it really isn’t he would take a Polaroid photo and before it developed he would press down on the image with something and smudge the photo and it would give it that effect, it would also have the himself in the image but it looked like he was snarling at you trying to escape from the image. The image that I am describing is called Self-portrait, Photo-Transformation, Polaroid SX-70 print, 1973. This photographer is inspirational to me because he took his photography in a very unique direction his work seems to be a very artsy like if his transformation photographs are mimicking paintings. I Have wanted to try and make some portraits like this but just haven’t had the time but should give it a try since I do have a polaroid camera maybe ill make it a project I try since I have shot some photos with color tinted polaroids before would be interesting.

Ansel Easton Adams was a landscape photographer and oh my gosh was he great at it. This photographer was amazing his photos seemed so surreal. His work was inspiring and was definitely breathtaking. His work was in black and white which I feel gave much detail to his work. His most famous photograph was of half dome and that definitely a photo that is wow this looks amazing and makes you want to go see it in real life. His work brought a big movement on the environmental aspect. To me his work wants to get you outside and explore nature be a part of the outside world and it brings me joy to see that these places exist and can be somewhere you go and have an adventure.

Spike Jonze was a big inspiration for me I really like skateboarding and this was like wow he went from being a photographer getting these great interesting shots of these great skaters but then went to make music videos for Weezer, beastie boys. I remember seeing these videos and wow I always thought they were great. He went from different mediums of work he then started to make films like HER, was a part of were the wild things are and was a big part of Jackass. The style of photos that he used to take for skate magazines were so nostalgic that it definitely made a name for the skate. Scene. I like the ads he used to make for girl skateboards and its nice to see that you can jump to different mediums for work. His work is inspiring and if I could I wold defiantly like to film a skate video they always seem like loads of fun. I couldn’t find any social media or website for him.

So this photographer was definitely one that always stood out to me because of how he was a photographer that worked closely with the skateboarding scene in Los Angeles. Lots of his work that I did see was with the hundreds clothing brand but also I only found him because of instagram and Tumblr. His work definitely inspired me in wanting to be abetter photographer and was definitely a driving point for me too purse that as a major but I clearly changed my mind and went a different route. Some photographs that brought me very fond of his work are his boudoir photographs which I like because how he captures these intimate moment of the person as if he’s showing that not yes the model is boastful but by getting close tight shots of the models curves, face or just a portrait of the model is telling a story. Lots of his Ariel work is very nice its astonishing what he captures on his camera. One thing I did find out is he shot at formula drift which I always try and attend and have always wanted to take some photos at these events. Stephen Vanasco's photography is a mesmerizing blend of urban grit and vibrant energy, capturing the raw essence of street culture with an artistic flair. His keen eye for detail and composition transforms everyday moments into striking visual narratives, inviting viewers to explore the depths of his cityscapes and portraits.

Annie Leibovitz has always been a photographer that amazed me from were her work was portraits and then they just grew to these very extravagant photo shoots. Its so hard to choose a photograph for me to even talk about but if it came down to it I would like to talk about is the photograph of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Polaroid, John Lennon curled around his wife, Yoko Ono, on December 8, 1980. This was one photo that stood out to me when I was growing up because of how my father would play the Beatles for me as a kid. Never really put faces to names when my father would talk bout the Beatles so when I finally did I was surprised. I do have to say now that I'm older I appreciate this photograph more since I learned the story behind these photographs which to me you can see the fragileness of John but also the caring love that Yoko had for him even though the backlash the couple had. Annie has a very extensive portfolio and by all means she’s good at what she does. Her work is defiantly a dream job that people wish for but its always nice to see that lots of her work is published in magazines especially new movies. If you don’t know who she is I would definitely say to look at her work on her website which I provided.

One of my favorite photographers is Ari Marcopoulos he does lots of portraiture work and lots of film work. As a photographer he is very adamant on zines he had a book published from his work that he put in zines from 2005 and it just continues from there. One of my favorite images from his work is of a person that has a skull tattoo on their entire back it is in one of his books The Chance is Higher, Dashwood Books, New York, 2008,72 pages, hardcover ,13 1⁄2 × 9 1⁄2 inches. This photograph is just eye-catching to see and it kind of speaks volume because of how the body and the Person are kind of portraying the same emotion as the skull tattoo. Lot of his work is black and white but it’s mostly portraits of what he sees on the streets of New York. He has worked with many celebrities, skaters. Its reminds me of the skate scene in los Angeles were we have skate parks but also lots of local skate spots were many kids are street skating. His work to me his inspiring and I feel like its an insight to what is like in New York. Some of his work was used by jay-z for one of his albums which Ari designed which is very interesting since it kind of looks like the album art work is drawn but it is actually a photograph. Here are some links to his website which has a nice collection of his work.

Ernesto Yerena he is not a photographer but is one of my favorite artist because of all the poster designs he does it earth relates to his heritage or even political movements that are important, like some examples are the BLACK LIVES MATTER MOVEMENT, STAND WITH LA TEACHERS. One of my favorite art pieces by him is Spiritual Memory and Connect Below the Surface these posters are 18”x24” and are screen printed. These were a set of prints that Ernesto released together. Spiritual Memory has aloe vera in the center wit the sun setting on the top with two eagles flying near the sun. Then Connect Below the Surface it has a nopal plant with the fruit blossoming and has the roots extending to the bottom of the poster it also has a sun and three eagles. To me these pieces of art are relatable because of how my grandmother uses aloe vera at home and she also grows it at home so its always on hand. The nopal is also important to me because of how we use it at home like how the whole plant is edible from the plant to even the fruit that it grows on it. I also really like the art work because its visually appealing but also relatable I feel that anyone that uses these plants and even has a connection to their hispanic roots. Here are links for his website and there you can see so much more of his works.

photo project proposal
My next project I want to tell a story of what it’s like to work in the food industry, more specifically how a chef prepares or comes up with an idea for a dish. I want to focus on how the chef would go about researching and even trying out some recipes to make that dish become a reality.
Since I have been cooking for the past 8 years I want to be able to show what it takes to actually make food that people come and eat at restaurants, that being said many restaurant have different styles of food but I would like to showcase the creation of a new dish because it’s not always getting it in the first try but it’s always making big again and again.
My photographs will focus on what gives inspiration for the dish and then show what instruments are used before preparing for the dish. I will continue with the ingredients showcasing each one then showing how everything is prepared and then the mise that was made cut up to make the dish. I would then take a close up of the chefs hands showing how the hands are damaged from the fire and even just cutting many different things. Then show how the chef prepares the dish by cooking and making any sauces. The picture of all the utensils used and how it is plated for the final photograph being the final dish which would be the outcome of the whole process.
Some of my difficulties will probably be lighting which I could use a flash but will have to try both and see if I even need a flash. Then I would be making sure I can get the day setup with my boss to be able to take these photos at the restaurant when he is free and mostly just take the pictures as they come but will have to direct in some way. The only other difficulty would be just working around all the other cooks. What I want to take away from this is that it isn't a very hard thing to cook especially if it’s something you wanna try at home or even if you want to become a cook you can and should always try to make something new because the more you try the better you will get.
