you ever see a video that pisses you off so much that it knocks you out of an hours long doom scroll?
#someone was talking about how farmers are not leagally allowed to grow seeds from a former year's crop#and they were making it out to be this greedy scheme where seed companies just want all your money#but in reality?? its patents?? that protect the breeders who spent so much time and money and science to make new cultivars???#do you know how hard it is to breed a commercially available and viable new cultivar?? very freaking hard#not to mention that most cultivars are hybrids that arent true to seed anyway#you cant get a viable plant out of them anyway#i understand that the cost of living crisis is really out here crisising#but your farmers are not the ones out here raising there proces just for profit and neither are the seed companies#it is because EVERYTHING ELSE has gotten more expensive that your veggies have gotten expensive#the inputs are more expensive and so your veggies are too#sorry it pissed me off becuase it is complete misinformation that is drawing attention away from the actual issues that are causing the cost#of living to rise#rant
