Vampire Yuri Romance ‘Vampeerz’ Licensed in English

On July 4, at its online panel at Kujrotsuki Convention Denpa announced that it has licensed vampire Yuri romance manga Vampeerz by Akili for English release.

Vampeerz follows Ichika, a 14-year-old human girl and Aria, a beautiful and strange girl she meets at her grandmother’s funeral. Ichika soon discovers that Aria is actually a vampire.

The manga is serialized in Sunday GX. Three volumes are published in Japanese by Shogakukan.

AKILI, also known as Show Higashiyama, is known for his Yuri manga works Stretch and prism, the latter of which was put on indefinite hiatus for allegedly tracing art.

LGBTQ Game ‘Goodbye Volcano High’ Announced for PlayStation 5; Will Feature Non-Binary Protagonist

During their The Future of Gaming Event, Sony announced and showcased many titles coming to the next generation of video games on PlayStation 5. Among the games revealed was KO_OP’s Goodbye Volcano High.

Goodbye Volcano High is an adventure game with a branching narrative about the end of an era and the start of a (queer) love story. The developer describes the game:

It’s the final year of high school, and graduation looms on the horizon. Will the students of Volcano High have enough time to figure themselves out before it’s all over? Is it too late to tell their crush how they feel? Are they even ready for what comes next?

The trailer showcased a beautiful and colorful world inhabited by anthropomorphic dinosaurs in high school. The protagonist of the game, Fang, is a sarcastic, cynical, non-binary teen who does not care what anyone thinks of them. Fang is voiced in the game by Lachlan Watson.

Narrative Director Kate Gray took to Twitter to express her excitement for the game, saying, “I CAN FINALLY ANNOUNCE WHAT I HAVE BEEN WRITING FOR TWO YEARS!!!” Studio Director Saleem Dabbous tweeted, “The game is queer as [f***], and it has so so much of ourselves in it. And we hope you see some of yourself in it too.”

The game will feature an original soundtrack by Omar Dabbous and vocalist Brigitte Naggar.

Goodbye Volcano High will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Stream in 2021.

Lucifer has been saved from perdition yet again — because Netflix has renewed the devilish WBTV drama for a miraculous sixth and final season, the streaming service announced Tuesday morning. In other words,  season 5  is no longer the end, which was hinted at yesterday when Netflix announced season 5A’s premiere date (Aug. 21) without calling it the final season.

In 2014, 12-year-old Tamir Rice was playing with a toy pellet gun in a Cleveland park when officer Timothy Loehmann shot and killed him within two seconds of getting out of his patrol car. Officers were dispatched to the park because someone called 911 about Rice playing with the pellet gun saying a ‘juvenile’ was pointing a gun at people but ‘it’s probably fake.’ 911 dispatchers never told officers that Rice was a child or the gun was likely fake. Neither Loehmann nor his partner tried applying first aid after shooting Rice was shot, and it was only after a trained paramedic showed up to the scene that Rice received aid. In 2017, the Cleveland police department fired Loehmann, but not solely for shooting Rice; Loehmann provided ‘false information’ when he applied to the department several years before. The other officer involved in Rice’s shooting, Frank Garmback, was only suspended for 10 days.

College Lesbian Romance in ‘How Do We Relationship?’ Premieres in English

The first volume of Tamifull’s Yuri manga series How Do We Relationship? (Tsukiatte Agetemo Iikana) was released in English today by Viz Media. Unlike most school Yuri romance, How Do We Relationship? takes place at college and features a more mature story.

The publisher describes the manga:

Shy Miwa has always dreamed of finding love, but living in small-town Japan made finding the right match difficult—especially since she likes girls! Even going away to college didn’t seem to help, until one day her outgoing classmate Saeko suggests they might as well start dating each other since it’s not like either of them has other options.

At first it seems like things won’t work out as their personalities clash and misunderstandings abound. But when their casual friendship starts to become something more, Miwa begins to wonder—can a pragmatic proposal lead to true love?
