“Art the clown? Is that a reference to something I don’t know of?”

“well,   while everyone is obsessing over this damn dance i’m just trying to figure out my halloween costume.  what do you think about   art the clown  ?”

“Dude, you look like you’re about to, like, die. Let’s just sit you down, yeah?”

“Dude… really. I’m fine. I can walk on my own… whoa. Maybe not.”

Thankfully, Felix wasn’t a person who was freaked out by dogs. Small dogs, big dogs, loud dogs, it didn’t matter. A smile immediately appears on his face in greeting to the pup, but he does as the girl says and doesn’t move. “Why apologize? He seems so happy and friendly..!”

“scully! no!” lily exclaimed, mortified as she tugged at her dog’s leash. unfortunately, the girl was no match to her german shepherd, who practically dragged lily across the park to sniffle at the stranger’s feet. “sorry about him… and just don’t make any sudden movement.”

“She just doesn’t want to settle for the good guy. Probably desiring some ‘bad boy’ to ask her out instead.” That’s what often happened the first time around. People always tended to want something they couldn’t have and the thing they really needed was practically right under his or hers’ nose. “What about you, mister? Will you be whipping out an arsenal of dance moves?” 

“A bad boy for her to fix kind of thing?” he asks, curious if that was even real. If it was, that’d be even funnier to watch crash and burn for literally anyone involved. “Me? I doubt it. I don’t dance. Thankfully, I figure the rest of the underclassmen will just do Fortnite dances to Drake songs and call that their night. And yourself?”

He pulls away (a little reluctantly), a thought popping into his head. ‘‘ wait .. do you mean in like, a no homo way? ’’  OH GOD, had Danny totally misread the last few months?

His smile falters slightly, not entirely sure what Danny meant. A ‘no homo’ way? Like a brotherly love? Fuck, what if that’s what Danny meant? Fuck it, if he ended up losing Danny, he’d be heartbroken, but at least he’d have been honest. “No, like... Like I’m in love with you, man. Like.. You’re the first thing I think of when I wake up and the last thing I think about when I fall asleep, and you’re in my dreams and I’m constantly living my life thinking about you. Like...” He pauses, his chest tight with anxiety as his eyes divert, being far too honest with the other. “Like when I’m getting dressed, I’m stressed over whether or not you like it and I try to wear colors you like and I get butterflies constantly when I see you and even now my neck is all hot and god, don’t touch my hands because I know they’re sweaty-” He has to cut himself off, face beating red and stomach clenched in knots. “I really just fucking love you. More than you probably know.” It felt weird, being in front of a memorial for dead kids and telling Danny he loved him, but he had a gut feeling like it just had to come out in this moment.

Maybe she should have contacted him during her time away but if she was being honest, she knew he could have moved on. Not because he wanted to but because they had always been good at doing what was best in their situation. They were like cockroaches, built to survive a nuclear war “I think we can agree that we’ve both been shit” she walked across his room and took a seat on the bed that hadn’t been touched in months. It wasn’t often that they actually apologized. They knew when the other was sorry and that was usually enough for them both. But this was different- it felt different. So much had changed for them both and now they were back in the house which was more like a little sliver of hell than a home “I’m sorry I didn’t at least call” she stated, a bob of her head as she made sure to avoid eye contact with the boy. “and that whatever your living situation fell through. Wish I could do better for you” 

Felix lets out a breath, feeling a shift in the room. These two weren’t vulnerable, so this all felt weird. But it was still nice, regardless. He missed her a lot and he forgot just how much he missed her until he smelled her in his bed again. They weren’t perfect, they were pretty bad siblings, but they were doing their best and that’s what matters. Or, at least that’s what mattered to Felix. “It’s okay, I knew you were safe. You’re strong, no way anything bad happened to you.” Sure, he was scared while she was gone, worried something happened. But deep down he knew she was handling whatever it was. “It’s okay, I got my hopes up and you gotta get used to disappointment sometimes.” He pauses, chewing on the inside of his cheek. “What’s been going on with you? Meet any people? Do anything illegal?”

People watching was one of Felix’s favorite pastimes. “Connor is such a good guy, though. It’d really suck for him if just because she’s a feminist she says no. I heard once that she likes him, but if her ego is too big...” He trails off, knowing the sentence would finish itself. He’d be lying if he wasn’t interested in how it’d end between the two students.

“Here in the wild at Northlake High we watch eagerly as another suitor ask a fellow soul to this year’s fall dance. Will they be rejected or will they be victorious?” With every formal event, the stress for the perfect date and outfit reeked from the pores of most of the student population. It was quite humorous at times and questionable at others. “I think Jackie will deny Connor. She claims to be too much of a feminist to be asked by a guy.”

“If the main actress suffered psychological damage from the movie, something tells me it’s a scary movie. At least Timone and Pumbaa helped, though.”

“My mom tried to convince me that Psycho wasn’t really a scary movie and that it was more murder mystery than anything else. So I thought, why not give it a try. I love a good murder mystery.” Ren shuddered. “Never again am I going to trust her. I had to watch the Lion King to get to sleep last night.”

yooooo i’m sorry i haven’t been on, wifi hasn’t been paid and rn i’m on my friend’s laptop, i’m gonna respnd to a few starters and go to work, hopefully the wifi is back on when i get home!!!

Rowan was laying on her side comfortably, petting Felix’s cat happily. She loved Mr. B. Just having any kind of animal around was enough to bring her spirits back up. Plus Fee’s company always made absolutely everything better. He was one of the few people that Rowan could actually relax around. They were laying on a blanket, on the grass, in the park and everything was okay. The sun was warming Rowan’s permanent chill and caressing the battered side of her face, helping with the healing. She gave him a small grimace, “I can only imagine… Is there anyone that could take care of him while we’re at school, maybe?”

Rowan seemed to enjoy herself with Felix, which he didn’t mind, but she seemed even happier with Mr. B around. He’d constantly drag the cat around if it brightened Rowan’s day even a little. He’s seen her in the halls, looking like a deer in headlights, especially around other males, and it was slightly reassuring to be a guy she could trust. She meant a lot to him and probably didn’t even know it. “Maybe, or he could just get over it. He’s too spoiled.” The cat was purring deeply, maybe even asleep, living for every stroke Rowan gave him.

Danny’s heart stops beating for a millisecond. he feels like he’s going to burst. He can’t help himself and he’s suddenly on his tiptoes, peppering Felix’s lips with light kisses before reluctantly pulling away. ‘‘ I love you too. ’’ 

Thankfully, Danny doesn’t seem to absolutely loathe him at his confession. Of course, this brought a lot of thoughts to his head during the short kisses; were they actually dating? If so, when was their ‘date?’ If not, why does Dan love him back and should he ask him out? They’ve been acting like boyfriends but never really made it official. Felix couldn’t keep up. “Of course I love you, idiot,” he teases back with the biggest grin on his face.

“Libra season is coming up, so you know what that means.” Dax took a moment before he continued. “To misjudge their indecisiveness as being fake. – What sign are you, anyway?” 

‘He gives the older male a look. “Libra season...?” Felix then shakes his head, as if clearing it. “I’m a Virgo, but I don’t know shit about astrology.”

“Whatever kind of animals you’re talking about, you’ve gotta give them props for accuracy and strength. At least I’m hoping you’re talking about animals, that is.”

“Last night I was wrestling around with Jamie and Barbie and ,Barbie started to bite at Jamie so she freaked and like flipped her body and kicked me in the face  giving me a giant black eye, so that’s the reason for the sunglasses,”she said

A white ball of fluff sat between the two teenagers, sunbathing with his stomach up. Saros (he named he cat something nerdy, and had to give him an alias near his friends; that alias being ‘Mr. B’) was being an absolute attention slut, shamelessly, of course. “Since moving back home, hiding him is impossible. He got too comfortable being able to wander and now he’s back to being quarantined in my room and he isn’t the biggest fan of that,” Felix comments, lightly petting the soft fur of the cat’s belly, looking more towards his friend.

Liv quietly shuts the door. Everything they did was always as silent as possible so they would awaken the beast that sat only a few feet away. Sometimes their father was alright but that was usually when he wanted something and even then, it was a rarity became less and less as the two of them get older. There were times where she imagined getting a job and finding them a shitty apartment to live in happily but that still felt like a long ways off if she wanted to at least graduate high school. Liv’s feet fell silently on each step as she crept up the narrow staircase. She stopped before entering the boy’s room. It had been vacant since way before she had come home, most of his prized possessions taken alone with him to his new home and she wondered for a moment if it would be weird having him back “Why would I hit you” She stepped inside, closing the door behind her so their voices didn’t carry “You almost got out I can’t hate you for that. Not after I left”

A lull of silence falls over the two after her statement. She wasn’t wrong. They’ve both betrayed each other, they were meant to be the only thing the other person had. What made them lose sight of that? Did they really lose their grip on each other out of their own pride? Apparently. Felix was the first to blame, doubting her words and leaving home to cool off. Then when he came home, she was gone, rightfully so. He threw up plenty of times just out of sheer homesickness from not being around Liv, but he could never admit that. His stubbornness prevented that information now; in reality he probably overstayed his welcome just out of stubbornness. He sits up and turns to face her, moving his legs so she could sit on the dingy mattress if she so chose. “Still, I’ve been kinda a shit brother. You didn’t deserve to have another person walking out on you. And for that, I’m sorry.” It was a genuine, heartfelt apology. No joking or insincere tone in his voice, looking her dead in the eyes,; he meant what he said.

Suddenly Danny feels like his breathing is going to stop - did he just hear Felix right? His eyes dart up and now he can’t take them off the taller boy, he literally can’t stop staring. He can see Felix’s lips moving but he doesn’t even know what he’s saying, the world around him has become white noise and Felix’s three words are echoing around his head. ‘‘ WAIT – you - you love me? ’’ 

The taller of the two still hadn’t known what was going on. When Danny’s eyes stare up at him, he didn’t know what caused the reaction. That was, until he responded. Felix’s mouth hangs slightly in surprise and he blinks a few times, being caught off guard himself. “I... Y-Yeah, I do. I thought I made that obvious?” He was trying to not make it obvious, he was scared somehow Danny didn’t actually like him and it was all in his head and he misread the signs. Felix tries to crack a smile to break the tension and be overly casual, but the heart-clenching anxiety in his chest prevents it.
