what i really really love about pin nation is that JUST ABOUT EVERY SINGLE PERSON IVE SEEN has a TOTALLY DIFFERENT interpretation of the bfdia 18 scene, AND ALL OF THEM MAKE SENSE???

ive heard out and ate up very deliciously some takes that include:...

📌 pin no longer cared for anyone (not even coiny) as they all left her and she practically had nobody for her anymore, explaining why she focuses on the competition as it is now her only hope of surviving anything at least (yours actually!!! lol)

📌 pin ran to drill in book to let out her anger at HER SPECIFICALLY for acting like she'd never done anything wrong ever, yet was completely complicit as a first-hand witness of pin's torture and never raised a finger at freesmart for their wrong-doings. to pin she was the closest symbol that could ever come to all her rage because she was stripped from all her rights to speak up and defend herself and the one person who was priveleged, had everything, could have just... done it, she didnt. to pin she was selfish and fake and yet to pin everyone still loves her (which is very wrong by the way lmao hi pin are you an upid baby) which is the epitome of the unfairness that this season destroyed her with. !!!

📌 that pin was tired of being's everyone's doll (get it) and needed to prove very harshly that she was not a plaything, taking control right back for herself. for someone who once dreamt of being a leader, being so horrifically powerless for so long sucked her passion and light up so dry that she needs to play dirty and rip that control right out of her oppressors' hands with her blood soaked teeth just to survive, hence leaving the one who dragged her around and called her useless to fall and drilling through everyone who had ever hurt her.

📌 pin had all of those horrible violent worms of agony trapped, squashed inside her whole body for so long that making a big, showy violent flare of her emotions and suffering was the only form of emotional release left for her and the only way she'd be able to survive else her anxiety and suffering choke her to death

📌 pin fucking hates herself but has the tiniest sliver of hope that if she can make it out to everyone that she's not actually as miserable and hurt and sad as she is and that she's actually super scary and confident then people would leave her alone and stop being mean to her. (unfortunately as we all know it Did Not Work)

📌 MAYBE PIN EVEN WANTEDDD to prove that shes actually just like everyone else by playing firty, just as they played HER dirty for THEIR own gain. pin used to care deeply about what her team (who she thought were her friends) was doing regardless as if it was for the competition or not, just whether it was the moral right thing but after everything she'd undergone she decided to throw that shit RIGHT back in their faces. fine. caring for the people around you is for the ugly? listening to others is for the useless? being a kind fucking person is for the unloveable? ill show you who's fucking unlovable you repugnant pieces of shit

Pin Analysis Part 2b Continued

BFDIA 18 has Coiny and Pin split up at the beginning, Pin sighs and says, “I guess this is as far as the bunch goes. We’re on our own from now.” Coiny says, “AND MAY THE BEST PLAYER WIN!” He then spits in her face. Pin looks annoyed and says it’s weird. Coiny then happily rolls around.¹⁴ During BFDIA 18, Coiny seems to assume they’re still working together while as far as Pin is concerned they’re both completely separate and no longer on a team. She clearly now sees them as opponents as she tells Coiny not to trip her and he says he wasn’t planning to.¹⁵ Coiny asks her if she’s okay during the competition and she brushes him off.¹⁶ They’re in two different mindsets. Pin is focused on winning and doesn’t see them as working together anymore, Coiny wants to win but also still values their friendship. Basically, everything Pin does in BFDIA 18 is purely strategical and everything Coiny does is purely personal. He doesn’t sabotage her because they’re friends, he recovers her because they’re friends, and he expects her to help him because they’re friends. Pin expects him to trip her because they’re not on a team anymore, Pin thinks recovering her was stupid because they’re not on a team anymore, Pin doesn’t help him because they’re not on a team anymore. There’s more to Pin leaving Coiny though, Pin doesn’t instantly leave him. Pin clearly is thinking as she watches Book running to get her last light¹⁷, she leaves to go stop Book and win because had Pin waited a second more, Book would’ve won. Also, Coiny was attached to Tennis Ball and Needle, it just didn’t make sense strategically. Of course Pin would leave him, she has to win, why would she make such a stupid move? That’s how Pin sees it. Meanwhile, Coiny saw it as betrayal. This is reflected in how in their argument in BFDIA 20, Coiny lists all of the personal stuff he did for her and Pin talks about the game and why it was bad for him to do that strategy-wise.¹⁸

Near the end of BFDIA 20, Coiny crashes his spaceship into Pin, all of his rage from the challenge and the prior one as well has festered and he is now taking it out on Pin. Pin says, “What are you doing? The fish monster’s THAT way! You’re going to make us BOTH lose!” Coiny says, “I know.” Pin looks confused. She’s thinking purely strategically, and this is a stupid move. Pin says, “What was the point of that!? You just doomed us both!” Coiny says, “Hey, I’m just playing the game!” This is a blatant lie as they both could’ve been safe, this move—as every one of his previous moves in BFDIA 18—was purely personal. This is Coiny’s way of brushing it off as he did in the beginning of BFDIA 19. Pin calls him out, saying, “No. You made a stupid move! We both could’ve been safe, we both had tickets!” Obviously, this wasn’t a logical play and Pin, who had only been looking to be strategic and further herself, did not understand Coiny did it for personal reasons nor could she understand his perspective. She finishes with, “But I guess having a big dramatic finish is more important!” Proving further she doesn’t understand why he did that. While arguing, Coiny’s voice is more calm, tired, and flat. Pin’s is loud and angry, practically yelling.

Overall, this stage of the game Pin is taking her anger out on everyone. As I said in a previous analysis post, “...she is deeply hurt by the actions and words of others and is taking it out on other people. Pin was demonized the entire season and now she believes that she really is that bad, she has closed herself off to everyone.”¹⁹ Pin begins to focus on winning, almost as if to justify her having to go through everything. Maybe, if she had won, it would’ve been worth it for everything she went through. Pin doesn’t view herself highly anymore, she calls herself pretty not because she genuinely believes it—but because she wants to appear in control and confident. Pin believes she is the monster everyone made her out to be and doesn’t bother trying to prove them wrong. After losing everything, she wants control again. Although the things that happen to Pin are very cartoony, her trauma is a very real thing many people go through. Losing your autonomy and voice is a horrible thing for anyone, and although Pin’s coping mechanism isn’t healthy, it makes sense she’d do anything to feel in control again, to have her voice back. I believe this is when Pin is at her worst in season 2.

Pin Analysis Part 2b

This is part two(b) of my BFDI Pin analysis, part 2b will focus on Pin in the second season, BFDIA, during episodes 14-20.

In episode 14, when Pin returns, her team welcomes her back¹, despite dismissing her multiple times in the past such as when Bomby purposefully crushes her² or Nickel dismisses her worries about switching teams.³ The first thing Pin says she wants to do is destroy FreeSmart for what they’ve done to her.⁴ Although for the first half of this episode Pin is relatively calm, her rage later surfaces and she takes it out on others.

Coiny, although having helped her, continues to be annoyed by her needs. During the challenge in BFDIA 14, Pin’s power cable unplugs and Coiny looks annoyed, saying, “Go figure.” His phone says, “PIN, you’re so USELESS.”⁵ Coiny also looks annoyed when he has to accommodate Pin again, holding her outside of the water stream so she doesn’t short circuit.⁶ After Ruby steals her song, Pin says, “This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! You can’t claim someone else’s song as your own! That completely ruins the game!” Showing at this time she cares very much for the rules. Coiny tells Pin to chill.⁷ Her speech consists of, “Freesmart, you fools. You have crossed far too many lines. You ripped off my face, you crushed my body, you didn’t let Ice Cube come swing with me, and now you have the gall to steal my song? It’s time you feel my pain. It’s time you feel the gravity of all the atrocities you have inflicted upon me.” This begins officially Pin taking her anger out on other people.

In BFDIA 14, Coiny says he’s excited they get to compete again, and Pin says she’s excited for revenge.⁸ This foreshadows their different mentalities in BFDIA 18 that ultimately lead to the breaking of their friendship. In BFDIA 15, Book says she isn’t stealing from Pencil, and Pin says she isn’t stealing from Coiny.⁹ At this time, even though they aren’t technically on the same team, Pin is still loyal to Coiny and still sees him as an ally of sorts. The end of BFDIA 15 shows Pin growing even more angry.¹⁰

Pin continues to be ignored and forgotten. In BFDIA 16, Pin asks if they’re forgetting someone and no one bothers to remember her or worry about her.¹¹ Even after witnessing the horrors of Pin losing everything, they still treat her horribly. Tennis Ball says, “You were a lot nicer when you didn’t have a face.”, Ruby says Pin is gross and throws cake in her face¹² and Fries says he thinks Pin would look bad in anything.¹³ Pin’s bullying doesn’t stop when she gets more control back, they all continue to treat her awfully.

When she can’t reply, he says sarcastically, “Real helpful there, Pin. I should crush you for how useless you’re being.” This shows Coiny’s care is very surface level as he disregards her state and gets upset when she’s unable to help him. When Coiny uses Pin oozing to tell which door is the correct door, Coiny goes into the third door, grabbing the key and placing a bug on Pin. The bug poisons and kills her. This shows further Coiny’s care is surface level. Other people disregard Pin’s state multiple times as well, such as when Ruby goes around asking people how they feel about FreeSmart and threatening to shrink them if they don’t give a positive answer, Ruby gets mad when Pin can’t answer and shrinks her, saying she asked for it.

Pin is used as an object multiple times in BFDIA 12 when she can’t object or fight for herself. Nickel uses her to open the recovery center¹⁷ and Bomby throws her at Fries, where she then lands and sinks into mud.¹⁸ In the weird telepathy place that Pin and Coiny have, Pin says, “Coiny, things have to change. We need to stand up for ourselves. We’re getting pummelled.” Pin is projecting her being bullied onto the entire team here, but this statement is also true as FreeSmart largely dominated the competition. Coiny replies, “True, and I’d love to help, but I don’t know if I can.” Pin tells him, “It’s not about whether you CAN or not. It’s about whether you CARE or not.” Coiny says, “Yes, of course I care! It’s awful seeing a friend stripped of everything she owns.” Coiny only seems to understand this on a surface level though, as he never acknowledges the true extent of her pain in later episodes.

Needle says Pin didn’t take much cranking and it saved her some work. Ruby asks who she has to thank for that and Needle says you. They high five.¹⁹ Not a single contestant cares at all about the state Pin is in aside from Coiny who digs to the center of the Earth for her—something he brings up multiple times as a means to show “how much he did for her.”

Overall, during early and mid-BFDIA Pin is treated horribly and her condition is dismissed multiple times. The only person there for her is Coiny who, even then, only shares surface level care. Pin didn’t have anyone to stick up for her and ended up losing everything because of it, this is where her rage and anger began to form. You can also see this by the antagonistic tone she takes in the telepathy place. She's very angry and stern, her rage being let out during later episodes.

Pin Analysis Part 2a

This is part two(a) of my BFDI Pin analysis, part 2a will focus on Pin in the second season, BFDIA, during episodes 1-13. Also, this post is so long it had to be split into two posts...

At the start of season two, Pin is still abrasive but seems to be more prone to influence. For example, Coiny tells Pin to switch teams and she is unsure, asking if they’re trying to exclude her. Everyone chants for Pin to switch and so she does. After she switches, Fries says, “Finally.”¹ It’s clear no one wanted her around. By the time of BFDIA, Pin didn’t really have any real friends. This is shown by the fact that when Coiny asks who they should take to put on their team she says they should take Teardrop because they’re best friends. He asks how she knows this and she says, “She’s the only one who hasn’t said she hates me!”² This implies the entirety of the original cast has told Pin they hate her, including Coiny. This is backed up in BFDIA 15.³ Pin attempts to befriend people, such as when she sits down to swing with Bubble. A lot of early BFDIA for Pin is spent trying to connect with others when she’s not directly focused on the competition. When Pin moves swings to be close to Bubble, Bubble says, “Really, Pin? Not this again!” Implying Pin has done this before. Pin makes numerous attempts to connect to others but is always shut down. Bubble tells her that she’s not sure if a friendship between them would work out⁴ and Pin says, “Don’t you want to be friends with a wonderfully beautiful, universally admired, stunningly courageous, mind-bogglingly modest heroic leader like me?” This shows Pin still holds herself in high regard at this time and still has a lot of confidence. Bubble swings with Pin for a bit after Pin bonds with her over their shared hatred of Leafy but then leaves her just as quickly. Later, Pin asks Ice Cube to swing with her and she is shut down. Pin brings this up numerous times because she took it personally. Although Book and Ice Cube just wanted to go to Match’s dance party, Pin saw it as a rejection of her. In later episodes, when Pin’s existence and autonomy is rejected multiple times, this will come back to combine with all of her anger.

During early BFDIA, Pin was slowly starting to become more nice and considerate of others. Pin offers to help Spongy talk to Coiny⁵ in BFDIA 8 and apologizes for kicking Woody four years ago⁶ in BFDIA 11. Pin was also very concerned for Coiny’s well being while he was stuck in the cash register, constantly bringing it up and saying something needed to be done about it.

Pin’s loss of autonomy is foreshadowed multiple times. Ice Cube is a person too, you know!”⁹ This both calls back to what Match said to Pin but also is ironic since Pin loses her autonomy due to this same team.

The bullying of Pin is taken to extreme levels as Puffball chooses to remove Pin’s limbs for accidentally stabbing the Puffball Speaker Box. Pin has to hop to move and says she’s exhausted. Coiny says they’re going to lose and Pin looks worried. Annoyed, Coiny tells her to roll.¹⁰ Coiny dismisses her multiple times, such as in BFDIA 5d when Pin complains recovering her didn’t get her limbs back and he says they need to get moving¹¹, or when Pin makes a comment about her concern for destroying the spaceships and he rips her in half along with Needle.¹² During BFDIA 11, Ice Cube chooses to remove Pin’s face as revenge for Pin stopping them from going to Match’s dance party.¹³ Tennis Ball immediately changes the subject and diverts attention away from Pin¹⁴, showing how little anyone cares about what’s happening to her. Golf Ball also does this in BFDIA 12.¹⁵

In BFDIA 11, Golf Ball comments they’ll have to hide the last key, and Tennis Ball asks if Pin heard that. Fries says, “She can’t hear anything. She’s just an object!”¹⁶ This also calls back to Match’s dialogue in season 1. Nobody seems to care about Pin’s state aside from Coiny who shows surface level care.

Pin Analysis Part 2a

This is part two(a) of my BFDI Pin analysis, part 2a will focus on Pin in the second season, BFDIA, during episodes 1-13. Also, this post is so long it had to be split into two posts...

At the start of season two, Pin is still abrasive but seems to be more prone to influence. For example, Coiny tells Pin to switch teams and she is unsure, asking if they’re trying to exclude her. Everyone chants for Pin to switch and so she does. After she switches, Fries says, “Finally.”¹ It’s clear no one wanted her around. By the time of BFDIA, Pin didn’t really have any real friends. This is shown by the fact that when Coiny asks who they should take to put on their team she says they should take Teardrop because they’re best friends. He asks how she knows this and she says, “She’s the only one who hasn’t said she hates me!”² This implies the entirety of the original cast has told Pin they hate her, including Coiny. This is backed up in BFDIA 15.³ Pin attempts to befriend people, such as when she sits down to swing with Bubble. A lot of early BFDIA for Pin is spent trying to connect with others when she’s not directly focused on the competition. When Pin moves swings to be close to Bubble, Bubble says, “Really, Pin? Not this again!” Implying Pin has done this before. Pin makes numerous attempts to connect to others but is always shut down. Bubble tells her that she’s not sure if a friendship between them would work out⁴ and Pin says, “Don’t you want to be friends with a wonderfully beautiful, universally admired, stunningly courageous, mind-bogglingly modest heroic leader like me?” This shows Pin still holds herself in high regard at this time and still has a lot of confidence. Bubble swings with Pin for a bit after Pin bonds with her over their shared hatred of Leafy but then leaves her just as quickly. Later, Pin asks Ice Cube to swing with her and she is shut down. Pin brings this up numerous times because she took it personally. Although Book and Ice Cube just wanted to go to Match’s dance party, Pin saw it as a rejection of her. In later episodes, when Pin’s existence and autonomy is rejected multiple times, this will come back to combine with all of her anger.

During early BFDIA, Pin was slowly starting to become more nice and considerate of others. Pin offers to help Spongy talk to Coiny⁵ in BFDIA 8 and apologizes for kicking Woody four years ago⁶ in BFDIA 11. Pin was also very concerned for Coiny’s well being while he was stuck in the cash register, constantly bringing it up and saying something needed to be done about it.
