Weight loss tip #5: make your first meal of the day the biggest
Out of all the lifestyle changes I’ve made over the years, I think this one has had one of the biggest impacts on me. It’s so simple, but I swear, it makes so much sense!!
I practice intermittent fasting so my first meal is around 10 or 11 and let me tell you, I eat A LOT of food. My go to is a nice big salad with nutritional yeast, hemp hearts, pumpkin seeds, sweet potato, lentils, avocado, hummus, raw garlic, lots of extra virgin olive oil, and whatever veg I have on hand.
It clocks in to anywhere between 700-800 calories but it keeps me full forever. Like I can go to class and work a 5 hour shift at the daycare chasing kids around and I’m still not hungry.
Making your first meal your biggest meal works for a couple of reasons.
1) You’re presumably more active during the morning/afternoon, so most of the calories you eat in the morning will be used for energy throughout the day.
Compare this to eating a big dinner and then sitting on the couch binge watching Top Chef…most of the calories you eat at night will be stored as fat because you’re not moving around as much.
2) The bigger your first meal is, the less likely you are to snack during the day. Eating less often gives your digestive system a break and keeps insulin levels steady. I know the ‘eat 6 small meals a day’ mentality is popular, but personally, I think that way of eating spikes insulin levels too much.
A lot of emerging research is finding that keeping insulin levels is key to weight loss! This can be done by eating less often, eating less sugar/ refined carbohydrates, and eating more fat.
Try eating a big healthy fatty breakfast/brunch whatever and see how you feel! I tend to feel a lot more focused, energetic, and happy during the day when I eat a huge meal.
Plus it takes the pressure off dinner because who wants to come home from work and cook anyways right? Dinners for me are usually a low key smoothie/smoothie bowl and I must say, smoothies are a lazy girls dream come true ❤️
Cheers xoxo

Basic Pre-Workout Protein Bars
Super easy to make! Note that these are not homemade Quest Bars. The Carb to Protein macros between these 2 bars are completely opposite. Why? Pre-Workout bars should contain more/mostly carbs than proteins, to fuel your cardio or lifting workout immediately and eaten 30min prior to workout. Quest Bars, on the other hand, which is mostly Protein and few, if any, carbs, like a whey or isolate or plant-based protein smoothie (whatever is your fancy), should be eaten post workout immediately, no waiting, for muscle repair and to begin protein synthesis. Just an FYI for those that didn’t know when to eat or how to choose the right Protein Bar. Ok, on to the recipe!
Mix up dry ingredients in a bowl:
1 scoop of vanilla whey isolate
½ cup PB2 peanut butter powder
½ cup oat flour (1/2cup old fashioned oats blended by itself, dry, for 10 seconds = oat flour)
½ cup Rice cereal
After blended, add:
¼ cup unsweetened Almond milk (if you are using natural peanut butter, then do not add the milk! Also, macros above do not reflect natural peanut butter)
5 tbsp of honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
mix up. It will get hard as bread dough. Keep kneading until mixed. Mold as you wish. I used a 8x8 non-stick pan and cut into 12. You can weight out the dough and divide by 12.
Be adventurous! Add chocolate or caramel drizzle. Or, line the 8x8 pan with graham crackers. Add mini marshmallows. Add Reese’s pieces! Pretzel sticks! Have fun!

my biggest fear is losing all of this weight and being left with loose skin. (i know there will be a lil but i terrified of being drowned in excess skin)
i do a few weight exercises on the machines at the gym but i mostly focus on cardio to make the weight drop off asap.
any tips on how to minimise/prevent loose skin with a lot of /quick weight loss?

Concept: you’ve been married to your wife for 3 years. You wake up in your bed before she does, your nose cold but your body warm. Careful not to wake her, you get out of bed and your toes curl when your feet hit the cold floor. You brew a pot of coffee and take a cup, making sure to leave enough for her. You pull on a big sweater and walk out onto your deck, sitting in a big wood chair to look out over the forest. The leaves are orange and edged with frost. All is quiet as the sun rises over the trees. You hear the door opening behind you and your wife sits down next to you, wrapping the comforter from your bed around both of you shoulders. You sit there like that until the sun is well up and your coffee cups are empty.
