(They used to get along well). -He doesn’t smoke -He works out at gyms -He doesn’t hesitate for a second to respond ‘yes’ when the judge asks him whether he was good friends with Dallas Winston -He didn’t cry at his parents funeral (because he felt he has to hold emotion in), but he cries when being reunited with Ponyboy.  -He almost shattered Steve’s jaw when he called him “All brawn and no brain” and never forgave him for the comment (he never could get over not being able to pursue his dream of going to college).  -Dally and Two-Bit try to defend him to Ponyboy, which shows they consider him a real buddy too. -He enjoys fights for the competition of it all -He’s never lost a fight. -Johnny and Ponyboy always get Darry on their team when the gang plays football together because he’s the best player

He’s Not Good For You

You have been dating Curly Shepard for around 3 months. Even though he is stupid sometimes, he’s actually pretty sweet. He goes to jail pretty often. Today is the day he was being released from a month’s sentence (he’s being let out early) It’s only been two weeks, but you’re excited to see him. He told you to wait by the lamp post, the one close to the Dingo. You’re bouncing on your feet in anticipation.

You see him walking down the street and you  take off down the street. As soon as you’re close enough to him, you jump into his arms.

“I missed this,” he says with a slight laugh. He sets you back onto the ground smoothly.

“I missed you,” you whisper into his shoulder. He gently runs his hands over your hair and down your arms.

“Come on,” Curly says, taking your hand in his, “I want some decent food.” He ushers you inside the Dingo.

After lunch, Curly took you outside, but not after attempting to dine and dash. You paid the bill and he dragged you outside. While holding his hand in yours, for a split second, you thought he was taking you on a walk. But he pulls you around to the side of the building.

“Curly….I’m not gonna help you steal after that woman almost caught you—” you begin to say but his lips cut you off abruptly. He kisses you passionately and rough. Curly pulls back slightly.

He smiles a toothy grin and sighs. “I’ve been wanting to do that since the cops said I was under arrest.” You think back to that night. When the cops came while you were both sleeping in his bed. He wasn’t able to kiss you goodbye that night.

“Then don’t stop,” you tell him. His lips graze against yours. This time, he’s more gentle and sweet, caressing your lips into a soft kiss.

“Hey, Curly glad to see you’re outta—(Y/N) Curtis!” Suddenly, Curly is ripped away from you. You turn to see none other than Steve Randle holding your boyfriend by the collar. Curly’s hands are covering his face and Steve’s knuckles look torn. 

Feeling slow and unable to move, you shout, “Steve stop!”

“(Y/N) what the hell was that?”

You dash over to them. “What are you doing here?”

Steve huffs out a breath. “I believe I asked you a question first.”

“You’re not stupid, Randle. You know what that was.”

“Why—”

You interrupt him. “Your turn. What are you doing here?”

Steve rolls his eyes and drops Curly from his clutches. Not two seconds later, Curly is behind you, his hands around your waist. “I was getting lunch,” His eyes side to Curly. “Why were you all over this idiot?”

“Again, Steve. You’re not stupid….” He gives you a look. “We’re uhhh”

“We’re dating,” Curly blurts.

Steve goes stiff. “How long has this been going on? Wait. Is he the reason you’re never around anymore?”

“I haven’t been around because I do have other friends besides the guys in my brothers’ gang.”

“You’re seriously dating that? Come on (Y/N). You’re better than this. You’re my best buddy’s hot younger sister.”

You almost roll your eyes, but you think better of it. “Please don’t tell anyone.”

He sighs. “Fine. I won’t say a word. But if you want to do anything with him,” He jabs a thumb at Curly. “You have to tell your brothers you’re dating him. That’s my deal.”

You look at Curly. He nods and looks down, “Deal.” You stick out your hand and Steve shakes it.

Tonight, everyone is hanging around at your home. All the guys are over and Pony suggested that it’s movie night. While, yes, you’d love to sit and relax with a movie, you haven’t seen your boyfriend in a week. Steve’s told you that he;s fine, but you want to see him.

After Steve left that day, you and Curly had kissed and you suggested that you could see each other in secret.

“(Y/N)…Are you embarrassed of me? Is that the problem?”

You couldn’t stop thinking of that question. Of course, you’re not embarrassed of him. He’s just not the guy that you know everyone would approve of.

“Aww Ponyboy has a crush!” Soda squeals.

Pony’s cheeks are bright red and before your little brother does anything, you already know what he’s going to do. “(Y/N), you got a crush on anyone?”

Today is the day. Dallas is getting his wisdom teeth removed. He has all four of the unusual teeth, but two are growing the wrong way and it causes him pain. He’s been afraid of this for a year, although he’d never admit it. He’s scared of needles, but he’s not afraid of switchblades, which is crazy to you.

He’s been holding your hand for the past thirty minutes while you’re both waiting in the lobby. Every time someone walks by he squeezes your hand. You squeeze back gently, as if to tell him that you’re still here. 

“Dallas Winston,” a lady says from behind the desk. He looks up from your joined hands; you have to stand and pull him with you. 

“I’m fine. My teeth are fine. They’re all good. Can’t we just go (Y/N)?”

“No, if I hear my best friend complain one more time about how much his jaw aches I’m going to slap you.”

“Well I guess I can make my best friend happy.” He smiles at you. You quickly let go of his hand and push him into the small room. “(Y/N)!!” he screams. The woman lets you back there and tells you the dentist will be there in two minutes. She pushes Dallas into the reclining chair in the center of the room. You get a bit mad at how she’s treating him. That’s your crush— best friend.

Well he is your crush. You first met him because you went to school with him in his early years until he dropped out Freshman year. You still kept in touch and sometimes (most of the time) he’d convince you to skip class and joke around town. You’d do anything to make him happy.

“What if I take the teeth out myself? Or—” The woman interrupts Dallas mid-sentence, twirling a pen. You’re not listening. What you’re paying attention to is the warm hand that’s now in yours. Dallas must have grabbed it up on instinct. 

“Sir, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. Now,” She rips your hands apart. “Where shall I put this?” She pokes you with the end of her pen.

“You mean me? Because I’m no object.”

Dallas looks at you with his big eyes, then back at the lady. “I’ll tell you what to do. Give (Y/N) back to me and shove that pen up your—”

“I’ll stay until I have to go,” you say.

Dallas smiles and the woman lets go of you. He holds out of hand. “Here hold this for me.” You open your hand and it’s automatically interlocked with his. 

“Ma’am, you need to wait in the lobby,” a man says.

“Yes sir.” You let go of Dallas’ hand. 

“Wait!”

“What now?” The dentist asks, rolling his eyes.

You squat down next to Dally. “I’ll be right outside. After this we can go to Dairy Queen and get you your favorite hot fudge sundae, yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“I’ll see you soon.”

“Where’s (Y/N)?” 

“I’m right here, Dal,” He does his adorable laugh. 

“No you’re not. You need to be here,” He pats his lap.

You look up at the dentist. “Is he okay?”

“Anesthetic,” he says like it explains everything. You look back at Dallas with his puffed-out cheeks.

You giggle. “Dallas, you look like a squirrel.” He puffs out his gauze-filled cheeks even more. Cutie, you think.  

“Let’s get this big, bad boy to the car.”

“You know you are super pretty,” Dallas says taking a small section of your hair into his fingers. “I dream about you a lot,” This makes you freeze. “You’re more beautiful here though.”

“The doctor told you to refrain from talking.”

“Awww that don’t mean anything.”

You sigh. “Do you still want that ice cream?”

“I want you to call me Daddy.” You blush.

“Ice cream it is.”

“You say we’re best friends, (Y/N) but I fell for you when I was black out drunk—”

“Which time?” you joke.

“I don’t know. I just remember almost punching some guy’s lights out for non reason. Or maybe there was a reason. Oh, that’s right. He was all over you, and I hated that. Before I actually hit him, you took me outside. As soon as we got outside, I pushed you up against the wall and kissed you. I don’t know if that part is true because I can’t remember if you kissed back or not. But I do remember the feeling of your lips on mine. That part was fantastic.”

You do remember that night. And you do remember kissing back.

“No, you didn’t kiss me, Dallas,” you lie. “That was some other chick who you impulsively kissed when that guy made you so mad. I remember her taking you outside and you were gone for a while.”

He smiles. “You liar. I wasn’t drunk at all that night. One of the few nights I stayed sober.” He leans over and pecks your now-rosy cheeks.
