Call It What You Want Pt. 4
Pt.1 Pt.2 Pt.3
Summary: You accidentally tell Regina that you love her
Pairings: Regina George x Gender Neutral/Fem Reader
Warnings: swearing, emotions, underage drinking, very slight smut warning
Notes: Hi! Okay, so about this chapter. I think it's best described as a filler chapter than anything. It's cute, it's playful, a little sexy, also has some like arguing and what not BUT I needed this chapter to happen so I can like get this story to where I want it. Hopefully you still enjoy the chapter.
Also, potentially thinking of writing for Leighton Murray and also have been toying with the notion of taking requests? I've never done the requests thing and I kinda want to? So idk if you have any Regina or Leighton requests send them my way and I'll give it a go??? And hopefully it like works out lol
Sorry for the long A/N. Thank you all for reading the story and for any feedback that's been given. I'm just really glad folks are enjoying it
///
"What time do you need to start getting ready?" You traced your fingertips up and down the side of her body. She hummed at the feeling of your fingers dancing across her naked skin, pushing her butt into your pelvis. "What?" You laughed quietly through your nose, your hand resting on her bare hip now to pull her into you.
"You know what." She grabbed your hand and pulled it lower, your fingers finding her wetness that had been building up over the last hour.
"I thought you said you were done?" You pushed yourself closer to her, pulling one of her legs over yours. You pressed soft kisses to her shoulder while your fingertip teased her clit.
She moaned, her head leaning back and her hair falling into your face. Her hips were moving, doing their best to seek out more contact.
"I was, but now I'm not." She reached back and her hand tangled in your hair, giving it a slight tug. It was the only thing she can mange right now to pull you closer. She turned her head and her lips found yours.
This kiss was messy and sloppy, but everything about the way Regina was pulling your hair and moaning your name into your mouth was absolutely doing it for you. She moved her hips in frantic circles, doing her best attempt to chase her orgasm. You sped your movements up, rubbing tight circles against her clit and when her thighs started to shake you knew she was close again.
You kissed her sweat soaked skin and talked her through it. Telling her how beautiful she looked like this, how much you enjoyed hearing her moan, how good she was for you. Your wrist was starting to hurt and she was about to rip a clump of hair out of your head, but you could not give a single fuck.
Her legs snapped shut within two seconds of finishing her orgasm and when her hand came flying down to pull you away, you knew she was officially done done this time.
You removed your hand and rested it on her hip. She was breathing heavily, doing her best to catch her breath. Her hand in your hair was rubbing your scalp softly now.
You kissed her shoulder, the hand on her hip drawing soothing patterns with your fingertips.
It was a mixture of things, honestly, that made you say it. How peaceful this moment was, the smell of her sweat and natural scent, the way her body fit with yours so perfectly and how she wanted to just be as close to you as you wanted to be to her.
This wasn't your first time sleeping together by any means, but something about this time just felt overwhelming. The words flew out of your mouth before you could stop it. It was mixed in with a slew of other compliments you were giving her while you pressed kisses against her. That she was so perfect, so beautiful, and so mesmerizing.
"I love you." You whispered against her skin and she froze. She fucking froze. You all but slammed your forehead into her shoulder blade. You gave her a time to say something, anything really, but it never came. Your breathing quickened with every silent second that went by. "Did I fuck up?" You asked her with your head still pressed against her shoulder blade.
"I don't know." She said in slight disbelief. "I don't fucking know." She mumbled quietly under her breath. She sat up, holding her blanket to her chest. "I-um, I need to clean up and get ready for my game." She was staring straight ahead. You couldn't read her tone of voice or the look on her face. You couldn't tell if you fucked up and how badly you did it.
"Right, yeah, of course." You slid out of bed and put your clothes back on, picking your phone and keys up off the floor where they fell earlier. You made your way to her door and opened it, lingering in her doorway for a second before turning to face her. "We can just forget I said it. I didn't mean it." You said on the verge of sounding desperate.
She nodded, still not making direct eye contact with you. You closed the door behind you and rushed into your room, praying that Ren was home.
"Heyyyy, roomie." They said from their bed where they were watching TV from. "I would ask you if you had fun, but it sounded like you did." They teased, then turned serious when they saw your face. "What happened, Y/N?" They sat up straight in their bed.
"I, uh, I told Regina I loved her." You nodded, sounding a little dazed.
"That's great! I've seen how she looks at you. I think you two are cute together an-"
"She didn't say it back." You interrupted. "But I don't know, I know she like struggles with being out and stuff. I should've just kept my fucking mouth shut! Three months was not enough time for me to be saying that shit. I was just in the moment. I told her to forget it, but she didn't say anything. Fuck! So fucking stupid!" You were rambling at this point and Ren was gracious enough to just let you.
"Do you feel better? Now that that's out of your system?"
"A little, yeah."
"So, what are you going to do?"
"Maybe just give her space for now? She has a game in a little bit and I don't really want to fuck that up for her. Then she has some team bonding event after. So I probably won't hear from her until tomorrow. If she even talks to me again."
"Oof, okay. That's rough."
You just shrugged, emptying your pockets. You changed into sweatpants and into the grey long sleeve Regina had lent you the night you slept over at her house that she so kindly let you keep in exchange for one of your tattoo convention t-shirts.
"I'm gonna do what any logical person would do in this situation and hopefully sleep through it." You washed your hands at your sink and grabbed a snack from your snack cabinet. You took your phone from your desk and crawled into your bed, facing the wall.
"Is the volume okay?" They asked, pressing play on the TV.
"All good." You held a thumbs up for them abs shutting your eyes.
---
"Ren," You called out when you opened your eyes. "how long has it been?" You were too scared to check your phone. You didn't know if seeing something or seeing nothing would be worse.
"Just two hours."
"Damnit." You mumbled into your pillow. Her game probably just started about twenty minutes ago.
You bit the bullet and checked your phone. No text messages, but you did have a Snapchat notification from her from an hour ago. She also posted on her story though so you weren't holding your breath. You checked her story first and it was just a photo of the field.
You clicked on her thread next, seeing what she sent you. The first photo was the same photo of the field. You clicked past it in annoyance only to find out she sent you another photo.
It was just a selfie of her. You could tell she was on the field, either waiting for the game to start or to be put in because you could see the collar of her jersey in her photo. Her hair was still down so that definitely made you think the game hadn't started yet when she sent the photo. She had the sun in her eyes and judging by the attitude on her face she was unhappy about something.
Most likely unhappy with you, but that didn't stop you from taking a screenshot of the photo. You took a photo of whatever your front camera opened to, which was just your wall, part of your bed, and a little bit of your arm. You wished her luck on her game today and sent it.
She opened it within seconds and she started typing. You waited for the notification to come through and as soon as it did you clicked it open.
'Cute shirt.'
You shook your head and smiled. She would comment on that little sliver of her shirt that was showing. You were in the middle of typing a flirty message when another message from her came through.
'Kinda miss it tbh.'
You bit your top lip and nodded. Because now she was being an asshole and she was doing it on purpose. You deleted your cute, flirty text immediately and typed out a new one.
'Got it. I'll fucking mail it to you.'
You sent it without overthinking it. You knew if you let it linger too long you would regret it.
She opened it, going back and forth between typing and not. After a few minutes, it was very apparent you've been left on read.
Did you cry a little? Possibly, yeah. The thought of having ruined things with Regina was sitting at the forefront of your brain right now and you couldn't think of anything else.
She was also being petty with that stupid shirt comment and it pissed you the fuck off. Like pissed you off enough to the point where you got up and changed out of the fucking thing.
It's very possible you are just as dramatic and petty as she is.
Ren was very sweet and made you Ramen noodles for dinner. They always add extra stuff to it to somehow make it taste even better and those noodles were probably the only good thing to happen to you today.
You ate your dinner and monitored the twitter account of the girls' soccer team. They were winning and Regina had even scored them a point. So you were glad to see the events from earlier in the day hadn't affected her too much.
You finished your dinner and went to the bathroom before crawling back into your bed. It was pretty early, only like 9pm now, but you debated heavily on taking your meds early and just going to sleep.
That almost seemed too easy so why the fuck would you want that??
Instead, you stayed awake to see Regina be very much active on her instagram while she was out with her team after the game. Sharing photos and videos of the shenanigans they were all getting up to at the arcade place they went to that had a bar, bowling alley, karaoke rooms, and a bunch of other shit that seemed like a drunk person's paradise.
The progression of her vibe change throughout the night was becoming very visible at it got closer to midnight. She started off strong, smiling and flipping off the camera. Then came a string of photos of her posing with different alcohols, wearing different silly hats, holding a karaoke mic, posing with her teammates and laughing. Then there was a cluster of photos that were mirror selfies taken in the bathroom. She had someone's sunglasses on and her smile was just absolutely gone, middle fingers very much still making an appearance. The last photo she posted about fifteen minutes ago was her holding a quesadilla and she had tears in her eyes and it looked like if she wasn't already crying, then she was about to start.
So clearly, the night was starting to wind down.
---
There was a loud knock at your door around 3am that startled both you and Ren awake.
"Y/N, open the fucking door!"
"Sounds like she's had enough space." Ren remarked, throwing themself back into their sleeping position.
You got out of bed and stumbled your way to the door in the dark. You opened the door to see Regina standing there in her pajamas. Her eyes were blood shot and her cheeks were red and raw, both most likely from crying.
"You took off my shirt." Her bottom lip started to quiver and whatever attitude she was attempting to come in here with was dissipating quickly. You just shrugged, not really sure how to acknowledge that. "Can we talk?"
"Fine. I'll be right over." You turned around and grabbed your things. You locked your door and slipped into Regina's room and closed her door behind you. "What?"
"You didn't fuck up. You didn't fuck anything up." She sat at the edge of her bed and started swiping away her tears. "I'm just fucked up."
You kneeled down in front of her, taking her hands in yours.
"I promise you you're not." You kissed her hands. "I shouldn't have said anything. I'm so sorry."
"No, shut up." She shoved your head away lightly and both of you laughed. "I just freaked out." She sniffled and then rubbed her nose.
"I didn't mean to freak you out. I won't say it again. It's also totally okay if you don't feel the same way." You reassured.
"I think I freaked out because I do."
"Oh?"
"Mhmm." She nodded. Her index finger hooked under your chin and she tilted your head up so you were looking at her. "Say it again." She whispered, her eyes bouncing between your eyes and your lips.
"Well, now I'm put on the spot." You teased, leaning in slightly. If you were being honest, you were just hesitant to say it first again because what if it still made her freak out?
"God fucking forbid I put you on the spot." She joked, grabbing your face with her hands. "I love you, Y/N. I really fucking do."
She looked and sounded very serious. You still searched her face for any sign of deception though, but there wasn't a single trace of it. You pulled her hands from your face and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.
"I love you, too." You nudged your nose against hers and kissed her lips one more time.
"Fuck you though with that 'I'll fucking mail it to you' bullshit." She crossed her arms, leaning away from you slightly. You laughed, standing up and cracking your back.
"I didn't even get a response, I left you so speechless with it." You teased, nudging her shoulders teasingly and egging her on.
"It pissed me the fuck off." She caught your hands, lacing her your fingers together.
"Well, don't say shit you don't mean and piss me off first. Then I won't have to say anything back." You got out of her grip, giving her the middle finger and sticking your tongue out. You yelped, swatting away her playful slaps that now had you both laughing.
"Ugh, you get on my nerves." She rolled her eyes, but you could see her biting the inside of cheek so she wouldn't smile.
"Yeah, but apparently you loooooove me."

A (Different) Cautionary Tale
Tumblr media
a/n: for this story to work the way i wrote it, pretend regina didn't out janis, cady is bi, regina is bi (but obviously leans more towards girls) and aaron is just ✨there✨
regina george.
the queen bee of northshore high school.
everyone wanted to either be regina or be with regina.
everyone except y/n it seemed.
you see, y/n was the older sister of janis, the girl regina used to call a best friend a few years prior  but had a falling out with. y/n was a year older than the two, entering her senior year of high school. she was also the complete opposite of janis. she played sports, she had a gpa of 4.0, did extracurriculars. janis didn't do any of that, opting to hang out with damian and spend most of her time in the art room.
regina and y/n had a complicated past. after the falling out between janis and regina, y/n had drove to her house to confront her, only for it to lead to the two hooking up. they became friends with benefits before regina finally got the courage to make y/n hers after two months.
one day at lunch, regina was heading to the table where gretchen and karen already sat, but not before making a pit stop at the table where y/n was sitting with damian, janis, and aaron, pulling the girl up and into a very heated kiss. the whole cafeteria went silent as the two kissed, regina pulling away with a smug smirk on her face. she wiped the lip gloss off of y/n's lips before pecking them one more time and taking her leave.
after much explaining to janis, she begrudgingly gave her blessing and the two became the most powerful on and off couple in the school.
flash forward to now, the couple are currently off and cady heron begins her first day at northshore. she catches regina's eye after making her appearance in the cafeteria, the blonde deciding that she is going to let her sit with the plastics for the rest of the week. confused and excited to make friends, cady agrees and after lunch, heads to ap calculus.
ms. norbury is talking about limits and cady is firing off answers like a rocket when she meets y/n. she feels her heart soar when y/n turns to talk to her. "are you trying to make the rest of us look bad?" cady was at a loss for words. "i'm not trying, its just happening." y/n chuckled a little. "oh, so its like that? challenge accepted new girl." cady blushed and stuck out her hand. "i'm cady." y/n smiled and shook her hand. "y/n. it's very nice to meet you cady." cady smiled as her heart fluttered like never before.
a couple weeks roll by and cady has officially integrated with the plastics. janis and damian's plan to take down regina was in full effect and cady felt her crush on y/n growing every day that passed. with the little help from janis and damien (a very reluctant damien) she talked to y/n enough for the girl to invite her to the annual Halloween party.
in cady's defense, no one told her that she had to dress like a slut until gretchen decided to inform a little too late. while explaining to cady how halloween worked in the states, gretchen's phone vibrated with a text from regina. after cracking under the pressure (all regina did was ask who invited cady), gretchen lets it loose that cady has a crush on y/n. reading the texts makes regina's blood boil and she decides then and there to take matters into her own hands.
she tracks y/n down in the kitchen, the girl looking for something non-alcoholic for cady before the blonde speaks. "we need to talk." y/n turned and scoffed. "thought you were done talking to me after you dumped me for shane over the summer." regina rolls her eyes playfully. "shut up. anyways, you see that girl cady over there?" the two turn to see cady shyly waving their way. y/n nodded. "yeah. i invited her tonight." that sentence makes regina's blood boil even more. y/n was hers and she did not like sharing.
she brushed it off and continued. "well, be careful, she has like a huge crush on you." regina swore she saw y/n's eyes light up at that and decided to kick it up a few notches. she looked at y/n sadly as the older girl looked at her confused. "wow, i didn't think this would be hard for me." y/n looked dumbfounded. "what are you talking about?" regina looked up at y/n with the best hurt look she could muster. "i don't know, i just feel like i have a lot of unresolved trauma with how things ended between us."
y/n scoffed. "give me a break." regina scoffed back and stormed off. y/n sighed, feeling bad about what she said and followed regina. "regina. regina! come on." regina answered back. "leave me alone!" y/n sighed. "can we just talk about this?" she lost sight of regina as it felt like everyone froze in time.
if you were to ask y/n what happened to make her take regina back, she wouldn't be able to tell you because she might have blacked out when her brain processed how hot regina looked as an angel. but the night ended with them cuddled up together in regina's bed after multiple rounds of makeup sex. while the couple were making up, cady made a visit to janis and damian, cementing the plan to take regina down.
6 weeks in and the plan was going poorly. they had given her kalteen bars but they weren't taking the desired effect yet. they had sprayed regina with the sprinklers at the homecoming assembly but all they managed to do was make her look hotter. they had tried to crack gretchen into giving them dirt on regina but the only "big" thing they got was that y/n and regina hook up in the janitors closet during college prep. cady had really learned how evil regina could be when the hair situation came up.
she was at her locker when she saw y/n and regina approach. mustering her best fake smile, she turned to the couple. "hey girl! you sending any candy canes this year?" regina smirked, pulling y/n along with her. "oh, i only send mine to y/n and so most of the time i just get them." she smiled at cady and turned to y/n, who kept toying with her hair. regina looked at her and pushed her hair back, gently scratching y/n's scalp with her pink acrylics just the way y/n liked it. "stop pulling it down! your hair looks so sexy pushed back." regina then turned to cady smirking.
"cady, would you please tell her that her hair looks sexy pushed back?" she leaned her head on y/n's shoulder, smirking at cady. not wanting to explode, cady responded. "your hair looks sexy pushed back." y/n smiled slightly at her and went to thank her but was pulled into a kiss by regina. the two pulled away and regina walked forward, pulling y/n along with her. cady watched with a sigh as the two walked off, watching y/n wrap her arm around regina's waist.
then came the talent show. at this point in time, janis and damian had partially given up with the plan, mainly because janis saw how happy y/n was again and didn't want to ruin it, while damian agreed with her. but cady was too far deep, she had to finish it so she had y/n to herself.
regina was cranky before the talent show due to her new diet and to the fact that y/n wasn't going to be there thanks to an out of town soccer game so no one was safe from her wrath. it didn't get any better when gretchen kept asking her about practicing or when her outfit felt a little tight and it definitely didn't get better when she ate shit in front of the whole school.
regina had never been more embarrassed than she was in that moment. she felt like her life was falling apart. she got up, dusted herself off, and ran all the way to the exit and to her car.
y/n had seen the video by the time the game was over. her heart broke for her girlfriend as the bus headed back to the school. she couldn't wait to get back so she could go and take care of her  but she kept watching the video and noticed something. after regina falls and runs off, cady has a smirk on her face, posing for the crowd as the curtain shut. y/n didn't like what she was seeing and she definitely had a bad feeling about the redhead.
when she got back to the school, she immediately got in her car and headed to regina's house. she had bigger problems to worry about.
regina sighed as she grabbed her salad and headed to their usual lunch table. she was wearing sweatpants and was breaking the "rules" but she didn't care. sweats were all that fit her at the moment and she was wearing y/n's soccer hoodie and smelled like her so she didn't care. if she thought falling at the talent show was embarrassing, getting banished from the plastics table was even worse. however, she left with her head held high but everyone had videoed the whole situation.
she ran into y/n who looked over the blonde's shoulder to see cady waving at her with a flirty smile on her face. she glared at the girl and led regina to her table, sending murderous looks at anyone who looked at her girlfriend wrong. regina spent the rest of lunch tucked into y/n's side as the girl rubbed her back.
cady had decided the next day to invite y/n to her "small" get together and even though her gut told her no, y/n decided to take the risk and see if she could figure cady out.
unfortunately for cady, the party was not "small" and half the school showed up at her house. too stressed to function, she took shot after shot before stopping karen and asking if she had seen y/n. she just pointed in the direction of the stairs and cady raced up them, finding y/n in her room, nursing a beer and looking at baby pictures of cady.
cady had tried to make a move on y/n, only to be shut down extremely quick by y/n, who stormed out of the party, running into janis and damian, who was driving his grandma's electric scooter. janis informed her that she won her art show and was looking for cady, who drunkenly stumbled into the front yard, looking for y/n.
janis had exploded on cady, exposing her and her plan to ruin regina's life which caught y/n's attention. now everything made sense to y/n, the kalteen bars, cady dressing just like regina, taking over the plastics, all the pieces clicked into place for the older girl.
cady was a bitchier clone of regina.
y/n allowed damian to take janis for a little joyride to cool her off as she headed to regina's. ms. george had told her that regina had a mild breakdown, which made y/n worry more. she thanked the blonde woman for informing her before heading up to regina's room. she found her curled up in bed, wearing a crewneck sweatshirt that y/n had bought her and holding a pillow to her chest.
y/n's heart broke at the sight as she slipped her shoes off and slid into the bed behind regina. the blonde turned over and buried her face into y/n's chest, allowing the comforting embrace of the girl to calm her down. once she felt that regina had calmed down enough, she explained what happened between her and cady at the party, leaving out the part where janis exposed her. she felt regina tense up when she told her that she made a move on her and relax when she reassured her that nothing happened.
the couple laid in bed for a little longer before y/n finally fell asleep. once she was good and asleep, regina calmly slid out of bed, grabbing the burn book with one goal in mind.
cady heron may have won the battle, but regina was going to win this war.
the next morning, regina had woken up earlier than y/n in order to get everything together. she left a note for y/n before heading up to the school to execute the plan. she dropped the burn book on the ground in the middle of the hallway, waiting for hell to break loose.
and break loose it did. so much so, mr. duvall called an emergency assembly for all junior girls in the gym. regina was still playing the victim card even in the gym as all the girls began the rounds of apologies. once janis went up there, she exposed cady for the fraud that she was, including her plan to try to break y/n and regina up, which made the blonde steam with rage.
regina sent an ugly glare to cady before marching out of the gym, cady hot on her heels. y/n was at her locker when the two stormed by, her gut telling her to follow the pair before it got ugly. cady had chased regina out of the school and to the end of the sidewalk where y/n noticed the bus speeding towards them. with neither of them listening to the older girl and the bus gaining speed, y/n decided to play hero. she shoved regina out of the way before pain erupted throughout her whole body and the world turned black.
"and that's how my sister died."
"quit telling everyone i'm dead janis!"
"sometimes, i can still hear her voice!"
y/n was discharged from the hospital after a week and regina refused to let her out of her sight. going as far as making y/n essentially live with her while she healed. meanwhile, things at school were tense. regina iced out cady, karen, and gretchen, leading her to sit at janis and damian's table at lunch, the trio talking about y/n's recovery process most days.
when y/n was cleared to go back to school, she had to wear a corrective neck collar which garnered stares from all her classmates. but luckily for her, they didn't last long with janis and regina as her guard dogs. with one glare from the ice queen, no one dared to look at y/n wrong. cady had tried to come and apologize but janis wouldn't let her near her sister or regina. regina was grateful for janis throughout this whole process. they had begun to rekindle their friendship and didn't go at each others throats as much.
karen and gretchen had come around to apologize and after much convincing from y/n, regina forgave them, uniting the plastics once more. then came the topic of spring fling. regina was okay with not going, opting to spend the night in with y/n but the older girl told her no. they were going to spring fling, and they were going to look hot doing it.
regina wore a dark blue dress that showed a generous amount of cleavage and skin while y/n wore a suit the same dark blue to match. regina had been glued to y/n's side throughout the whole night. the only time they parted was when regina had to go onto the stage for the announcement of the king and queen.
to everyone's surprise, cady won spring fling queen. after giving out her apology speech and throwing pieces of the plastic tiara to the girls who deserved it, mr. duvall took over the mic. regina walked off stage with a big smile on her face, walking to where y/n stood talking with aaron and damian. once she caught sight of the blonde, she gingerly opened her arms for hug, which regina happily gave.
"i'm sorry you didn't win baby." regina shook her head. "i won before i walked onto the stage. i'm here with you aren't i?" y/n laughed at how sappy the blonde was acting. "oh no, what will the school think when they find out you're actually a big softie?" regina scoffed. "shut up." and with that, leaned up and kissed y/n passionately as confetti rained from the ceiling.
"and with that, our story comes to an end. but remember kids, don't jump in front of a bus, or you'll look worse than my sister does."
"janis!"

how about kate trying to pretend they don’t have feelings for eva during cheer practice and chess teasing her about it. maybe at eva finally confessing to kate?
There were few things Kate hated more than cheer practice. As far as she was concerned, there were billions of better ways to spend every afternoon after school, like getting a tooth pulled at the dentist or going for a walk in the rain in socks.
But unfortunately for them, Chess (for some reason completely beyond Kate) actually enjoyed cheer, and she was both Kate’s best friend and her ride home from school, so four days a week, after school, Kate found themself in the gym, tuning out Riley’s endless chatter and daydreaming about going home.
Equally unfortunately for them, this year the Tigers had a new teammate, a transfer from West High with a cheer scholarship, an interest in climatology, and a pride pin on her backpack.
After their very first practice, on the drive home, Kate had made the mistake of commenting to Chess that Eva was kind of cute, and now Chess would not shut up about the crush she was so sure Kate had on Eva.
(She was a little bit right.)
(Just a little.)
(She didn’t need to know that, though.)
And it definitely didn’t help that Eva was actually super funny and really cool and that somehow, she’d been the first friend Kate had made since Chess in first grade. It didn’t help that the two of them had started texting regularly, had been doing math homework together, or that Kate had already lent Eva her copy of their favorite book, which she normally coveted and jealously guarded like a dragon with a very pathetic hoard of one slightly battered paperback copy of Last Night at the Telegraph Club.
All of these things had served two purposes: making Kate like Eva even more, and making Chess even more insufferable about it.
However, they had not served the purpose of making Kate enjoy cheer practice any more.
“Why the cheer team?” she asked as Chess moved textbooks and notebooks between her backpack and her locker. “You realize Giles Corey has a gymnastics team, right?”
“You realize I don’t want to join the school’s gymnastics team, right?” Chess asked, mimicking Kate’s tone. “Cheer is perfectly fine. And it’s more of a team sport than gymnastics is, I like that.”
“I don’t.”
“Kate, you didn’t have to join,” Chess reminded her. They’d had this conversation too many times to count, and by now it was more light-hearted than anything.
“Neither did you.” Kate closed Chess’s locker for her. “Maybe you should’ve joined the chess club.”
“That is literally the worst joke I’ve heard about my name yet.”
“Was not!” Kate protested as they started down the stairs.
“Was too.”
“It was not. And the chess club would be way more fun than the walking migraine that is Riley Williams.”
“You would hate chess. Have you ever even played?”
“Well…”
“And I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen you sit still longer than five minutes.”
“Hey! I can totally sit still!”
Chess raised a skeptical eyebrow as they reached the bottom of the stairs. Kate stuck her tongue out at her as she passed, and caught a glimpse of her (affectionate) eye roll.
“Look, I know you don’t hate cheer nearly as much as you say you do,” Chess told them as they walked down the hallway to the locker room. “It’s fun!”
“It is about as fun as drowning.”
“And I know you don’t hate the team that much,” Chess continued.
“Don’t,” Kate groaned.
“Especially not Eva,” she added with a mischievous wink that made Kate reevaluate their entire friendship of over a decade.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she told her.
“So you do hate Eva?”
Kate hesitated.
“You think she’s as annoying as everyone else on the squad?” Chess pressed, grinning. “D’you think she’s a walking migraine?”
“Okay, there’s literally nobody on Earth as annoying as Riley,” Kate pointed out. “I don’t even hate Annleigh as much as I hate Riley.”
“Fair, but you’re dodging the question.” Chess pulled open the locker room door. “D’you hate Eva?”
“Does who hate me?” asked a voice inside the locker room. Kate’s stomach flipped upside down, and she seriously considered abandoning Chess in the middle of the woods to fend for herself.
“Oh, Kate was just complaining about all the things she hates about cheer practice,” Chess explained easily.
“In character for you,” Eva said with a smile that made Kate’s brain pause for a moment. There was probably a little gray loading circle floating above their head. “Am I on that very extensive list?”
“Um…” Kate hesitated, then shook it off, trying to act normal. “No.” They shot Chess a glare. “Chess is on thin fucking ice at the moment, though.”
“Hey!”
Eva laughed, sitting on the bench to lace up her sneakers. “Chess, what did you do?”
Shit.
“Um. She’s just… on my nerves?” Kate said quickly, before Chess could answer. “Anyways, have you been reading the book I lent you?”
Eva’s eyes lit up. “I’m just about at the epilogue! It’s so good, I see why you love it.”
“Isn’t it?” Kate breathed a sigh of relief at managing to turn the conversation away from her crush on Eva, and thanked whatever god was out there that Chess let them talk about the book, rather than continuing to press - although Kate was seriously not a fan of the expression on her face.
Once Eva finished tying her shoes, she left the room for the gym with a smile and a “See you in a few minutes!” Kate smiled back at her, but the smile quickly switched to a frown as soon as the door was shut.
“Seriously?” she asked Chess. “Seriously?”
“What?”
“If you want me to get a girlfriend, you are not going to do that by telling a girl about how I hate everything about cheer, which is her hobby and which she actually likes doing, and asking me if I hate her in front of her.”
“Hey, I’m doing my best here. It’d be easier if you would admit the fact that you do, in fact, want her to be your girlfriend.”
“Admit it to you? Are you joking?”
Chess grinned at Kate, and they silently cursed the fact that Chess knew her more than well enough to know they weren’t really that mad at her. “Just trust me, I mostly know what I’m doing.”
“I’m starting to think you don’t actually want me to get a girlfriend, you just want to embarrass me,” Kate grumbled.
“I embarrass you because I love you.”
“Doesn’t feel like love.”
“It’s tough love.”
“Is all your love tough love?”
“Maybe.”
“You’re the worst.”
Chess laughed and reached to ruffle Kate’s hair. “C’mon, let’s get going. Faster we go, the sooner we’re done.”
“Or we could just not go,” Kate muttered, but she followed her through the door anyway, just like she always did.

kate and eva applying for college! maybe kate’s stressed they won’t stay together through graduation
“I keep getting emails specifically from colleges in Michigan. I have never been to Michigan, I know nobody in Michigan, and I have no desire to ever go to Michigan.”
Eva smiled a little and leaned over to rest her chin on Kate’s shoulder, looking at their computer screen. “I think College Board is trying to tell you something.”
“D’you think I have some sort of grand destiny in Michigan?”
“Maybe.”
“Hm.” Kate checked the boxes next to the seven emails and hit delete. “Sorry, College Board. If I have some sort of grand destiny, you’ll have to try harder.”
“Babe, it’s College Board. What else do you think they can do?”
“Write ‘GO TO MICHIGAN’ in huge bold text on all my AP exams.”
Eva laughed and kissed Kate’s cheek, then sat up and returned to her own laptop.
Kate leaned against her shoulder with a sigh. “What are you looking at?”
Eva scrolled back up to the top of the page so Kate could read the title.
“Woah,” she breathed, eyes widening a little bit. “Stanford?”
“Mm-hmm.” Eva scrolled back down to where she’d been reading. “They’ve got a really awesome environmental science program. Plus, you know. Stanford would look really good to a lot of jobs I might apply to after I graduate.”
“Yeah, you think?”
For a few moments, they both read the page in relative silence, until Eva switched to the page for Colorado State University’s ecosystem science degree.
“What are you thinking?” Kate asked, still leaning against her shoulder.
Eva shrugged a little. “Honestly, I’m not sure yet. Got a list of places I might apply to, though.”
“I thought you really wanted to go to MIT.”
“That would definitely be really cool, but I don’t want to have my heart set on any one school, and particularly not one with a 7% acceptance rate. It’d be nice to keep my options open, you know?”
“Yeah.”
Eva leaned back a little, letting her attention shift to Kate’s abandoned laptop. “What are you thinking?”
“I’m not sure yet. My parents still want me to go to Tufts, since that’s where they both went, which means that so far, the criteria I’m looking for are…” Kate pretended to think. “Not Tufts.”
Eva laughed. “That’s very specific.”
“Hey, it’s more narrowed down than every college or university in the world.”
“I guess.”
Kate shrugged. “I really don’t know what to look for, though. I don’t even know what I want to study.”
“You’re good at English. You could major in English literature.”
“Maybe.” Kate opened up a new search window, but didn’t type anything. “I just… I don’t know. I don’t even really know what I want to do with my life.”
“You could be a vet. You like animals.”
“I don’t know. Maybe.”
Eva frowned a little. “Are you okay?”
“Fine, why?”
“You just seem a little… I don’t know. Off.”
Kate was quiet for a few seconds. “I just… you know I really don’t like change.”
“I know.”
“And thinking about college… kind of a big fucking change.” They pushed her laptop away and pulled her knees up to their chest. “And a year from now, we’re supposed to be away at college, and I don’t even know where to start looking, or what I want to major in, or- I just don’t even know where I want to be a year from now, and I don’t exactly have a ton of time to figure it out.”
Eva carefully slipped an arm around Kate’s shoulders, pulling her a little bit closer. “I know. This is really, really big, and it’s scary.”
“And then I just…” Kate trailed off, and for a moment, the silence felt almost crushing.
“Yeah?” Eva finally prompted.
“It’s stupid.”
“I doubt that.”
Kate sighed a little. “And then there’s the fact that, like… a year from now we’re both going to be in college, and neither of us know exactly where we’re going, and who knows how far apart we’ll be?”
For a moment, those words hung in the air.
“You’re freaked out about the distance, aren’t you?” Eva asked quietly.
“Among other things, yeah.” Kate stared straight ahead, not looking at her. “And even setting aside possible distance, like… we’ll both be in college, we’ll be busy, we’ll be surrounded by new people, and-” Kate cut herself off suddenly, still not looking at Eva. “I don’t… There’s so many ways being long distance can go wrong. And I can’t even stop it, I can’t change the fact that we’re graduating at the end of the year, I can’t…” They shook her head. “I’m scared you’re going to forget about me.”
“Kate-”
“Both my literal siblings forgot about me the second they went off to their cool fancy colleges with their cool fancy new friends,” Kate continued. “I haven’t spoken to either of them in a couple of months, and they’re my siblings, they’re- they’re not supposed to forget about me.”
For a few moments, neither of them said anything while Eva tried to figure out what to say.
“I won’t forget about you, Kate,” she finally said softly.
“You don’t know that.”
“You don’t know that, either.”
Kate said nothing.
“I know you’re scared,” Eva continued, “and to be totally honest, I’m kind of scared, too. You mean a lot to me, and the thought of not having you in my life… it’s terrifying.” She paused. “But… look, it’s not like we’re the first couple to ever go through this, you know? And I know that there are plenty of couples who don’t make it through college, but I also know that there are plenty who do. And I know that I trust you, and I love you, and I know that neither of us want this to break us. And I know that we’re both stubborn as fuck, and we can absolutely make this work.”
That earned her a tiny smile. “You think so?”
“‘Course I do.”
Kate shifted so they could finally look her in the eyes. “Promise you’re not going to give up when being long distance gets hard?”
Eva held up her pinky finger. “Promise.”
Kate hesitated, then grinned at her, and they pinky promised it, hands falling to the blanket between their laps.
“And,” Eva added, “like you said, neither of us actually know exactly where we’re going yet. Maybe we’ll end up at the exact same school.”
“I’m not applying to Stanford, V.”
Eva lightly hit her arm. “Okay, maybe we’ll end up near each other, at least.”
“Maybe.”
Eva untangled her hand from Kate’s to bring it up to their face, brushing her hair out of their eyes. “We’re gonna be just fine, K. You’ll see.”
For a moment, Kate just stared at her with an expression she couldn’t quite read. “You know what’s weird?”
“What?”
“I think I actually believe you.”

~
For whatever reason, the next day, as Eva drove the now-familiar route to Kate’s house, she felt oddly… nervous.
Maybe she shouldn’t have brought up Valentine’s Day. None of their friends would be at all surprised if neither of them had said they just weren’t into the idea of doing anything special for some random, cliche, lovey-dovey holiday.
But there was just… maybe there was just some part of Eva that wanted that.
She wanted the teasing from Chess, wanted to be able to blush and giggle and admit that Kate had done something sweet for her. She wanted to know that Kate cared about her enough to show it, even though Kate was not the sort of person who enjoyed Valentine’s Day at all.
But she pushed away the part of her that wanted it, because it was never, ever going to happen. The only reason Kate even talked to her at all was because she was the new girl, and she was a lesbian, and she was someone conveniently there for Kate to date to get Cairo off her ass about Chess. Eva knew what it felt like to hold hands with Kate, to whisper with them in the back of their English class, to wake up to texts with timestamps from all hours of the night, but she didn’t know that because any of it was real. She could pretend it was, just for a few seconds, but it didn’t change the fact that Kate didn’t like her that way.
She parked on the curb outside of Kate’s house and reached for her phone to let Kate know she was here, but before she could even unlock her phone, the front door swung open and Kate came rushing out, backpack over one shoulder and more put together half an hour early than she normally was at the normal time Eva picked them up. Eva wondered if she was imagining the way Kate looked a little bit… almost nervous, almost the same way Eva felt, but she dismissed it as nothing as she unlocked the car door.
“Good morning,” she said as Kate tossed their bag into the backseat.
Kate didn’t meet her eyes, which was honestly normal. “Morning.”
Eva tore her gaze away from Kate and looked at the road ahead of her. “So… coffee?”
“Mm-hmm.”
They got a mile and a half from Kate’s house, within a block of their favorite coffee shop, before Kate mumbled “Happy Valentine’s Day,” in a small voice.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Eva responded, trying to keep her voice from shaking.
The tension hadn’t disappeared by the time they got to school, unfortunately, and they didn’t look at each other as they got out of the car, drinks in hand (white chocolate mocha for Kate, latte with cinnamon on top for Eva) - but as Eva stuffed her keys in her pocket, she looked up to see Kate holding out their free hand. For a moment, she hesitated, but then the voice in her head shouted at her to act normal, so she smiled and took Kate’s hand as the two of them began to walk into the building.
When they got to the library, where their friends always met every morning, they were the last ones there. Annleigh was giggling, a light blush covering her entire face, and she had a bouquet of roses and a teddy bear holding a red heart on her lap. Eva glanced to the side just in time to see Kate roll their eyes, and she barely managed not to laugh when Kate turned and whispered “God, they’re literally sickening. Clark’s not even here and I’m gonna throw up.”
“I think I missed a golden opportunity to embarrass you,” Eva whispered back. “You know, I do have a free period right before lunch today… I wonder if the grocery store has any more red roses and sappy heart-shaped cards?”
“I will absolutely break up with you in a heartbeat if you even think about it,” Kate threatened, and Eva failed to muffle a laugh. The two of them sat down in their normal spot, on the floor next to the couch where Chess always sat, and Eva felt an unfortunately familiar flutter in her chest as Kate leaned against her side, sipping their drink and watching Farrah tease Annleigh. Chess caught her eye, and Eva quickly glanced away, hoping she wasn’t nearly as red as she felt.
“So?” Chess asked in a low voice, talking just to the two of them. She nodded towards their matching takeaway cups. “Valentine’s coffee date?”
Eva hesitantly nodded. “Um, yeah.”
Chess smiled a little, almost mischievously. “Never thought you were the type to like cliche Valentine’s Day dates, Kate.”
“Shut up,” Kate told her, almost a little too quickly.
Chess raised an eyebrow, but said nothing besides a simple “You guys are good together.”
Eva managed a smile and looked down, trying to breathe steadily. Kate leaned a little closer, and Eva willed her heartbeat to slow down.
Impulsively, cursing herself for it the whole time, she bent and pressed a fast kiss to Kate’s temple, pulling away as quickly as she’d moved towards them. Kate glanced up at her, eyes wide, and Eva wondered if she was imagining the way Kate’s face had gone just a little bit pink.
“What was that?” they whispered to her.
Eva shrugged a little. “Affection. Couples do that, you know.”
Kate narrowed her eyes at her, a smile playing at the corner of their mouth. “Snarky.”
“You’re one to talk.”
Kate couldn’t contain the smile at that, and Eva’s heart skipped a beat as she grinned at her. They started to turn away, but then glanced up at her and whispered, “You can do it again. If you want.”
For a moment, Eva hesitated, but then she did it again, and knew she’d see Kate’s smile in her mind for the rest of the day.
~
As the bell rang to start Eva’s free period, she settled into her favorite spot near the auditorium, breathing a sigh of relief to finally have a break. All day, she’d had to watch happy (real) couples be sappy and sweet, and while last year she would’ve rolled her eyes and thought they were disgusting and ridiculous, this year, all she could do was look away and try to pretend it didn’t make her think about Kate.
Her fake girlfriend.
Absolutely not someone Eva had any sort of real feelings for at all.
Nope. No. Not going to think about that. Not now.
Eva pushed away all thoughts of Kate’s smile this morning in the library, the sound of her voice when they whispered to her, and unzipped her bag, reaching for her laptop to start her English homework. As she did, something in the bottom of her bag caught her eye, and she reached to grab it, a little confused - even more confused when she realized it was a card, made out of plain white printer paper, with her name and a little green heart on the front.
Eva,
Happy Valentine’s Day to the best fake girlfriend ever. I’m truly the luckiest liar in the entire world, to get to pretend to be dating you. To get to be the person holding your hand and whispering to you and texting you in the middle of the night. I know we’re not actually together, but I still really like being with you.
Actually, I think I kind of like it too much.
I really, really like you, Eva. I don’t care if it’s real or not, the last five months with you have been stupidly perfect. I really like everything about you, your laugh and the expression you get when you’re really focused on something and the way you look at me, like you genuinely care about me, like you like spending time with me. I really like the way I feel when I’m around you, like the world isn’t that bad after all, because how could it be, when I’m next to you?
It’s 2 AM and I know I’m going to regret this, and I’m sorry this is sappy and stupid and cliche, but it’s the truth. I have feelings for you, Eva, and they’re 100% real.
Love, Kate
(PS, red hearts felt way too cliche, so I made them green. That’s your favorite color, right?)
Eva read the whole thing four times, her heart threatening to beat out of her chest. The way she felt about Kate, everything she’d wanted to say but couldn’t, everything she’d struggled to keep a secret… the whole time, Kate was feeling all of the same things? Kate liked her just as much?
Eva Sanchez, 11:28 AM: You’re right. Green is my favorite color
Kate Dalton, 11:28 AM: … you read the card?
Eva Sanchez, 11:30 AM: Shouldn’t you be in math?
Kate Dalton, 11:31 AM: math is irrelevant
Kate Dalton, 11:31 AM: you read the card?
Eva Sanchez, 11:32 AM: I read the card
Kate Dalton, 11:33 AM: … and?
Eva Sanchez, 11:33 AM: I like you too
Eva Sanchez, 11:34 AM: And I don’t mean that in a fake way
Eva watched Kate’s typing bubble appear, then disappear, then appear, then disappear, for a few minutes before finally disappearing and not coming back. She kept staring at her phone screen anyway, chewing her thumbnail anxiously, feeling like she was going to puke if Kate didn’t say something soon.
“Hey,” a voice said, cutting through her thoughts.
She looked up, surprised, her heart jumping as Kate sat next to her, just a few inches away. “Don’t you have class?”
Kate shrugged, staring at the tiled floor. “Yeah. But… I mean, I knew you had this period off, and I figured you’d probably read the card around now, and I just… I was too nervous to do calculus.”
Eva grinned a little, gently nudging Kate’s shoulder with her own. “You were nervous?”
Kate huffed, definitely bright red. “Yes, okay? I wrote you a really stupid, sappy, cliche letter and confessed all my stupid feelings for you. I was fucking petrified.”
“I don’t think the card was stupid,” Eva admitted. “Sappy and cliche, yes. But I thought it was sweet.”
Silence for three heartbeats.
“And,” Eva continued, “I know you saw my text. You know I like you too, right?”
Kate took a deep breath and looked at her, eyes wide and… a little scared. “You meant that?”
“Yeah. Of course I did.”
Kate scooted a little closer, and Eva put an arm around her shoulders, pulling them closer. “So… are we real girlfriends now?”
Eva kissed Kate’s temple. “Yeah. I think we are.”
For a moment, they just sat in silence together, savoring those words, before eventually Kate spoke up.
“Did we seriously get together on Valentine’s Day?” they asked. “That’s so fucking cliche. I hate it.”
Eva just laughed, and Kate grinned at her, and yeah, maybe it was cliche, but Eva decided to revel in the cliche-ness of it all, and in the feeling of her real girlfriend pressed against her side.

Reader: wow! I’m so curious how you’re going to fit everything you’ve been foreshadowing in here!
Me, frantically flipping through my notes, trying to figure out if I’ve accidentally foreshadowed something I Shouldn’t Have: ummm, yes. Right. Uh, just for fun, would you mind telling me what, that would be… exactly.

More Than Happy
Wanda Maximoff x Romanoff!Reader
Word count: 1.3K
Request has been lost in the abyss that is tumblr but it was about the reader not wanting kids
You winced a little as the screaming children ran by you. You had all convinced Tony not to throw a giant party, but he insisted on some sort of celebration after getting everyone back, so here you were. The team and their newly reunited families having a barbecue. With Clint’s family blipping (you still can’t believe that’s what they decided to call this whole thing) Nate and Morgan were now the same age. That led to twice the noise and the two six year olds were the best birth control you’d ever seen. If you wanted kids before, you surely didn’t right now.
Not that you had really wanted them in the first place. It just was never something you pictured for yourself. You’d grow up and become an Avenger like your mom. You’d save the world, and that would be your life. Wanda was a welcome surprise, and you’re beyond glad to have her back. You never thought you’d love anyone as much as you love her, and five years without her was excruciating.
“Earth to y/n,” Tony’s voice paired with Wanda squeezing your hand pulls you out of your thoughts.
“Are you alright, my love?” Wanda asks quietly and you nod.
“Yeah, just got lost in my head is all,” you reassure her, pressing a kiss to her cheek before turning back to the group, “what were we talking about?”
“I was asking when you two were gonna settle down,” Clint says and you roll your eyes, Wanda letting out a laugh.
“We were fighting an alien to save the world like a week ago. Before that I was kinda, ya know, dead. So we haven’t exactly had a time to plan it out,” Wanda says and you flinch, eyebrows scrunched together.
“Don’t say that,” you mumble and Clint sends you a sympathetic smile. He knows exactly what you’ve felt these last few years. Hearing the love of your life so casually talk about her death, it brings back all the memories. Watching her disintegrate right in front of you, having to try and live your life without her, it’s not something you enjoy remembering.
“You’re right. I’m sorry. My point was, we’re settling down now, as much as we can, right?” she directs the question towards you and you nod, pulling her closer into your arms as if she wasn’t already practically in your lap.
“Yeah, I mean we already have to move out of the compound, so we’ve talked about getting our own place, maybe pulling back from missions for a while,” you explain and Tony rolls his eyes.
“That’s not what we meant,” he says and you share a confused look with Wanda.
“Then...what did you mean?” you ask, wary of his answer. He knows you have a ring, have for the last five and a half years, and if he ruins the surprise you’re going to smack him.
“Kids. When are you two gonna have some of your own?” He asks and you snort out a laugh.
“Never,” is your answer and Clint sends you a questioning look. Tony lets out a much more undignified squawk, causing you and Wanda to bust out laughing, drawing the attention of everyone else.
“What’s going on over here?” your mom asks as she, Steve, Bucky, and Pepper join the group.
“Your child said she’s never having kids!” Tony yells at your mom who just shrugs.
“And?” she prompts and Tony’s jaw drops.
“But…but…” he trails off.
“I think what he’s trying to say is he always expected to have another generation of Romanoffs running around here, and he’s shocked,” Clint  tries to explain.
“I don’t want kids. Wanda doesn’t want kids. Neither of us really care for them. I fail to see how anyone else’s desires really matter here,” you say stiffly, this really isn’t the conversation you want to be having right now.
“How can you not like kids? You were a kid once,” Clint argues and you roll your eyes.
“I was also once in the med wing for a week after trying to fly in Tony’s suit. Some things don’t need to be repeated Barton,” you say, trying and failing to keep the edge out of your voice.
“How could you ever be happy without them?” Tony argues.
“I’m plenty happy now. I don’t need a child for that,” you say as calmly as you can manage.
“What if Natasha wanted to be a grandmother!” Tony yells, for some reason this is the hill he’s chosen to die on, and his insistence is really starting to frustrate you.
“That’s not her decision! Trust me, I already know just how disappointed she’ll be in me that I don’t want kids,” you snap and the group falls silent for a few moments.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” your mom asks softly and all your attention snaps to her, breathing picking up as you start to panic.
“Alright, let’s table this conversation for later,” Pepper interjects as Tony goes to speak up again, Wanda nodding in agreement.
“Yeah, I agree. We’re gonna go for a walk, and calm down a bit. We’ll be back soon, alright?” She directs the question towards you and you nod, letting her help you up and lead you away from the group as your hands start to shake. You hear people arguing behind you, probably Steve trying to convince your mom to give you some space, but you pay it no mind. The only thing you’re focusing on is Wanda taking your hand, and her soft reassurances as you walk further and further from the group.
“I’m sorry,” you murmur after a while Wanda shakes her head, pushing your hair out of your face and sending you a reassuring smile.
“You have nothing to be sorry for. It was none of Tony’s business. I don’t get why he was so insistent,” she says and you frown, avoiding eye contact.
“Are you happy with me? With just me?” you ask and Wanda’s brows furrow. “Am I enough?”
“You are more than enough, y/n. I love you. I love how you fight for what you believe in. I love how you never gave up. I love how you spent five years, fighting to get me back. I want you. I am happy with you. I don’t need anything else,” she promises, but there’s still doubt creeping into your mind.
“But what they said-” she cuts you off.
“Forget what they said. They aren’t us. My parents weren’t there, and it wasn’t their fault, but I wouldn’t even know where to start with kids. And you spent the first 10 years of your life in orphanages before your mom found you. With what we do, tomorrow isn’t promised and I couldn’t live with myself if I left the house everyday knowing we may do to a child what was done to us. I don’t want the risk of leaving a child without a parent hanging over my head, and I don’t want to give up what we’re good at. I’m fine with never having kids, y/n. I am more than happy without them. I’m more than happy with you. They’re loud and messy anyways,” she finishes with a laugh and you smile at her, pressing a kiss to her lips.
“I’m happy too,” you breathe as you pull away.
“Good. Now, are you ready to go face the wolves?” she nods towards where your family is and you sigh.
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” you mumble and as you get closer you can hear yelling, your mom’s voice cutting off Tony.
“It’s her life! Not mine, not yours. The only opinions that matter are her’s and Wanda’s. If they don’t want kids, who cares?” she finishes as you return to the group, a sense of relief washing over you.
“You’re not upset?” you ask and your mom turns to you, brows furrowed a bit.
“Of course not, love. You are free to live your life however you want. There’s no shortage of children around here,” she gestures to the kids running around, oblivious to the turmoil around them, “and babies are kinda gross anyways. All I want is for you to be happy.”
At that you crash into her arms, letting out a sigh of relief. As you pull away you glance back at Wanda, smiling involuntarily. “Yeah, I’m more than happy.”

Stretch
Wanda Maximoff x Romanoff!Reader
Word count: 745
Request: i saw your one-shot about being short so how about being tall and nat’s daughter and maybe dating wanda??
“OW!” you shout, rubbing your forehead from where you just slammed it into the cupboard.
“You good there Romanoff?” Tony asks, seemingly sweet, but you can hear the laughter in his voice.
“I’m fine, this compound just wasn’t built for people over 5’9. Not all of us can be as short as you, uncle Tony.” “OOOO burn!” Peter yells and Tony rolls his eyes.
“Kid, first off, I’m taller than you. Second, it is too early for you to be that loud,” Tony grumbles into his coffee and Peter shrugs.
“I’m 17. I’m still growing, you’re done. You’ll always be that short old man,” he says before running away, probably a smart move as Tony glares after him, grumbling something about ungrateful children.
“What’s Peter running from?” Wanda asks through a yawn, stumbling into the kitchen and immediately heading to the coffee pot.
“He called Tony old because Tony called him short,” You fill her in and she rolls her eyes.
“It’s too early for this nonsense.”
“Try slamming your head into the cabinet. It’ll wake you up real quick,” you say, drawing Wanda’s attention to the red mark on your forehead. She lets out an exasperated sigh and you smile down at her.
“You’re too tall for your own good, my love. Are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m okay. And it’s useful for missions and stuff! I can be a lookout!” you try to argue as another voice joins the conversation.
“You mean get us all spotted because you don’t fit in any of our hiding places?” your mom asks and you groan.
“That happened one time and I’ve apologized like 12 times! Plus, I got to punch a bunch of hydra agents and you still got the information. So I’d call it a win win,” you grin triumphantly.
“You better get going, stretch. You’re gonna be late for school,” your mom says and you roll your eyes.
“You’re just saying that cause you know I’m right!” you call over your shoulder as you leave the kitchen.
~~~~~
“Hey string bean!” you hear MJ’s voice and you groan and turn from where you’re leaning against Wanda’s locker.
“I assume you’re talking to me?”
“Hey you responded, so obviously you know it’s an accurate nickname. Not my fault you’re built like a beanstalk,” she retorts and you glare, quickly snatching her phone and holding it over your head.
“Could a beanstalk do this?” you ask and she tries jumping for it, still several inches away.
“Y/n, that’s kinda mean don’t you think?” Wanda asks and you shrug. “Giver her her phone back.” “All she has to do is apologize,” you offer and MJ glares up at you.
"I will not accept defeat. You either win, or you die." Everyone freezes for a moment and you slowly hand her the phone
"All right, calm down, dude. It’s not that deep."
“I won didn’t I?”
“Only because I was afraid you were going to attempt to kill me over a cell phone. Why are short people so angry? Wanda you’re short, is it because y’all can’t reach the top shelf of your lockers?” you ask and your girlfriend rolls her eyes.
“I can reach it just fine,” she says and a red mist surrounds a textbook, gracefully floating it into her hands.
“Alright bad example, Peter!” you call to the boy who’s walking over, “I have a theory that short people are angry because they can’t reach the top shelf of their lockers. Is that true?”
“I’m not angry,” he says, webbing another book and pulling it into his hands, “and no. Not true.”
“Huh, are you just angry because you don’t have any powers?” you ask.
“You don’t have powers either,” she points out, glaring, and you shrug.
“Yeah, but I’m still an avenger. And I’m not short. Maybe it’s a combination of both? You have to be a boring normal person AND short, then you’re automatically angry.”
“Is she always this impossible?” She asks Wanda.
“You have no idea,” the witch responds with a roll of her eyes and you pout.
“I can still hear you ya know!”
“Really? I thought you were too tall. Aren’t you on a different level than us mere mortals?” MJ asks.
“First off, I don’t think Wanda or Peter can be considered ‘mere mortals’ second, stop being mean to me,” you whine, crossing your arms. The three simply laugh, Wanda grabbing your hand and leading you to your next class.
