Die winter is amptelik verby!!!!

Jare gelede is ons bederf toe n wonderlike vriendin die wonderlikste biltongter by ons gastehuis afgelaai het. Almal oe en aa!!! en skielik is dit neusie verby. Dit is 'n wenner.

Dink vandag aan my Ma-Floss veral daardie skilferkorsdeeg wat sy 4uur in die oggend gerol het want dit word te warm op Kameel. Die room wat in die "seperator" se tuit loop as die klokkie net reg "ping". Die wintersdae wanneer daar biltong gemaak word en die reuk van gebraaide koljander hang in die lug. Ai dit was goeie ou dae

Souttert met biltong en cheddarkaas

1 vel (400 g) gekoopte broskorsdeeg

250 g cheddarkaas, gerasper

150 g gesnyde biltong

4 eiers

375 ml room

Verhit oond tot 180 °C. Voer 'n gesmeerde tertbak van sowat 32 cm uit met deeg. Gooi cheddarkaas in bak en strooi biltong oor. Klits eiers en room saam en gooi oor vulsel. Plaas in warm oond en bak vir sowat 1 uur tot vulsel gestol het. Laat staan vir sowat 10 minute voor jy die tert voorsit.

It was a busy week at Kameel.

We are thankful that the railway tracks are still in use and we can spot the freight trains.

It was time to fill the bottles with marmalade.

A huge syringa tree kept the guys very busy this past week. A bedside lamp made from an old fuse stands proudly in a guest room. The joy of this time of the year is the veld aloes. The splashes of colour always leave a happy tune for the day.

Today I am sharing some special moments around #Kameel in the North West of South Africa. The village has more silos than residence but we have a wonderful farming community. The third generation of the Cloete Afrikaaner cattle. Sunset photo taken by Mariska Cloete. The ants are master builders of the houses. The Green Wood-Hoopoe is showing its true colours. When visiting Kameel you have to take a picture on the railway tracks. The ranunculus are in full bloom in the gardens at Kameel Huise Tussen Spore. There is always time for good memories of Victor and Hester on the farm in 1945.

In North West, there are not many buildings using stone.

We found the old family home at Lonely Hill, the original Post Office at Stella, an unused tank stand, also in Stella.

There is the original dam at Kameelbult, the stone wall built on the footprint of our corrugated house, many moons ago. The railway line at Kameel shows the mass use of ballast stone. The railway switch is bedded in stone. A section of the Foreman Cottage at Kameel built with Free State sandstone.
