Pairings: chris and y/n

warnings: self harm, crying, kissing, fluff, angst, eating disorder (anorexia, bulimia), body dysmorphia, new writer, lmk if i missed anything!

slight backstory: y/n has been struggling with an eating disorder since 15 (21 now) and struggling with sh since 13. y/n and chris have been dating for a bit over 2 months, so he hasn’t seen the scars, and has only seen her in baggy clothing. chris is 23.

y/n and chris lay on y/n’s bed, watching a movie. it was starting to get hot under the blankets, so y/n decided to change into shorts. “i haven’t worn shorts in 2 months. i don’t think they’ll fit…” y/n thought to herself. you and chris haven’t been dating long, so y/n was sure that if she had chris not look while she was changing, quickly got under the covers, he would notice the scars at all. “chris, i need to change its hot under the blankets,” y/n nervously says, sitting up slightly. “could you turn around for a sec?” chris nods and turns his head and pulls out his phone to keep him occupied while y/n changes. y/n hesitates to get up but she does. she walks over to her shorts drawer, which hasn’t been opened in awhile. she opens it, picks the first shorts she sees first, and quickly shuts the drawer. y/n stands in front of the mirror next to the bed, and looks at chris through the mirror, making sure he’s not looking. she knows that he wouldn’t, it’s just that she is paranoid. she hasn’t changed in the same room as him, and she definitely hasn’t told him about her sh and her eating disorder. y/n slowly takes off her baggy pajama pants and puts on the spandex shorts. “damn it, i really wish i picked different shorts…” she thinks. y/n turns in the mirror, slightly lifting up her shirt, enough to see her stomach. her eyes start to water, seeing her stomach in the mirror. she quickly drops her shirt and gets into back into the bed. “done chris, let’s finish the movie!” y/n says quietly. chris smiles and turns back to the movie.

*TIME SKIP, 30 MINS LATER*

chris, still focusing on the movie, absentmindedly moves his hand to y/n’s thigh, a habit chris formed when they started dating. y/n heart drops. he’s only done this with her having pants on, not shorts. y/n is frozen in fear, hoping what might happen, will not.

“baby what’s that on your thigh?”

chris asks. y/n’s eyes fill up with tears immediately. y/n slightly shakes her head. “oh, um, i-it’s nothing let’s finish the movie.” y/n quickly says, moving her body so chris’ hand isn’t on her thigh anymore.

“no, i’m serious, what’s that on your thigh?”

chris asks again, more firmly. “yeah, and i’m serious too!! it’s nothing.” y/n shouts. her heart is pounding as chris stares at her. in an instant, chris pulls off the covers to reveal y/n’s thighs covered in scars and marks. y/n shrieks and starts to sob as chris sits there in shock, staring at y/n’s legs.

chris snaps out of his thoughts, and pulls y/n into a hug. “baby are these new?” y/n starts to cry harder, confirming his question.

*TIME SKIP, 5 MIN LATER*

y/n has finally stopped crying. chris pulls away from the hug, and stares at y/n. “baby, how long have you been doing this?” y/n hearts burns of pain, scared of what chris might say, if he would break up with her or worse. “since i was 13. chris you weren’t supposed to find out yet.” chris’ heart stings out of sadness for y/n. “baby i want you to get better. if you need me to do anything, or to change something or whatever i will do it. i want you to talk to me. try anything to please not cut. i love you.” chris says, kissing y/n on the cheek and hugs her again. “y-you mean your not breaking up with me?” y/n whispers out of shock. all her ex boyfriends broke up with her once they found out.

chris pulls away and looks at her with confusion. “ma why would i do that?” he shakes his head. “i mean…all my exes—” “but am i your exes?” chris cuts y/n off, looking her in the eyes. she shakes her head and hugs him again. “please don’t tell anybody.” chris starts to think.

“her leg seemed kind of skinny. hopefully it’s just genetics or something like that.” chris thinks.

*ANOTHER TIME SKIP, 1 MONTH LATER*

y/n sits at the table, watching chris eat. ding! y/n picks up her phone to look at her notification, and she smiles. “what was that?” chris asks with a slight smile. he loves to see you happy. “i’ve been clean for a whole entire month!!” you say excitedly. “hey thats great!! im proud of you kid.” chris smiles, eating more of his frosted flakes. “are you sure you don’t want any food? i can make you something..” chris asks cautiously. he’s been suspicious of you having an eating disorder since he found out about your self harm. he’s been trying to encouraging you to eat as much as he could. “chris im fine!! im not very hungry anyways, i ate a lot yesterday.” you lie. you fake smile, but you are crying on the inside, you hate lying. chris half smiles. he can tell when you lie too. “anyways, do you want to go shopping or something to celebrate?” chris asks. you smile because he’s changing the subject. you nod. “maybe we can js walk around melrose and if you find a shop or something you can buy something there. i don’t really need any clothes right now.” you suggest. chris nods and gets up to put his bowl in the sink.

“what’re you guys talking about?” nick asks, groggily, he just woke up. chris glances at you, not knowing what to say. “me and chris were thinking about going to melrose later, want to join us?” you ask, smiling at nick. maybe more people being there could distract you from your hunger. nick nods his head and walks back upstairs to get ready. “have you told matt and nick yet?” chris asks. you purse your lips. “not…quite yet. maybe one day soon….”

*TIME SKIP, 3 HOURS LATER*

shit. you got your first cropped tank top in 4 years. chris said it would look good and you were so distracted that you forgot about your body. he was waiting for you to try it on. you reluctantly slipped on the shirt and looked at yourself in the mirror. “fuck. what the hell is going to think now…and the scars on my arms…” you whisper.

“chris you can come in now!!” you yell reluctantly. you brace yourself for when he walks in. “ma why didn’t you just walk—" chris stops in his tracks after seeing. you cover you mouth as tears start to stream down your cheeks. “baby dont cry…” chris whispers, pulling you into another hug.

*7 MONTHS LATER*

it’s been a full year since you and chris started dating. you’ve been doing a lot better, eating at least 2 meals a day, better than before. you’ve been a year clean of self harm and you’ve been doing better than ever.

y/n slightly open her eyes, and glances around the room. y/n picks up her phone and checks the time. 9:47. "SHIT!!" y/n yells, jumping out of bed and runs over to matt's closet. doing so, she wakes up matt. "y/n? what the fuck are you doing up so early?" matt asks groggily. "matt, i have class! i completely forgot...can i borrow some clothes i dont have any here...FUCK!! how did i forget….” y/n mutters. matt groans, and covers his head with one of his pillows. y/n grabs a random shirt and a pair of jeans and throws them on the bed. she sits down to take off her pants and matt removes the pillow. “you do realize that my jeans won’t fit you right?” he comments. y/n rolls her eyes and ignores him, putting on the jeans. they sit low on her waist, but she just lets it be, and putts on the shirt. matt grabs y/n’s arm before she leaves to go brush her hair. “come on y/n, stay with me.” y/n blinks, starting to blush. “matt you know i can’t—” matt cuts her off by dragging y/n onto the bed. “matt I’m serious, I’m going to be late.” matt just shakes his head. “yea, and im serious. can’t you just miss one class?” y/n just gives up and lays there for about 3 minutes. “okay matt, im really going to late.” “two more minutes!” matt whines.
