No, no spikes. That would kill em too fast. The quick rotation and shaking could thrash em around, bruising em and making em hurt without risking blood loss. Slowly boiling them alive would be the point. Not to mention the struggle to be able to get air.

I don't care about perfection until it's my clothes, alright? It takes a lot of work to make all these outfits I ain't gonna waste it.

They decrease the lifespan of clothes, degrade fabric, will shrink certain fabrics and outright destroy others. Even if you have one with a gentle wash cycle in some cases that is not enough. Clothes are going to last longer if you don't use a washing machine, especially fancier ones.

...I do wonder if they'd make an effective torture device though... If you made one big enough.
