apologies if these are too similar to the previous headcanons of knife with a gentle!reader :/c !!

- teasing and banter is practically the love language between you two.

- it creates a very light-hearted mood when you’re together, and knife enjoys the few times he’s able to make you flustered or embarrassed.

- although, he won’t admit it, but if you have the right knowledge, knife is a LOT easier to embarrass than you are.

- however, if he accidentally crosses any boundaries of yours or causes genuine upset, he swears he can never forgive himself.

- whatever it was that pushed the wrong buttons? he will remember and he will NEVER say it again.

- if he sees your face scrunching up or your body starting to turn away from his defensively, his guard is immediately up as he’s combing through his brain for whatever he’s just said to you that might’ve stepped over the line.

- knife isn’t really sure how to comfort you.

- he backtracks his statements in a panic, stuttering over himself in an attempt to pull you both further away from falling over the ‘oh god i messed up’ cliff.

- if it was something about YOU that he accidentally insulted/made you feel awful about, he’s stacking on compliment after compliment about his adoring, confident, inspiring partner.

- you might have to guide him through what you want from him to gain your forgiveness, since apologies and emotions have never been a strong suit of his.

- at this point, you could ask him to get on his knees and bark, and he’d probably do it (after a lot of ‘i’ll only forgive you if…).

- however, this may come off as a ‘aw, he cares about his partner so much that he’ll do anything for them out of the love in his heart!’.

- buuuut that is not entirely the case.

- knife is no stranger to pushing people away and ruining his relationships with people, and no matter the strength or length of the relationship between you two, he still holds the fear that you’ll give in to his harsh demeanour and push him away.

- he wouldn’t blame you for it, either.

- those thoughts won’t really ever go away, but hold him tight (in the privacy of you both, of course) on his bad days and gently rub his hand to shoo those thoughts away.

- knife isn’t big on pda, and at the start of your relationship is reluctant on much touching full stop.

- its mostly because he’s awkward and is unsure how to go about the feeling of butterflies in his stomach.

- doesn’t want to make your relationship obvious during the actual competition, but everyone sees the way he glances at you every few minutes to ensure your safety.

- compared to the way he interacts (or lack thereof) with other contestants, he’s basically worshipping you.

- okay not really, but he is a lot more considerate towards you while still shying away from appearing necessarily ‘romantic’ or showing any pda.

- whether your relationship was already fully developed before the competition or if you two got closer as the challenges go on, he will start to put you before himself in terms of winning the challenges.

- need to collect an item? he’s passing you the ones found before taking some for himself.

- need to jump over a cliff? he’s throwing you himself.

- need to jump DOWN a cliff? he’s grabbing you and jumping down with you.

- in your own private time while staying at the hotel, if you don’t share a room he’s constantly sneaking over to yours (while trying not to be seen by other contestants, he think’s they’ll make fun of him for being clingy).

- if you sleep together? remember to leave room for his dora doll !!

- just try not to roll over and set off it’s speech feature in the middle of the night (you’d rather not be woken up in the darkness to a child’s voice saying ‘hola! soy dora!’).

- whenever you both have free time (which is pretty often, considering none of you have jobs to attend to inbetween challenges/eliminations) he drags you over to the couch and hands you a controller to play whatever video game is decided that day!!

- knife prefers fighting games to verse you in, but sometimes he’ll give in and play a more peaceful game if that’s what you prefer.

- (you have an animal crossing island together, you’re making it look cute while he’s bashing in the villagers’ heads with his net).

- dates between you two are relatively chill, since he doesn’t care for going out to fancy restaurants unless you explicitly state that you want to go out to one for dinner.

- knife will entertain your date ideas, but will get drained pretty quickly if it’s something out of his usual style.

- if anything, he’s happy to stay home, or just go for a walk around town together.

- definitely an actions-over-words type of guy.

- he’s not the best with emotions, his or yours, but knife would stab someone fly to the moon if you asked him to <3

- one is such a lesbian im sorry omg

- since we still don't know a whole lot about her from before her recent cameos with her obsession towards two's powers, i'm about to make a whole lot of assumptions !! lol

- if you are an algebralien, your relationship is going to be a lot different compared to you being an object.

- in the past, you were definitely one of the very few people that she felt she could truly confide in.

- this leads to her being... not exactly 'clingy', but given that you're really the only person willing to interact with her, she doesn't have anyone else to hang out.

- she's incredibly good at going unnoticed and being sneaky, so she makes it a game to scare you by popping up behind you when she's bored.

- she finds it funny, while you just send her a half-hearted glare, "oh, chill out! your face is just too funny when you're scared!"

- (but if you genuinely express your dislike towards it, she'll feel a bit guilty and will stop doing it - the last thing she wants is to lose you.)

- there was a time when she scared you and you reflexively went to punch her, she was able to stop your movements with her powers before you actually landed a hit on her thou :>

- while you apologized, she brushed it off and was moreso surprised that you had it in you to make such a move.

- her love language is definitely acts of service.

- if you have anything to do, she will happily join you in completing it! even something as mundane as household chores or shopping, she'll be right by your side with a broom to clean, or holding your bags while you walk.

- she also really appreciates you doing the same for her,,

- given that the other algebraliens don't exactly like her, she's gotten used to having to do everything for herself without the slightest help from anyone else.

- so, seeing you offer to do literally ANYTHING for her without anything in return? her heart is bursting from her chest while trying to act nonchalant.

- no matter how close you two get, though, she'll always have an uncomfortable pit in her stomach that you'll leave her, that you'll realize the reasons that everyone else hates her, and that she'll be left alone again.

- to compensate, she'll lowkey spoil you and do anything to make you happy.

- she gets so nervous when you're upset, especially if its towards her, but she doesn't know how to work these problems through with you, so she tends to act like she doesn't care as a way to protect her own feelings.

- this can cause bigger problems between the two of you, since you need to be the person to confront the difficult areas of your relationship and force her to talk about it, despite her reluctance.

- however, if the tension goes on between you both for too long without you making any moves to mend it, one will take matters into her own hands (or, uh, her lack thereof).

- except she doesn't really know how/where to start, all she knows is that she hates the lack of YOU in her life since the tension took place, and that she needed to do something about it lest she go insane.

- she might try acting like nothing happened between you two... but when that doesn't work out, she'll try winning you over with items and material promises.

- of course, none of this actually involves sorting out any problems, and she's eventually pushed to apologizing directly to you and offering to work out a solution (after a very long time of putting off this confrontation).

- okok but!! if you're an object and you meet through the power of two!

- it's very different, she won't necessarily care for you at first - you're just another stepping stone to get to her main goal, after all.

- but whether she gains interest in you from observing you during challenges or from a direct interaction while attempting to get you to accept a deal with her,,

- one feels very conflicted.

- at first, she tries pushing them down (her feelings) and pretending that they don't exist, they'll only get in the way of what's important!

- until she can't, unable to ignore the surges of jealousy she feels when watching you interact with other objects, and dampening her mood when it isn't her down there, working through each challenge with you.

- it's enough to distract her from everything else, and one decides that acting on her feelings is necessary.

- at some point between you meeting her and developing feelings for her, you find yourself whisked away to her little domain when the competition is on break.

- since she can't really spend time near the hotel due to risking a confrontation with other objects, you find that her room becomes a second home to you.

- whether you're having a chat over a cup of tea, or simply doing your own things while enjoying the silence of each others company, one finds herself craving your companionship more than anyone else's before.

- however, no matter how deep your bond grows, she can't find herself trusting you with her plans.

- this could easily be a main source of conflict between the two of you, unless you're incredibly oblivious to her actions, but she will end the relationship between you both before revealing anything to you.

- if anything, it's out of fear of you hating her once you discover her intentions. and she can't bare the thought of you breaking everything off with her, so she would beat you to it to save her own feelings.

- BUT in a world where that isn't an issue, where everything is all sunshine and rainbows,,

- she wouldn't go outside on dates with you very often, preferring a quieter, more private, peaceful, and intimate setting with you.

- one acts like she'd rather not partake in any sort of cuddling, but sometimes the feeling of being held by you heals something deep inside her that she doesn't want to think about.

- she gets jealous easily, though, and will go out of her way to stand as near as possible to you when in public.

- if she had hands, she would totally keep one around your midsection (she may even use her magic in place of that).

- but she doesn't like being physically far from you, wanting to keep an eye on you at all times to the point where it may come across as stalker-ish or possessive.

- she doesn't really control you or your relationship with others, however, unless she holds a strong dislike towards a friend of yours.

- its moreso a trust-thing for her, there's usually a reason for her negative feelings towards a person, and she doesn't want to see you get hurt by them.

- i wouldn't sort her as a 'yandere' by any means, but she isn't afraid to go behind your back to threaten a few people if she notices any ill-intentions being held towards you.

- those objects that were constantly making fun of a fear of yours? huh, looks like YOU'RE a fear of theirs now! one says that she has no clue what happened. ..

- overall, she's a bit protective of you, and incredibly stubborn, but believes that you might be the best thing that has ever happened to her.

- she would make a deal with god himself if it meant keeping you safe.

Panic had taken hold of everyone’s hearts the moment that OJ had acted concerningly out-of-character – however, that moment felt like nothing compared to the utter helplessness that had taken hold of the hotel the moment that Toilet no longer appeared to be in-control of MePhoneX.

You were standing next to the troubled host. Mephone4 couldn’t understand it, it was a known fact that every other object had developed a strong disliking towards him… Yet, you hadn’t shown a single shred of negativity towards him

Rather, the moment that contestants started dropping like flies at the hands of Cobbs (and partly Toilet, but he couldn’t blame the poor guy for being misled), you had clung to him for a sense of safety. You knew that he couldn’t stop this, he couldn’t even recover anyone.

After a couple seconds too long spent frozen in shock at the inanimate objects falling to the floor, MePhone4 felt his body moving without a single thought. His arms wrapped around your body, vaguely recognising the vibrating fear that shook your body, and hauled you both upstairs.

He didn’t understand his actions – by keeping you close, Mephone4 was putting himself in significantly more danger. Perhaps it was the comfort he felt with you, or the obligation he felt to keep you safe.

Suddenly, you found yourselves inside a closet. Cleaning supplies were neatly pushed back up on the shelves, with a broom and a mop leaning against the far wall. With the click of a door, you were encased in darkness.

The two of you sat in silence, completely still except for the occasional unconscious twitch of a muscle. Your ragged breathing and soft sniffles slowly registering to Mephone4, his hearing starting to adjust to the extreme change in sound.

It clicked in his mind that the dark atmosphere around you both wouldn’t help, and reached upwards with a shaky hand to pull down the lightswitch. Immediately, your shrunken pupils met his, a concerned expression tugging your face.

“Are you alright?” You whispered, your words inaudible if not for the extreme silence and proximity between you.

Mephone4’s brow furrowed, mouth slightly gaping, “I- I’m fine? It’s-It’s you that I’m worried about!”

Despite it being the worst day of your combined lives, you gave him a soft smile, “Mephone, we’re both okay. But… Cobbs, he –“

“I don’t want to talk about him. Please.”

“…Okay. You have to talk about it at some point, though.”

“I know.” Mephone4 muttered back.

That was one of his favourite qualities about you. No one else held such a patience with him as you did, even through the number of times he’d let people down.

You were quick to pick up his downfallen expression, “Would you like a hug?”

Mephone4 knew that he didn’t deserve it. That he didn’t deserve you, so he averted his eyes and sighed. Without an answer, you reached over and embrace him anyways.

Your arms wrapped awkwardly around his flat, rectangular surface, but he melted into you almost immediately – so you didn’t mind. After a few moments of hesitation, you felt his hands reach around you, before his arms pulled you closer.

He could barely hold back the tears in his eyes, desperately squeezing them shut to keep them in. You had just witnessed your friends being turned inanimate; being killed. And you were the one comforting him.

Minutes were spent in that position, trying to pretend that the horror around them didn’t exist. Mephone4 didn’t want to let go, too focused on ignoring his thoughts by directing his attention to your body against his that he hadn’t realised that your arms were no longer around him.

Mephone4 sniffled, whispering your name before leaning backwards, “Sorry, did I –“

His voice caught in his throat, and his eyes flitted over the crudely familiar text written over your body. He softly placed you on the floor in horror, careful to ensure your body didn’t roll away without limbs to keep it in place.

You had to have heard the alarm, right? You knew that MePhoneX was coming, yet you just… Kept comforting him?

MePhone4 stared at your remains, unable to keep the waterworks in as he audibly sobbed. His hands aggressively rubbed at his screen, feeling the helpless frustration rising within him.

This was all a mistake, and he knew it was his fault. You became the only friend he had, and he was selfish enough to lose you – leaving you to hold his pathetic self as you knew you were going to die. He did the only thing he could; gasping in turmoil as he sat in the closet with your lone body, awaiting his fate at Cobbs’ hands.

look, i didn’t care much for knife in the romantic sense, but omfg i had so many thoughts for this

- he’s always lowkey concerned about your wellbeing – keeping an eye on you to make sure no one takes advantage of you.

- doesn’t want anyone to use you for themselves, especially since there might be times that your sweetness turns you into a target.

- he doesn’t understand how you can be so… relentlessly kind? it almost frustrates him.

- before you’ve developed any sort of relationship, he doesn’t exactly spare you from his ‘jerk’ persona.

- knife feels the need to… force you to break past that sweet, gentle exterior – he wants to prove that theres a side to you that isn’t all butterflies and rainbows.

- (he would never admit it to himself, but he wanted to make sure you could stand up for yourself, even if it was against him.)

- however, when the only reaction he gets is concern and a kindness that makes him stop in his tracks, knife starts to… regret his choices.

- while in the competition, he tries to keep a distance between you and him, in fear that you’d distract him from focusing on winning.

- everyone else definitely notices that, while he isn’t exactly kind to you, he’s a lot less mean to you compared to his interactions with literally everyone else.

- if someone tries to start a fight with you, or outright insults you, knife will immediately step in without realising what he’s doing.

- when you approach him like, “thank you for standing up for me! :)”, he starts getting all defensive.

- “i didn’t like that guy anyway, i was just looking for a reason to fight him…”

- okay, sureee lovebird

- unfortunately, i don’t see him making any moves or accepting any moves from you until season two.

- when he starts loosening up a bit, and realises that it’s not a bad thing to develop relationships with others he… looks back on the feelings that he had for you.

- not that those feelings ever went away, knife just pushed them down and pretended they didn’t exist.

- it starts off very small, he’ll actually initiate friendly conversation with you (albeit very poorly).

- “so… the weather’s looking nice today…”

- you’ll have to guide most of these conversations, lest you both end up in an awkward silence.

- he gets better at it, though!! starts learning what you two have in common, your interests, and beliefs.

- knife doesn’t realise it, but he immediately picks up all the small reactions you have.

- like, he’ll bring up that he knows your favourite food, and you stand there like, “i never told you that?? how did you know?”

- and its all because he saw how you lit up when mephone used it as the prize for being safe one time.

- eventually, he garners up the courage to admit that he loves you – although, he doesn’t tell you out of fear that someone as kind and gentle as you would never love someone as harsh and rugged as him.

- knife’s love language is totally acts of service, so he unconsciously does all sorts of tasks to support you, in both the competition and just casually.

- for example, if you’re on the same team, he prioritises getting you to safety first.

- if you’re on a different team, he’ll totally let you in on his teams plan if its a good one and your team is doing badly.

- OR or, he’ll pass by you in the hotel, and he’s like “oh, hey. i happened to pick up your favourite sweet treat at the shops earlier, you can have it.”

- acting like it was a coincidence. we KNOW he saw that in the shops, immediately thought of you, and HAD to buy it. probably fist fought someone for the last one.

- it takes a while, but when he finally asks you out, he’s all flustered and nervous, he got flowers for you even if you aren’t big on flowers because he followed a wikihow article on how to ask someone out. hes clueless

- knife is honestly so happily surprised that you say yes, he totally thought you’d reject him and that he’d never be able to talk to you again.

- a relationship with knife goes VERY slowly. he’s not experienced when it comes to these sorts of relationships, and every step he takes is done so with major hesitation.

- honestly, no one knew that he had finally asked you out until you coerced him into a kiss once in public. literally every object did that wojak face where they pointed at you two like :0 !!!

- at first, he’s very unsure about PDA. knife is still working past that whole, “showing that you care is showing weakness!!”

- one time though, another object was getting a little TOO close to you for comfort, he wasn’t even thinking and he just wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you closer to him.

- after getting a taste of that, he was ALL over it.

- constantly standing as close as possible to you, making sure that everyone knows that you’re off-limits.

- especially since you’re so sweet and relentlessly kind to everyone, its easy to gravitate towards you.

- but knife is there, beating them off with a stick because NO! you CAN’T fall in love with them, because HE’S in love with them!

- due to everyone being on good terms with you, finding it impossible to NOT want to be friends with someone so kindhearted, knife does get a bit insecure.

- in his mind, you could have literally anyone as your partner, since you’re so likeable.

- and him? no one genuinely likes him for him, he’s a jerk! he’s always pushed people away, there’s a reason he doesn’t have many friendships.

- knife hides this pretty well though, once you get closer with him you learn to pick up these signs pretty well.

- just let him know that you wouldn’t trade him for anyone, and that theres a reason that you’re dating HIM, not anyone else.

- more on the displays of affection, he isn’t THAT big on cuddling.

- i mean, knife likes wrapping an arm around you, or having you nearby.

- but he’s not much for cuddling on the couch, wrapped up in each others arms.

- however, if you initiate it, he will act as a big spoon and hold you in his arms.

- he enjoys watching television, or playing a video game, with you sitting on him/in front of him and resting his chin on your shoulder.

- he loves spending time with you in general!! you two could just be in one of your hotel rooms, silently doing your own things, and it just makes him so happy to be around you.

- other objects definitely think that knife has gotten softer by being around you hehe

- your kindness just brushes off on him, he’ll find himself picking up items for people if they drop them on the floor, or complimenting someones skills in the game they’re playing.

- don’t bring it up though, he’ll get embarrassed and defensive.

- he’s not the type to really go all out on dates with you (unless its a special occasion), hes just not a fancy guy.

- its a guilty pleasure of his, though, to go on really cutesy dates just to see how happy it makes you.

- knife will suggest AND take you to a flower field for a picnic, making flower crowns with you, but if another object walks by and is like, “knife??”, he gets so defensive.

- immediately puts the blame on you, “it was their idea, i only came along because it makes them happy…”

- just giggle and let him say that, he’ll feel better about himself.

- another thing he really loves about you is how respectful you are.

- you don’t judge him for anything.

- one time, he accidentally poked a hole in his dora doll. he was really upset despite trying to hide it.

- you immediately stitched it up for him, and he fell so much harder for you. despite having such a childish comfort, you took it upon yourself to support it and him, without making any comments on it.

- you make him so flustered sometimes, a feat almost impossible from anyone else.

- your kindness knows no bounds, and you’ll catch him dead before anyone tries taking any advantage of you.
