Just something I wanted to point out, we are not seeing Keyleth in her day-to-day. We are seeing her at her most emotional, most stressed out, most overwhelmed.

I truly believe that having a clear end time for Vax's service to the RQ would be incredibly healing. I think that VM is worried about leaving him stuck for eternity, but if he was allowed to rest once Vex permanently passed away, they would be more willing to accept that.

(But who knows 🤷‍♀️)

marisha always falls into this State when vax returns to them – as a revenant, in dalen's closet, in c3e114 – and it hurts so bad. while vex is warm, smiling, hugging him, immediately ready to jump back into spending time with her brother, even if she knows it might not last – keyleth is Terrified (or, as she gets older, Resigned). distant and cautious and hesitant, she needs coaxing and reassurances from people who are real, realer than the man standing in front of her looking at her like that. and she is always watching and waiting for the other shoe to drop. thinking of keyleth paralyzed by a fear of loss for the whole first half of c1 before taking the risk with vax, and vax at the end of everything saying "i know i've confirmed your worst fears." thinking of how every time he is delivered to her it's the same fucking dance. we can be together, until. we can hold hands, until. we can be happy, until. thinking of how many times she can bring herself to do it before she can't anymore

Vaxleth Fanfic Writers, let me try to pitch you this story.

Raven Queen dies, Keyleth uses her Druid powers to bring Vax back. She succeeds, but because of the cosmic/celestial void left by the RQ's absence and Keyleth reaching through the afterlife, the forces of Death (or whatever) take Keyleth away to now serve as the Matron of Ravens.

I think my wish for the canon narrative is that Vax serves the Raven Queen (as he has been doing) and is released from service/able to just go with the other dead souls of Exandria when either Vex or Keyleth dies.

The only way that I can currently see Vax satisfactorily becoming part of the living again is if the Raven Queen dies and Keyleth uses her power as a Druid to bring Vax back.

(Edit: In fanfic though...🗣Bring my bird boy back. I literally don't give af how)

I'm 100% okay with people having a different perspective, but I don't think Keyleth craves a romantic relationship. Companionship, maybe, but she wasn't thinking about romance until Vax, and I don't think she necessarily "wants" that type of relationship with anyone else.

Her moving on from Vax does not mean that she has to be romantically involved with another. If she does, whatever, but it's not required.
