we’re alive...kind of

Hiyo awesome poet peoples!

quick story time, i promise i’ll keep it short. we disappeared! and then we were kind of back! and then we disappeared again. 2015 was the worst year of my life and everything just fell apart, this revolution included, and I’m so very sorry for having dropped the ball. i’m getting better. we all are. 

that being said, change is coming. not sure what or when, but we are alive and kicking and we’re gonna reboot this revolution and it’s gonna be radtastic. alright that’s it for now.

Hey I have two questions about the upcoming slam:1) Can I send in a poem even though I don't feel comfortable making a video of myself saying it, or is this strictly for spoken poetry. and 2) Does my poem have to be "deep" to apply? Because I have a poem that's a little silly but works under the guidelines. Thanks!

Heya! Thanks for your question, we'll try to answer it as best as we can!

1) You can always submit a poem to our tumblr to have it posted here and shared with our followers. As for the slam submissions, in the past we have had submissions of just the audio recording. A lot of people aren't comfortable being in front of a camera or having their face exposed but still want to be heard, so audio recordings are a great way for them to participate. The team is working on ways how to make those submissions equally as interesting on the eyes as the ones that have performances. 

2) Your poem does not have to be "deep" to apply! Poetry doesn't have to be anything except for what you want it to be. Silly poetry is good for the heart. The other day, I wrote a poem about harry potter mythical creatures and Loony Lovegood. 

We are looking forward to hearing what you come up with!

A Hot Breath

And in this summer I hath a broiling thought where I sat to ponder, ever trying to forget yet not wanting to. Moving  forward into the future I want it stop but I cannot speak, tears in my eyes no voice comes out confided in myself  thoughts echo in my head until confusion brings me physically to my knees,  love I am at your mercy. Where will you push me, happen chance has decided half my life and my quiet lips the other. I saw a moment in  which to speak but words met your ears and echo'd in your head no voice came out and again I fell to my knees,  love I am still at your mercy. Having in me these words I know they do not fall upon deaf ears. But for when my faltered heart yet makes me yearn  forwards my heads moves me back farther than I was. I never had what there was to lose yet the thought of having  my heart in your hands left me breathless, I would have held my breath to feel your heart beating,  love I have always been at your mercy.  I know there is love in death for I have held my breath all my life and in you I saw which I would give it up for.  Seeing you I wanted to give you all of my breath reminding me to breathe again, for you I exhaled until there was  nothing more, my lips move but there are no more words for all which I had to give is now with you, love I will always be at your mercy.

Second off, HAPPY 2015! With a new year comes a resolution and a goal to host at least 6 slams this year. So we’ll do one slam every two months. Maybe more in the summer, but that’s still to be discussed. 

Third off, NEW SLAM! 

WE ARE NOW TAKING SUBMISSIONS FOR OUR WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE POETRY SLAM. The topic? Well what would you change? About..the world? About yourself? Dig deep. Submissions can be sent to our email, nerdfighterpoets@gmail.com until February 14th, 2015 and will be uploaded to our YouTube channel. Voting begins the day after. 

Hopefully, we’ll be more active on all of our social media accounts so follow us on Twitter, “like” our Facebook page here, and message us any time with any questions!
