I think they are delaying the magic reveal because they know that once Arthur finds out Merlin has magic he’s going to call Merlin to do everything with magic like “Oh Merlin, this window is broken, fix it” or “Oh Merlin I dropped my fork, can you pick it up for me… I know you’re across the room, can’t you pick it up for me with magic? I’m to lazy to bend” or “Merlin! can you put the toilet seat up for me. I don’t want to touch the toilet seat, but you have magic so you can do it. This is so much fun Merlin, I don’t know why you didn’t tell me about it before”
