Y'know, I've heard of gamer girls, but I've never heard of a "gamer guy." I wonder why not. Maybe it's because guys don't play videogames as much as girls do. I mean basically all girls are gamers.

Adam Sandler: So here's my pitch. There's this guy, average guy, kind of a loser, stays upbeat, his only real flaw is that he's a child at heart and doesn't hide it
Me: Ok Adam. This is fresh as fuck every time
Adam: And one day, he meets this beautiful blonde, and she doesn't really respect him. But he KNOWS there's a connection, and there must be something wrong that she doesn't see it
Me: Adam you're blowing my fucking mind this is untouched territory for you
Adam: So the guy crosses a few lines, yaknow? He steps over the line a little bit but it's for love, right? So it's cool. He solves the problem with social heroics, stays persistent and even though things get rough he wins her heart
Me: Yesssss this is literal gold Adam this is ingots
Adam: And I'm thinking, like, who we can get to play the guy?
Me: I think we both know just the guy
Adam: You don't think it's weird that the awkward everyman hero with a heart of gold is me again?
Me: Adam. Hand on heart bro. I couldn't care less
Adam: I'm so glad. You're my rock
Me: Can I borrow another $10,000

reading this (the part about the lion's share of musicians) makes me think of how the career of every artist is destined to go down like this:
tenured artist checklist:
1) make work emphasizing how times have changed and how jaded you are by having to go through the process of reinventing yourself all over again
2) get invited to interviews to be humiliated by hosts and their audiences
3) make pastiches of your early work to pander to nostalgia
4) have a come-to-jesus moment once there is no more money and clout to be gained from making art
5) return to working service jobs in your late 40's-50's and occasionally host talks and retrospectives to make ends meet
6) serve as a mirror for young artists to remind them that we are all in a life-long wait for death's parole
7) once you have died from health complications, have media conglomerates streamline your work to make commercial knockoffs and have industry plants reference your work to build unearned prestige
Thoughts on your Holden Bloodfeast panel taking on a life of its own these days?
Few things more demoralizing to an artist than seeing their early work repeatedly overshadow their current stuff (see: the lion's share of musicians whose best albums are undoubtedly their first two, but who nonetheless bravely continue to plod along, in mediocrity, through albums, 9, 10, 11. Do they know?) Wouldn't mind I guess if it benefited me in basically any way, but I'm still jobless cashless and more-or-less washed, and nobody even knows or cares that I made the damn thing. Where's my Topataco plush landfill-filler?
The drawing itself is still fun to look at, I guess. MS Paint outsider art in a Dilbert 3 kind of way

The idea that people pay others to take their phones and go on runs to fake running metrics is insane. Who woulda thought running would become a signifier for social status in this age.
