A/N: First of all, sorry for the feels. If it helps I upset myself writing this. Things get a little tense and angsty for a minute. Please let me know what you think though as it’s a bit different from other stories I’ve posted.

It was on every single news outlet you saw. As much as you didn’t want to believe it, the evidence was there in front of you. Your boyfriend, Jinyoung, getting a little too close for comfort with one of his female ex co-stars.

You sat scrolling through all the news stories on your phone, waiting for Jinyoung to get home with some sort of explanation.

“Hey, jagi,” he called as he entered.

The sound of the pet name made your chest clench painfully.

He walked into the living room looking exhausted. If not for the photo still on your phone screen, you might have felt bad for him.

“Jagi?” you scoffed. “Really?”

“Oh no,” he muttered as he collapsed in an armchair.

Miya Atsumu was unapproachable. 

He was cold, for lack of better word. Scaring people away with his fierce glares was routine, especially towards his teammates who couldn’t keep up with his skill. Needless to say, this brought him down greatly in the eyes of others.

Come junior high and by now, Atsumu was all alone. Osamu would stick by his side occasionally, but he had found some new friends to talk to, and eventually, Atsumu could feel his own brother slip away.

So here he was, sitting under the snow-covered tree on a wet bench. There was nowhere else to sit and he left his lunch at home. He refused to show his emotions, but deep down, Atsumu knew for a fact that he was lonely. He hated this feeling. He loathed that he wanted to eat with the same people he got annoyed at during lunch. 

He fumbled around with his bag and before he knew it, his onigiri fell to the snow, and suddenly, Atsumu could feel tears well up in his eyes. It wasn’t like him to cry over something as trivial as this. It was just a pitiful snack Osamu gave him earlier that morning. But the tears that dropped onto the ground weren’t just ones of frustration. They were filled with loneliness.

Cupping his head in his hands, Atsumu felt humiliated to be crying, especially in such a close area to the school. Anyone could see him and seeing at how everyone despised Atsumu and his cockiness, they would probably torment him until university about him crying. 

“Excuse me, I think you dropped this,” a cheery voice broke the tense atmosphere.

Atsumu had a habit of doing things in twos, and if not twos, then at least a number divisible by two. He typically fell back onto a combination of six-four-two, something about those numbers helping ease his mind when everything around him felt like it was getting too much. 

He took six steps to do a jump serve. He took four to do a float serve. He took two to set up a perfect toss.

Sometimes, he found himself reversing the combination, typically when dealing with more mundane things. 

He took two hours to look at his phone. He spent four trying to distract himself. He responded after six.
