#tbt And we're going deep here, people. This is an old sketch of a sort of Sacred Heart of Jesus I drew while on a retreat with the youth ministry of my parish back in the fall of 2014. I was one of the adult leaders yet that ministry helped me to develop a deeper faith. 2014 was a big year in my faith journey. This was drawn during a reflective, quiet time (though I'm sure the music minister was playing something) right after confession in which the priest told me he was impressed that I could fit so much on an approximately 1" square piece of paper. Haha! All that aside, I had been in a rut art-wise as I had been pretty depressed and discouraged upon graduation. I decided to combine my newly rejuvenated faith with some of the emo-esk doodles of my high school years to just get something out. With a combination of a freshly scraped clean soul from the Sacrament of Reconciliation and meditative worship music, this drawing was very soothing, calming, and comforting.
