there comes a time when you’ll have to stop basing your morals on the laws of society because not all of these laws are meant to protect the vulnerable people but to exploit

I have so much love and respect for women who are honest about their own loneliness but also find the good in it like when audrey hepburn said “I have to be alone very often. I’d be quite happy if I spent from Saturday night until Monday morning alone in my apartment. That’s how I refuel” and when charlotte bronte said “I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself” and when jenny slate said “I think I’ve come to terms with the fact that there will always be a ribbon of loneliness running through who I am. But that’s why I want to do comedy, and why I want to connect with people. You can use that ribbon to be a part of a finer tapestry, or you can choke yourself out with it! Your choice!” and when mary oliver said “whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh & exciting - over & over announcing your place in the family of things”

When you raise children to believe that they are not meant to be heard, for many of them that trickles into every other part of their life. If the child was lucky enough to have an innate, unwavering sense of self-worth from birth they might be okay. But considering most children get their confidence and self-worth from how they’re raised, you unknowingly doom your child. You teach them that their voice doesn’t matter and they’re inherently wrong at all times. You open them up to abusers because abusers are so good at picking people who struggle to realize when they’re being devalued. You open them to feeling immense shame for so much that is not their fault. This is so important to understand especially when you are raising children of color. These kids are going to be subject to so much that they don’t deserve, and if you treat them poorly at home, they’re going to expect poor treatment outside of the house. Telling children they have no voice tells them they are not worth having a voice and when you believe you’re worthless, all ideas of you achieving success start to disappear. Stop breaking the spirit of children before they even have a chance to make decisions for theirselves.

The most relatable moment from spongebob for me is when he went over to Sandy’s house for the first time and was too polite and socially nervous to tell her he was slowly dying

We need a reverse movie trilogy, where it starts off in a dystopian future, and each sequal slowly shows us how society got to that point. Ending with a movie where society is just like ours.
