Campervan hire Christchurch NZ
Often other travellers or residents of New Zealand claim that Christchurch is a desolate city that had nothing to offer after the earthquake. In fact, it is larger but much less touristy than Queenstown, and its architecture makes it probably one of the most “English” cities in the country. The traces of the 2011 earthquake are still clearly visible today. These include places listed as Christchurch Cathedral and parts of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. These have not been built or renovated to date - you can still take a look at them. Overall, the city exudes a sometimes almost macabre charm that you can hardly escape.
Since the city centre was particularly affected by the earthquake, the Re:START shopping area invites you to an exciting walk and a nice party. It is a constantly growing project, in which several fashion, literature and home accessories shops as well as restaurants and bars have been arranged in colourful containers. In the old university district you will not only find a wide range of cultural activities, but also the recently opened Art Gallery with old European paintings and fascinating exhibitions and installations by New Zealand artists. The restored tram, whose history dates back to 1880, runs through the city centre. In one section there are small cafes and bars lovingly arranged with a wide range of gastronomic offerings. Just like in Auckland, the botanical gardens are worth a stroll. There is also a large Farmer’s Market, where not only local farmers offer their produce. Such markets are actually always recommended if you have time, because there you can buy not only the famous Manuka honey in all its varieties, but also fresh fruit and vegetables, which are often cheaper here than in fairly expensive supermarkets.

new zealand north and south island travel report
Tumblr media
My absolute recommendations for hikes include the Tongariro Crossing and a trip on the Whanganui River on the North Island. On the South Island you should kayak in the Abel Tasman National Park and walk the Kepler Track. It's more of a word for exchanging food and lodging for your labour. A gift from heaven for campers in New Zealand are the public toilets. Unlike in Germany, you don't have to search for hours for a clean, free toilet.
Experience reports from campervan renters
However, the north of the North Island remains frost-free even in winter. As a typical backpacker country, you will always meet young people with Working Holiday Visas who spend a whole year there. But also "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" fans languish from one film set to the next. The sockets in the camper only work when you are connected to the electricity. I think it's a mistake to give the North Island a maximum of 10 days. Certainly it is scenically different from the southern half, but the many magnificent squares and streets are well worth staying for a night or two. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, my husband suggested during chemotherapy that we make our dream trip after treatment. The illness had made us both aware of how valuable health and this life are.
Tumblr media
Kaiteriteri is the starting point for visiting the Abel Tasman National Park. We stayed overnight on a (unauthorized) parking lot in a beautiful bay. But we were not aware of this. From this bay the boats go into the national park. Read more about campervan hire New Zealand here. The next morning we went on the ferry with hiking boots and daypack.

Both are proven platforms for finding accommodation worldwide. Also the biggest swing in the world can be found here.

Camper New Zealand and motorhome New Zealand hire online
Tumblr media
Every year in February you can visit Napier on the third weekend Visit the Art Deco Festival and experience a colorful street festival with music and costumes. The Buskers Festival is held in Christchurch for ten days in January. Jugglers from all over the world gather there and you can experience a free street theater. We still think compassionately of the campers at Aoraki / Mt Cook, who had to endure a whole night in the drafty shelter during storms and rain, because they couldn't even pitch their tents in the bad weather. A campervan offers families in New Zealand a lot of independence and the opportunity to really penetrate loneliness for a few days and live there independently - relatively comfortably with a roof over one's head, electricity and a toilet. Ultimately, the comfort factor in a motorhome is not necessarily the highest. Especially when the weather is bad, you sit properly in a cheap, ergo-tight campervan. It is not uncommon to see families who have so little space in their motorhome that the bulky pram has to be outside at night. Autumn Even in autumn, from around March to May, there are not many tourists on the island. Campervan camping park Although summer is over, it can be until mid-April still get warm up to 23 ° C. The city has been devastated by earthquakes in recent years, but is recovering very well and is facing destruction with creativity and joie de vivre. Auckland is located on a isthmus, near the upper edge of the North Island and is the largest city in the country. With its multicultural population, its growing art scene and the growing culinary offer, the endlessly long beach landscapes and the wealth of history, it is an exciting and fascinating place to start your holiday with your motorhome. Auckland is also New Zealand's primary international hub. In New Zealand there is a campsite in almost every place. Of course you can also read my testimonials about my own motorhome tours in New Zealand. Travel outside the high season. There are not so many tourists, the islands are very pleasant to travel. It is nice and warm everywhere, you can go swimming and enjoy the time outdoors. Inquire about your motorhome or book available vehicles cheaply and directly. Britz has a large selection of standard motorhomes and campervans at a good price. A few of the most beautiful places can be found here. The crystal clear large Lake Taupo; the hot springs and bubbling mud holes, as well as meter-high geysers near Rotorua; the northernmost point of New Zealand, Cape Reinga, and at the same time the most important religious place of the Maori. Christchurch is located east of the South Island of New Zealand and is a good starting point for visiting various national parks. New Zealand is divided into a north and a south island, which can also be wonderfully visited separately. Visitors rave about the towering mountains, the farmland, enchanting fjords and beautiful beaches, which are also ideal for surfing. But this nation in the South Pacific offers more than just a spectacular backdrop. The roads and the infrastructure are very well maintained, the residents are friendly and the country has a fascinating flora and fauna.
Often a whole "family clan" who is traveling with several or very large campers.
And I can definitely confirm that.
Then you won't become one Got a problem.
Then Christchurch has several interesting museums to offer.
What we noticed, 90% of the garbage does not come from tourists. It is the locals who use their own land as a dump.
New Zealand Camper - Where can I park my RV in New Zealand?
Tumblr media
Look for the “No Camping” signs or stop at a DOC Information Center and ask. In New Zealand you are allowed to max. Drive 50 km / h and 100 km / h on motorways and country roads. You must not turn left at a red traffic light. You also have to stop when the traffic light is yellow. Although the cost of two campers will be higher. However, they will certainly not double, since the basic price for smaller vehicles is lower and gasoline consumption is also lower. The advantage of more privacy outweighs the relatively low additional costs in any case. We have Campervan camping park put together a selection of route suggestions so that you can explore New Zealand ideally by camper, 4 × 4, Womo, caravan, motorhome, camper or rental car. Simply enter the desired departure date and you will receive the vehicle selection for the selected travel route.
Tumblr media
Many of New Zealand's most beautiful country roads lead through nature. Therefore, pay more attention to wild animals crossing the road.

Motorhome rental New Zealand
KIWI RV New Zealand accepts VISA and MasterCard. From there you can continue your New Zealand vacation in the overwhelming south with the motorhome. You can find a detailed description of the routes in our article "Discovering the most beautiful routes in New Zealand by motorhome". Depending on the time of year you spend your motorhome vacation in New Zealand, you can also experience different festivals in New Zealand. After arriving in New Zealand, we recommend that you stay at least one night before picking up your motorhome. With the motorhome it is easy for you to visit some or even all of these fantastic places.
What is the weather like in New Zealand in January?
New Zealand Currencies
Find your suitable vehicle model and simply book your motorhome holiday online. Some camper vans in New Zealand are only designed for 2 people, other motorhomes are approved for 4 people, but you cannot integrate child seats. Driving in a New Zealand 4-person motorhome, which is designed for 6 people, is much more relaxed because there is simply more storage space. Due to the abundance of campsites and holiday parks, a trip with a motorhome in New Zealand can not be better than relaxing for a week in one of these coveted holiday destinations.

Motorhomes without a corresponding certificate are not allowed to spend the night at many well-located campsites. The Kiwi 2-3 bed motorhome is perfect for a pleasant and cozy trip through New Zealand for two, but also offers enough space for a family with Child.
Travel New Zealand with your motorhome, you should definitely plan several weeks for the trip, because the country has countless attractions to offer.
Would you like to rent your motorhome in Auckland?
Book your motorhome - from small to large, with or without all-wheel drive, numerous equipment options and various miles packages to suit your taste.
It is therefore advisable to rent a motorhome that is not too big.

Book a motorhome online and experience the multifaceted New Zealand
Of course, you can also read my testimonials about my own motorhome tours in New Zealand. The nice thing is that there are numerous cheap or free overnight accommodations for (selfcontained) motorhomes in New Zealand. Christchurch is the main port of call to pick up a motorhome for an adventure on the South Island. Travel around New Zealand in a motorhome, note that there is left-hand traffic. At the end of your trip through New Zealand, hand over your motorhome fully fueled and swept clean. A deposit is always required for RVs and campers in New Zealand. The additional costs remain low due to the self-catering, and everywhere you will meet nice and open-minded people like many other motorhome travelers in front of you. In New Zealand there are campervans (which you can rent with or without a toilet) and motorhomes that always have a shower and toilet on board. Here a camper makes it easy to explore the area on your own and stop at one of the many campsites. Here is a selection of the motorhomes available in New Zealand. Here you basically have to think about whether you want to cook yourself regularly and need a well-equipped kitchen with a fridge and stove inside the motorhome, or new zealand motorhome whether a small hotplate is sufficient to cook on the outside. We therefore do not recommend renting a motorhome directly. It is best to rest a little during the first few days and then start your journey with the motorhome. The motorhome for rent that sets new standards. A large kitchenette with stove, refrigerator and sink as well as many storage options make traveling and living in the mobile home pleasant. The basic rule is that a motorhome should not have the maximum number of people allowed. Two friends who are friends are well advised to choose two smaller vehicles over a large shared motorhome. The cost of two campers will be higher. Unfortunately, many New Zealand enthusiasts always have the experience of being left empty-handed for short-term inquiries for a New Zealand motorhome. Campers in New Zealand are booked well in advance and neither a motorhome nor a campervan are available at short notice in the summer months. In summer, however, it is winter in New Zealand and it can get quite cold when traveling through New Zealand in a motorhome. And it was too cold for me personally in a well-equipped motorhome with heating.

Parking is difficult to find on the street, but there is an underground car park right next door. The rooms above the entrance have a view of the waterfall. That is certainly very nice. - The bike was well prepared and presented, in good condition and worked flawlessly for the duration of my trip.

Escape With Confidence
Unfortunately the house is a bit noisy, but overall we felt very comfortable.
>
Floor.
Our room was comfortably and lovingly furnished in a country house style and included a comfortable double bed, another bed / couch, a closet, two bedside tables, a table with two chairs small flat screen TV and a shower cubicle in the room with a sink next door - the toilet of the hosts should be used.
Our certified self contained and standard campervans have the same basic design as described below, with the exception that the self contained campervans also have a portable toilet, which is located in the rear of the motorhome and one Abwasserauf catch container located underneath the van.
Judy is a very warm and friendly host. The house is very stylish and very clean. I really liked the pretty windows and the view of the beautiful garden. In the city center or I am employed in turning circles and in management. In New Zealand, all vehicles have to go to the TĂśV every 6 months and are checked in a 'pre-hire check' between each rental. Even if our budget models (2003+ year of construction) are somewhat older, we can guarantee that our vehicles will be delivered in a very good and mechanically perfect condition. Should there still be problems on the way, we will provide a toll-free number (which we will answer directly). In your case, we would have checked the dampers and, if necessary, had them replaced (the repair would have taken a maximum of 1 hour). Get on the number 10 or 29 bus to get to us. This will take you to the city center. From there it is about a 15-20 minute walk to us. When you arrive at Auckland Airport, you can either call 'Discount Taxis' once you have picked up your bags and cleared customs.

In the end we used the toilet. Since we were looked at weird that we are not really. The toilet was unfortunately not clean and well maintained. a bedroom and ensuite bathroom and a living room, there is also a smaller room with 2 single beds and a bathroom in the hallway.

Located just outside Auckland, the Northland region is waiting to be discovered. The coastal areas around Whangarei and Mangawhai offer pure postcard idyll and are regions in which the kiwis themselves like to spend their holidays. A camping holiday in beautiful coastal landscapes can hardly be more beautiful than at the other end of the world. Many campervan fans rent a motorhome there on the South Island to explore the amazing landscape. Camper rentals in New Zealand are increasing rapidly because both tourists and locals go on vacation. Especially over Christmas and New Year's Eve, the prices are disproportionately high. I have some important tips that you should definitely consider when renting a campervan in New Zealand. Because you can save a lot of money. Overtaking on sections of road with a yellow line is not permitted, as overtaking on these routes is too dangerous. Speed limits should be adhered to. Maximum speed outside a town / city area is 100 km / h, in the city area at 50 km / h.

Camper New Zealand Rentals: Food & Co. Costs
Rafting is possible in Kaitiaki Adventures Park on Lake Rotorua and an absolute recommendation. This overview of the costs of our New Zealand vacation corresponds to our personal experiences.
How many sheep are there in New Zealand?
All in all, the New Zealand costs for my husband Florian and me together amounted to around 3,000 euros. That makes about € 1,500 per person over four weeks, which roughly corresponds to a daily budget of € 50 per nose. These are also the travel expenses with which we both calculated at the beginning of our trip. This minimum rental period increases to 7 days for all rentals between May 1st and September 30th and to 14 days for all 4 and 6 bed camper rentals between the 15th
Tumblr media
The prices vary depending on the length of the camper. Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park is often hailed as one of the most beautiful places in the world, and it keeps that promise! Every year maui equips most of the NEW motorhomes in the country - no one will overtake maui on the way! Our reputation as the highest quality RV home brand in New Zealand is based on the superior quality of our vehicles and services, which we have provided for 25 years.

Getting Away From The Anxieties Of Everyday Life With New Zealand Camping
Getting Away From The Anxieties Of Everyday Life With Camping Would you like to go camping in New Zealand, but lack the available funds to do so? If you answered yes, then don't worry. You cans till go camping in New Zealand Maui campervans without spending a lot of money. All you need to go camping in New Zealand is affordable equipment, and this article can help you find that equipment. Reserve your spot at a campground as soon as possible. Particularly in the summer, many people are interested in camping with their families. If you make your reservation in the winter, you are much more likely to get the best rate possible. Those savings can translate into additional family fun while on your vacation. Do plenty of research on your camping site and ensure that it offers everything that your group will need. Consider the individual needs of each camper to ensure that everyone is taken care of. This alleviates the need to make supply runs, or worst case, have to end the trip too soon. Know what is available in the area around your campsite. You may get lucky and have beautiful weather the entire time. However, you may also face inclement weather, too. Have a backup plan in case you need a diversion. This is particularly crucial if you have kids, but adults need a little entertainment as well! Before you start out on that relaxing New Zealand camping trip, it is essential for your safety to make sure to let someone know you are going. Give a friend or neighbor the name of the campsite if you are using one. If you are headed out on a less structured trip, give your contact a general idea of where you are headed and a timeline for your return. If something goes wrong, there will be someone to know where to look for you. If you are camping in the summer, go swimming too. When you go camping in New Zealand, you can miss out on things like showers. Spending some time in cool water can help you stay clean and refresh your spirits, so a little swimming can soothe the part of your heart longing for a bath. When you reach your campsite, the first thing, you should do is to start collecting wood for your fire. You won't feel like it later on, and if you wait until dark you will have a harder time finding the kind of wood you need to keep a fire going. Do it right away. Bring enough food and snack items to last you throughout the whole trip. You don't want to spend your time going to get food every meal, enjoy yourself while you are camping. Bring cereal, hot dogs, and all of your other favorite food items that will fuel you throughout your trip. Unless you are going to be spending a significant amount of time camping, buying expensive sleeping bags is really unnecessary. Even if your old and musty sleeping bag is rated for below freezing temperatures, it is excellent padding for the ground even when it is hot outside and you will feel comfortable sleeping on it. In this modern age, there is no excuse for being in the woods without some form of communication ability. Of course, no one likes to receive phone calls when they are relaxing, so leave your phone off but fully charged, just in case there is an emergency, and you need to contact someone. Duct tape can be a camper's very best friend. When disaster strikes on a New Zealand camping trip, a roll of heavy-duty duct tape will usually save the day. If the tent fabric needs patching in the rain, duct tape will hold back the water. When tent poles need reinforcing, the duct tape will provide support. Do you have holes in your tennis shoes? Duct tape right over it. Whatever the mishap, a roll of duct tape is sure to help! Be mindful of the environment when you go camping in New Zealand. Whatever you carry into a campsite, make sure that you remove it when you leave. This will eliminate litter and protect the natural environment. Before leaving, the area you have inhabited should be as clean as you would want it if you were just arriving to camp there that day. As you can now see, it's pretty easy to go camping in New Zealand while working with a limited budget. There is affordable camping equipment out there for anyone to use, all you have to do is find it and buy it. You feel better knowing that your New Zealand camping trip didn't cost you an arm and a leg.
