When people suggest that Trevor is healthier for Ian I only feel blind range because he wasn’t. not at all. I get that what Mick did in the earlier seasons was wrong but he had reasons and he has attempted to make up for them and has worked hard to be good for Ian. Trevor did NOTHING for Ian. Unless you consider forcing him into a sexual relationship that Ian was clearly uncomfortable with or telling Ian he should just ‘get over and move on” from everything his mom ever did wrong was healthier?

Yeah. I don't hate Trevor as much as some people do but he defintely did plenty of things that didn't sit right with me. Telling Ian to get over his mother abandoning him was the worst thing for me for personal reasons but I also didn't like how he kept pushing for Ian to bottom despite Ian's clear discomfort with it. (And then framing that pushing as him trying to make Ian more socially aware lol). It was very manipulative imo. And Ian wasn't the best to him either. He cheated on him with little remorse and then acted sort of entitled to his forgiveness in S8. (And unlike in S5, Ian was fully in his right mind and not manic when he cheated on Trevor). And it was made abundantly clear that Trevor didn't get Ian like, at all. I don't know how people look at that relationship and call it healthy lol.

I feel like some people (mostly casual viewers) look at Mickey and only see seasons 1-3. He did shitty things during that period but he's done more than enough to make up for it. He fought so hard for Ian during seasons 4-5. He came out in front of his dangerously homophobic father so he could be with Ian. A lot of people probably would have walked away from Ian in S5 but Mickey ultimately didn't. He forgave Ian for the things he did while he was manic and continued to fight for their relationship. And even after Ian tossed him aside and left him to rot in prison alone he still came back for Ian, twice. The second time to get himself locked up so he could be in prison with Ian. This man loves Ian Gallagher SO MUCH. He would probably literally take a bullet for him. And some people still look at him and only see a toxic thug who doesn't deserve Ian. I will NEVER understand that. Nobody is ever gonna love Ian as much as Mickey. If you really care about Ian as a character you should want him with Mickey imo lol.

And even his character development aside, I also won't ever understand how some people can look at Mickey's story and not have sympathy for him, even when he was at his worst. His story is legit one of the more heartbreaking ones on Shameless. And I hope to god they finally let him rest and get his happy ending.
