My thoughts on Veilguard (no spoilers)
I enjoyed this game. There is inclusion of some good lore - if you consumed the books and/or comics, you will find them mentioned! Some of the writing is weak, and I have decided to base this entirely on Mary Kirby's being "laid off" (JUSTICE FOR MARY KIRBY). I would have liked to see more overt references to DA2 and DA:0/A. There is also some missing aspects that feel very absent if you are a long-time series fan.
The game functions well (which has been a problem with Triple As recently, as in, releasing games that still have oodles of bugs). I also think it is a beautiful game. The soundtrack is not as good as any other title, but does include quotations and variations on other title tracks, which I am a fan of.
There were opportunities that would have made this a standout game that were completely missed, IMO, but I think we could still be looking at GOTY material.
My favorite addition BY FAR is party banter not being lost to combat interruptions. God bless Bioware for figuring that shit out.

When Veilguard comes out, please keep it in the back of your mind every single time you interact with Varric and Lucanis that their writer got laid off with little to no warning and that she is and always will be a Dragon Age legend and one of the reasons why the franchise has stayed afloat for as long as it has

I don't really listen to Bambu that much these days or nearly as much conscious hip hop as I used to but I think part of what has stuck with me so much about his music specifically to me is he very sincerely represents the evolution from a kinda corny but very adamant young communist to a jaded, less optimistic but still hopeful seasoned communist. Prey for the Devil definitely has it but especially on Exrcising a Demon he's still rapping about injustice and fighting oppression but he's clear that he's still consumed by his own anger and trauma and that fighting for his own family's survival occupies so much more of his day to day than organizing marches and unions and militancy. He's disillusioned with much of the Left that he's spent his life organizing with and isn't as interesting in just rapping to send a message. The song Polite is the most clear expression of this but its everywhere in his music after 2016. And while I can't claim nearly the same level of experience he's had i feel like I can confidently say a lot of us who've been communists for long enough feel the same fucking way.

i think people meme on places like Iowa and Ohio being empty but did you know that over 90% of their pre-colonial wetlands have been destroyed, mostly for agricultural purposes?
That's where the Great Black Swamp used to be. it's gone now. it was destroyed methodically and intentionally by settlers to create "productive" farmland. extremely productive farmland from which nitrogenous waste floods lake erie and causes deadly algal blooms. the "ugly" and "empty" places in the United States were manufactured. this country is literally a blight on the face of the earth.

Origins: Only the Magisters have ever walked physically in the Fade. Such a feat has never been repeated, and the hubris of their actions unleashed an ancient evil on the world that terrorises Thedas to this day. I tried so hard to romance this man
Smells like blood, Spite croons in his ear. Lucanis sips his coffee and pointedly shifts his gaze away from Rook.
You say everyone smells like blood, he thinks tiredly.
Everyone DOES! So much blood inside them. Until it isn't! No, no...
Lucanis tries to ignore the demon. Tries to ignore the way the sunlight catches Rook's hair.
But not him! Not just that. Something else, Spite continues. Sweat and dreams. Elfroot. Tea.
One of his few faults. Rook does not appreciate a good cup of coffee. Or any coffee. Too bitter, he said, makes his thoughts race. Oh how Lucanis misses the privacy of thought.
Ohhh. He hates them.
What? Who?
Rook! His hands! What they do. What your Crows did. The pain, the dark, death, scars without and within--
Enough. That isn't yours to touch.
YOU want to touch--
"Stop it," Lucanis whispers.
It is! MINE! He wants them to hurt. Bleed. Hates that, too. He wanted to be a healer!
Pain blooms behind his eyes.
MINE!! Spite growls with a fury so strong Lucanis flinches. He remembers, unbidden, his grandmother's cane. Spite laughs then. Or perhaps he's just screaming.
"Are you all right, Lucanis?"
Rook is looking at them. Him. At him.
"Yes. Yes, I'm fine. Just a headache. Spite heard a song in the tavern and I haven't known a moment's peace since."
The lie trips off his tongue easily, and they both know it's a lie.
Rook just says, "I have some tea that might help."
