Remember earlier this year when Boeing very clearly had a whistleblower executed? And law enforcement didn't even look for anyone or release any info about it or anything?
People keep comparing Luigi Mangione's case to the subway murderer who got off because of systemic eugenics, but I think there's something more apt about the fact that a CEO had someone executed in recent memory, with zero attempts to find a culprit, while they spared no expense at all to find (and probably frame, it's beginning to look like) someone who shot a CEO. It's always fine to slaughter if you're rich, but if you kill the rich, they will hunt you down.

If you’re a content creator and I go to your profile and I see some podcast interview-style video of you answering a “how do you deal with the haters” question, that’s an insta block. That’s a massive cope and I don’t associate with losers.

my only advice is to BE CAREFUL posting about holiday traditions around europeans. you'll post something casual like "anyone else watch the old Grinch movie every year? what a classic" and a european will appear as if summoned and say some shit like "funny how USAmericans always CONVENIENTLY forget that Not Everyone On Earth is from The USA…….. no of COURSE we dont watch 'the grunch' or whatever the fuck that is…. our tradition is to attend a community showing of Glummdorf the Racial Stereotype"

bad, depressing: well-insulated apartments of sturdy concrete and steel, with centralised heating
good, liberating: one thousand little houses made of cardboard and plaster, each running a gas furnace and air conditioner

Amazing follow-up to OP’s anti-intellectualism take on media analysis.
@werewolfhipdysplasia really great discussion about the importance of media literacy and how film can be used to tackle complex social and cultural anxieties.
And yeah boiling things down to snappy one-liners makes them basically meaningless. The tiktokification of serious academic studies and the refusal to engage in difficult or complex topics because they require actual reading, studying, and discussion. Dismissing what you refuse to engage with as stupid. So on and so forth, as is the nature of all of humans.
"horror movies reflect the cultural anxieties of their era" is probably one of the top nothing statements of all time. "scary movies have stuff audiences find scary" wow 🤯 what else do you know

the key to making this site tolerable is you have to block not only anyone you find annoying but also the people they reblog from and get reblogged by. zero tolerance, really do it with a hair trigger. i call this the 'grievance firewall'
