“The difference between peace and mayhem is velocity” Tujo Cole
- In my head there is a middle ground between peace and mayhem, and it’s not found in everyday life. There’s a place in my head, a bridge, where peace and mayhem intermingle and tangle themselves, creating a knot of intense and unpleasant anxious mixed with the numbing feeling of calmness. I sit in this place fairly often, paralyzed by this calm while a war of anxiety ravages my mind.
The album S/T by This Will Destroy You, or simply the YouTube video of their work synced with line rider, has been an easy portal into this place. There are times in the songs, where while I am struggling to lock my anxiety in a box, climbing on top trying to get the key in place while it shakes violently, there are moments where everything goes still. The panic is still there. The pain is still there. But I am at peace, even for a moment.
