Forgive Me 8/? For Everything
He was losing her. Once again he had been so caught up in his own life and problems, he hadn’t thought about her. What had he been thinking going with Sara to that dinner, and what on earth had he been thinking yelling at Laurel? He wasn’t even sure why he had said all of that now. He had yelled at her for not thinking about him when he hadn’t been thinking of her either. Worst of all he said he was done chasing after her, and that certainly wasn’t true. He was in far too deep to let her go now.
Oliver picked up his phone and took a deep breath. Usually he would have just driven to her apartment and talked to her, but he couldn’t bring himself to confront her in that hallway again. He was too afraid that he would lose it because nothing hurt him worse than seeing her in pain, and nothing made him feel as guilty as being the one to cause the pain. The phone rang a couple times before going to answering machine. He had expected that.
*Hey you’ve reached Laurel Lance. I’m sorry I’m not able to answer the phone right now. Please leave a message and I’ll call back as soon as I can. Thanks.*
Oliver tried to gather his thoughts before the beep.
 (Same phone call Laurel’s POV)
Laurel glanced at her phone as it buzzed. She thought about answering the phone, but then his words came back to her. I’m done chasing after you. The entire night had been a disaster and that had made everything ten times worse. She hadn’t expected Oliver to follow her around until she decided to date him again, but she also didn’t expect him to show up to her apartment with Sara. He kept saying how sorry he was for hurting her; he told her he loved her, and then this. She couldn’t talk to him now, not yet. She declined the call and waited to hear if he would leave a message. He did.
*Laurel,....I messed up. (sigh) I messed up a lot. And I can’t take it back. I want to, and if I could unsay everything I did, I would. If that helps. I just really want to talk. Honestly, I just needed to hear your voice. I’m sorry.*
As much as she tried she couldn’t stop the smile from spreading over her face. She didn’t know what to say. She wasn’t sure she was ready to talk to him, but she needed to clear the air. She has happy that he and Sara were together; she wanted both of them to be happy. She was not okay with him playing with her emotions, like he seemed incapable of stopping. Her hand hovered over her phone, debating whether to call him. She decided to text him. He had been right about her not thinking of him or anyone but herself. She needed to fix her life and her relationship with Sara before anything else. Reading over her message for the third time, she hit send and went to look up the nearest AA meeting. She was done letting things happen to her; it was time she made some things happen.
Oliver stared at his phone and watched it light up.
*Laurel: I know you’re sorry; I am too. I shouldn’t have yelled at you, and you were right I need to fix my life. I’m happy for you and Sara; I really am. I was upset, but I want you both to be happy. Do me a favor; have fun with her and please don’t hurt her. Hopefully, the next time I see you I will have everything sorted out. Thank you for saying exactly what I needed to hear.*
Oliver couldn’t help but grin. Despite everything going on in her life, problems and all, she was still the strongest woman he knew. He knew he owed it to Sara and to himself to see where their relationship would go, but deep down he knew once everything got sorted out he would find his way back to Laurel.
Side note: I know this kinda makes it seem like Oliver didn’t really love Sara. I don’t think he didn’t love her, but I also feel he kinda expected their relationship to not last. I feel like he was just testing it out curious what would happen.

Forgive me 7/? For Samantha
He knew he owed her an apology. He always intended to tell Laurel about William before anyone else, but he was trying to wait until Samantha gave him permission. Unfortunately, before that could happen, William was kidnapped. So here he was pacing around the lair trying to figure out how to apologize. The strange thing was, she didn't even seem all that mad. She seemed annoyed, but that seemed to be her default emotion towards Oliver lately. Regardless he knew he needed to apologize.
Oliver left the lair in search of ice cream; it always seemed to brighten Laurel’s mood. He took his peace offering up to her door and knocked lightly.
To his disappointment, Thea was the one to answer the door.
“Hey Speedy. Is Laurel here?” Thea gave him a knowing smile.
“Yes, she is. I was just leaving. You guys have fun.”
From deep in the apartment, he heard a familiar voice.
“Thea, who is that?”
Thea smiled again. “Why don’t you come and see for yourself.”
Laurel came out of her bedroom wearing jeans and a tank top. Oliver always loved seeing her so casual. It was a side of her not everyone got to see, and if she let you it was proof she trusted you. Oliver smiled like an idiot and waved. They stared at each other for a few minutes, neither one saying anything.
Thea interrupted the awkward silence by going up and hugging Laurel.
“Well, I’m going to duck out for a little bit. Don’t kill each other.” Laurel smiled warmly at Thea.
“Have fun.”
As Thea left the small apartment, Laurel looked at Oliver and saw the ice cream in his hands. She let out a small laugh and went to get spoons from the kitchen.
Laurel sat down on the couch and stretched out her legs while motioning Oliver to join her. Oliver sat down wanting to immediately start apologizing, but he still hadn’t quite figured out what to say, so instead, he thrust the ice cream carton into her hands. Laurel looked at him funny before scooting closer to him so the ice cream was in the middle.
“So, what’s the occasion?” She asked raising an eyebrow as Oliver silently scooped ice cream into his mouth. Laurel liked to think she knew Oliver better than anyone. She knew he brought her ice cream when she was mad or he was apologizing for something. She looked up at him patiently awaiting his response; although, she was pretty sure she knew where this conversation was headed.

“Laurel, I’m really sorry I didn’t tell you about Samantha. I promise you were going to be the first person I told, but she said if I told anyone I couldn’t see him.”

Just as she expected; this was about his son. What puzzled Laurel was that she was the first person he wanted to tell. Shouldn’t that be his sister or his fiancé? Laurel stared at him for a minute trying to understand what he was thinking. “Why would I be the first person you told?”
“What do you mean? It’s something I did to you, so you should have been the first to know.”
Laurel shook her head. He was trying to be nice; she knew that. But she wasn’t dating him anymore. He didn’t have to tell her everything first; he needed to tell Felicity.
“Ollie, I get what you’re saying, but I think that Felicity should be the first one to find out about something like this.”
“But this doesn’t involve her. She already gave me that lecture. Actually she broke up with me about it.” Laurel gave him a startled look.
“Yeah. I made a video for William when he turns 18 explaining who I am and why I couldn’t be there for him. She didn’t approve of that either; she got mad because I didn’t tell her about William, which I get, but then she got mad because I didn’t include her in the decision to push him away. Why does that upset her when she has nothing to do with him?”

Oliver knew that this didn’t involve Laurel. He knew he shouldn’t bring her into his relationship problems, but she had this way of helping him understand things and calm him down like no one else could. He couldn’t help but go to her every time he had a problem. He always had, and he was quite sure he always would, for as long as she would let him.

Laurel hesitated. She never thought she would be the one to help Oliver out in his love life, but here she was helping him fix his relationship.
“You’re right. She overreacted a little, but you aren’t taking into consideration that it’s more than that. You didn’t tell her something important. William would have affected both of your lives. Granted, I get this was a little bit of an odd circumstance, but she still has a right to know.”
“I guess you’re right.” Laurel smiled brightly trying to make him smile in return. He didn’t.
“I just wish she would give me the chance to explain that.” Laurel’s smile fell.
“The chip works. She put the ring on the table and walked out of the loft. I’m moving all my stuff out tomorrow while she’s at work. She doesn’t even want to see me while I move out.”
Laurel gave him a weak smile and put her arm around him, pulling him into a hug.
“I’m sorry Ollie. If it helps, I’m not mad at you for keeping William a secret.”

He picked his head off her shoulder and raised his eyebrows. If Felicity was mad why on earth would she not be? He lied to her for years. He cheated on her again. Anyone else would have been furious, but then again Laurel Lance was not like anyone else.

Laurel looked at the shocked look on his face and bit back a smile. Oliver always expected the worst to happen; it was kind of cute when he would realize he was wrong. His big blue eyes would widen and this look of absolute shock would spread over his face; it never failed to make her smile.
“I’m a little hurt, but I get it. You didn’t tell me when it happened, and that was stupid. But you’re not that person anymore. Samantha gave you a tough call, and I’m sure I would have made the same choice.”

Oliver sighed in relief. Knowing that Laurel wasn’t mad at him really made him feel better. He hated seeing her upset, especially when he caused it. After everything they had been through, she was still one of the most important people in the world to him, and he would do anything to keep her happy.

“Thank you Laurel. Now are we going to just sit here, or are you going to help me eat this ice cream?” He said as he put on a smile and shoved a huge bite into his mouth.
Laurel laughed and joined him.

They sat there for hours just talking and laughing. When Thea walked in they barely noticed. She smiled at her brother sitting on the couch with Laurel’s legs stretched out on his lap looking happier than he had in awhile. She always wanted Oliver to get back together with Laurel, and she was waiting to see it happen. But for now, the look on his face was good enough.

Superhero AU Leyna
Leo slid in through the window of his apartment and collapsed on his bed. He was just about to strip his suit and go to bed, but his phone buzzed.
Reyna: Hey what are you up to? I totally made too much food, and I know you worked late tonight. Have you eaten?
Leo couldn’t stop the smile from spreading over his face. His girlfriend was the best. He felt kinda bad about lying to her about his plans for the evening, but this was what was best for her. He told her he was working late in the mechanic shop, and that wasn’t technically true. He had been working late just not there. He pulled himself up to a sitting position and picked up his phone.
Leo: Hmmmm what did you make?
Reyna: Tacos
How did I get so lucky? She’s literally the best. Maybe I should just tell her the truth.. But I couldn't stand to put her in any danger.
Leo shook his head; he couldn’t tell her.
Leo: Say no more queenie I’m there.
Reyna: Funny thing….. I figured you’d say that. You never turn down free food, so I’m on the way now. I kinda wanted to talk to you about something anyway. See you soon! :)
Leo shot up. She was on her way. He quickly stripped his suit and tossed it in the back of his closet out of sight. He dug around in his dresser and pulled on a pair of khakis and one of this white work shirts. He ran his fingers through his hair, kicked off his boots next to his suit just as the doorbell rang. Leo made it all the way to the door before realizing his mask was still on. He pulled it off and shoved it in his back pocket and opened the door.
Reyna shifted the dish in her hands and tapped her foot nervously on the ground. Did he honestly think I wouldn’t figure it out? Like he’s the worst liar ever. She just felt like she needed to clear the air so he’d stop telling her such ridiculous lies. Her thoughts were interrupted by the door.
“Hey mama.” Leo pushed her in the apartment before swiftly taking the dish from her hands, placing it on the counter and grasping her by the hips and pulling her into a kiss.
“Hey” Reyna replied a little breathless.
“Have I mentioned how much I love you lately?” Leo asked a grin creeping over his face.
“You’re only saying that because I made you food you goof” she gave him an eyeroll and a playful shove on the shoulder. Leo tried not to wince at the pain it caused, but failed.
Reyna’s playful eyes filled with concern.
Leo tried to act as if nothing happened and started eating the tacos she had brought. He tried not to meet her eyes knowing she would be giving him a concerned look. He wouldn’t be able to lie if she asked what happened. Hopefully she could just drop it.
“Leo?” she started slowly. “What happened?”
Leo shrugged, ignoring the pain that shot through his arm
“Nothing I just banged it on a car at work still a little tender. No big deal”
Reyna rolled her eyes.
“Okay see this is actually what I wanted to talk to you about. Stop lying to me.”
Leo tried to act confused but his mind was racing.
Oh no shoot shoot she’s onto you Play it cool, act dumb. Don’t give it away.
“Pshhh what? I am not lying to you about anything.” Leo mentally facepalmed. He literally sounded so suspicious. She’s going to think you’re cheating or something.
“Leo please spare me okay. I know you’re fireboy or whatever stupid name the media is giving you these days.”
Leo’s mouth dropped. He wasn’t expecting that.
“What that’s crazy”
Reyna raised her eyebrows.
“You've ‘worked late’ every night he has appeared and I know that you aren’t working late because I pass the shop on my runs and your car is gone.”
Leo opened his mouth to protest or give some excuse, but she kept going.
“His power is fire and you’re literally always warm, he kinda looks like you, I’m pretty sure I saw you light a candle with your finger the other night, and if all of that isn’t enough proof, your mask is literally hanging out of your back pocket.”
Leo stood there and ran his fingers through his hair with a sheepish look on his face.
“You figured it out huh?”
Reyna’s face dropped a little.
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” her voice sounded small insecurity slipping through.
Leo held out his hand and pulled her into his arms.
“I just didn’t want you to get hurt, and I know you can totally take care of yourself. I just didn’t want you to have to because of me. Besides, I kinda liked the idea of being able to protect you for once. Stupid I know.”
Leo hung his head suddenly feeling stupid for lying to her.
She tucked her fingers under his chin and pulled him up to meet her eyes.
“It’s not stupid. Unnecessary yes but stupid no. It’s sweet Leo. I get it. But I would rather you be honest than try to protect me. You are helpful to me every day by being you; you don’t need to be a superhero to do that. I don’t need protection; I need someone I can call and rant to who knows what to say to makes me feel better and calm me down, someone I can goof off with and cook or watch cheesy movies.”
“Well I think I can do that. Thank you for not being mad.” Leo pressed a kiss to the crown of her head.
“Don’t get me wrong, I'm kinda ticked you lied to me. But I’ll get over it. Now sit on that couch so I can look at your arm.”
Leo did as she asked all the while wondering how he managed to find someone so great.
“Also suggestion for you learn how to lie because news flash moron: You don’t dislocate your shoulder ‘hitting it on a car’. At least try to sound believable.” Reyna pressed a quick kiss to his lips and left to get some ice.
He was such an idiot, but he was her idiot and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Besides dating a superhero kinda awesome.

Forgive me 6/? For raising Sara from the Dead
Laurel had been hearing Oliver apologize continuously since he returned from the island, and now it was her turn. She had messed up -- big time. Not only had she gone to Nanda Parbat and brought Sara back, she had lost her. Not only did she lose Sara, but Sara wasn't exactly in her right mind. Thankfully, one of Oliver's odd friends helped them restore Sara's soul. Then of course she had to get into a huge argument with Oliver about it. He was so infuriating at times; he never saw how hypocritical he was. Keeping secrets and making reckless decisions was perfectly fine when he did it, but the moment she does, he calls her out on it. Even though she meant every word she said, she felt terrible. Ever since they were kids Laurel always hated fighting with Oliver. The problem was she wasn't sure how to apologize to him. It seemed he was always in The Arrow Cave these days, and he was rarely alone. This really didn't seem the kind of conversation to have around others.
Laurel sat in her apartment, nervously drumming her fingers on the arm of the couch, trying to decide if she should risk going to his place and him not being there, or wait to try and get him alone tomorrow. Her decision was cut short by a text. Oliver asked her to meet him and the campaign office tomorrow morning. On the plus side, she didn't have to find him, but she had this horrible fear that he might yell at her more when she got there.
Laurel walked into the campaign office with a horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach. She wasn't sure how to begin to make up for the things she said to him. Hypocritical or not, she shouldn’t have yelled at him like she did.

She was a little surprised when she walked in to see Oliver with a grin on his face. He looked happy to see her. He was leaning against the doorframe of his office smiling at her like he had just been waiting for her to get here.
"Hey Laurel" he greeted her cheerfully. Laurel gave him a small smile, her insides churning. She knew she needed to apologize first before he distracted her. Oliver had this way of making her forget everything she was thinking just by speaking to her. He would look at her with those deep, blue eyes of his and suddenly nothing else mattered. Laurel took a deep breath determined to get her words out before she got lost in his eyes.
"Oliver, before you say anything I want you to know that I’m so sorry." He gave her a funny look.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you I brought Sara back, I'm sorry she hurt Thea, and I'm especially sorry for yelling at you. I know you care about my family and I shouldn't have yelled at you like I did."
Concern spread over Oliver's features and he immediately took her hands in his and gently squeezed them.
"Did you think I brought you here to yell at you?”
Laurel decided not to point out that it was exactly what she thought. The concern on his face made her think that would probably be the wrong choice.

“Laurel, you were right I was acting like a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I do see you as an equal, but maybe I haven't been acting like it. I'm sorry for that."
Laurel took a minute to process his words. Was he apologizing to her? After everything she put him through, she honestly didn’t think she deserved an apology.
"Even so I don't know how I can thank you enough for what you did for Sara." She replied emotion flooding into her eyes. Oliver fought the urge to pull her into his arms. Seeing her upset did more to him than anything.
"You just did," He replied nonchalantly.
"Oliver, I'm serious." She said softly sounding mildly annoyed at him brushing off her thank you.
"So am I. Laurel, after everything you've done for me and my family it was about time I did something for yours."
Laurel stared at him for a minute. This was certainly a positive change to his usual philosophy of not needing anyone else’s help, but she wasn’t exactly sure what had changed.
What brought this on?"
"My campaign manager thought that me being seen with you would bring up my questionable past. And no, before you ask, I am not going to stop seeing you. Because he reminded me of how important you are to me, and I'm not going to lose you. You gave me a second chance when I didn’t deserve one; you have been there for me when no one else was, and I’m not going to push you away because a couple people may have a problem with it. I think that you bring out way more good than bad in me, and I bet all the voters will see that too. Cause if you can move on from my mistakes, then everyone else can too. I brought you here to tell you this because it seemed like something I should say in person."
Laurel smiled up at him. It was a real smile one that seemed to brighten Oliver's world around him. She really didn’t know what to say. That was certainly one of the nicest things anyone had ever said to her. Oliver always managed to make her heart flutter; it was one of his many charms that attracted her to him in the first place.
He didn't wait any longer to pull her into a hug and whispered into her hair "You're important to me." His breath tickled her neck when he spoke, and as he did her arms seemed to tighten around his neck.
Oliver wasn't sure how long they stood there, but he knew it wasn't long enough. When they finally pulled apart, all he wanted to do was grab onto her again. Oliver could feel the comfort she offered him leaving when they let go.
Laurel tried not to look disappointed when they broke apart. She frequently wished she could stay wrapped up in Oliver's embrace forever. He was one of the few people she knew she could let her guard down around. They had been through so much together, and they knew they could always count on the other person. Sure, they would fight. All great friends do, but they would always come back to each other. This she knew for sure.

Forgive me 5/? For letting you think I'd been brainwashed Oliver wasn't even sure where to begin on this one. He had never been great at apologies, but he'd gotten better. He certainly had been giving a lot of them out lately especially to Laurel, but this was a new level of sorry. Where did he begin: I'm sorry I let you think I was brainwashed and made it look like I wanted to kill you? Oliver sighed and put his head down on the table. The rest of the team, not surprisingly, wanted to give him some space. Obviously they didn't want to be around him right now; he expected that.
"What did the table do to you?" The teasing voice interrupted his thoughts, and immediately he knew who it was. Oliver hadn't realized he was banging his head repeatedly. He looked up and saw Laurel standing arms crossed, lips drawn in a tight line.
"I thought you all wanted space," he stated as Laurel took another step towards him still keeping her distance.
"We did. I did, but then I thought maybe I'd get lucky and you would give me an actual explanation because I think I deserve one. We all do." Oliver sighed at her response.
"I could give you a dozen excuses, but none of them would make what I did any less awful. I honestly didn't think it would come to this." At that Laurel rolled her eyes.
"And that might just be what angers me the most. The fact that you were never planning on coming home were you?" Oliver shook his head looking down at his hands. "Ollie, why do you do this? Why do you insist on going on these suicide missions? And don't you dare say to protect us because we both know the only person you are protecting is yourself." She snapped her frustration rising.
She was right. He didn't want to have to explain himself because he knew there was no excuse for what he did. He just couldn't stand losing anyone else he cared about.
"I'm sorry." Laurel just shook her head.
She came very close to walking out of the Arrow Cave and just leaving him, but her curiosity got the better of her. She wanted to understand him and why he did this. She used to know Oliver like the back of her hand, and, to a certain extent, she still did. There were just certain times that he did things that she couldn't wrap her head around, but she wanted to. She wanted to help him and understand him, but she didn't know how.
Oliver sat there for a moment trying to gather his thoughts. "You're right. I was being selfish. I just can't bear the idea of losing anyone else. I know that you deserve an explanation. So here it is. I needed your reactions to look real so Ras Agul would believe I was on his side. I promise I was never going to let anything happen to any of you. Although, I doubt that actually helps at this point. As for not coming back, I was being stupid and selfish and I know that. You were right. I was thinking about how I couldn't lose you and didn't think about the fact that you would be losing me. I understand that you're mad and hurt, as you deserve to be, but I really am sorry." Oliver glanced up to meet Laurel's eyes.
She looked almost amused. He had to stop the grin from spreading across his face because he knew this was not the time, but no matter what was going on she could make him smile. The look he was referring to was one of the cutest things he had seen from her in a while. She looked like she wanted to roll her eyes, punch him, and kiss him all at the same time, and maybe she did. As well as he knew Laurel when it came to how she felt he was often lost.
"You know, when you want to be, you aren't half bad at apologies," She quipped the amused smile growing slightly.
"That's all you're going to say?" Laurel couldn't help but laugh at the shocked expression on his face.
"No. I was also going to say that you're an idiot." He raised an eyebrow at her. "You're an idiot because you think that we don't get all of that. Oliver, we are a team, and part of being a team is trusting each other. You have to get that through your thick head. If you want this to work, you have to put in the effort. I know you are sorry, and I am too. I'm sorry that you feel you have to keep things from us. No, I'm not saying this to make you feel guilty; I'm saying this so you understand that I will not hold this against you, but I have a condition."
Oliver met her eyes waiting to hear what she had to say.
"My condition is that you stop acting like you are doing all this on your own because you're not. You have your team." Oliver couldn't stop his smile now. How he ever deserved this woman he would never know. No matter what stupid thing he did, she always forgave him.
"What about the rest of the team? They don't seem as understanding as you are on the matter." At that Laurel laughed.
"Well they aren't as used to your stupidity as I am; I guess. Give them time and they will come around. Just keep trying to make it up to them and stop acting like you're alone and you will be fine."
She gently put her and on his shoulder trying to comfort him. What she didn't say to him was that the reason she forgave him is that she knew what was going on in his head. He was finding a dozen reasons why every bad thing that happened was his fault, he was playing all his mistakes over and over and beating himself up about each one. She had been there before and seen him do it frequently, and it broke her heart. She hated the pain it caused her, but she hated seeing that pain on his face even more. She knew from experience there wasn't much she could do to stop him from feeling this way, any more than he could stop her, but she figured saying she forgave him would be a way to try. She sighed and began to leave the Arrow Cave to give him space. She gasped in surprise when she felt his hand latch onto her wrist. He stood up and pulled her to his chest. She only took a second to regain her composure before hugging him tightly back.
His mouth was close to her ear and his breath tickled her neck as he whispered.
"Thank you." The mere fact that she forgave him did more than he thought it would to ease his conscience. She was right; he did have a team now, and he knew he needed to bring them in on things and let them help. He gave her one last squeeze before pulling away and sitting back down leaving Laurel feeling cold.
Oliver ran his hands over his face. He didn't want to let her go, but he figured she needed space. Which is why he was surprised to see her get down on her knees in front of him.
"I'm here for you. I always am and nothing will change that." She squeezed his hand and against his better judgment he felt his heart swell. This woman never ceased to amaze him. He leaned forward and pressed a kiss against the top of her head trying not to read too much into the way she seemed to lean into his touch.

Forgive me 4/?
Forgive me for Sara dying again and for letting you think I died again and lying about it... again
"You know, I'm honestly having trouble remembering a time when I loved you," Laurel snapped and she walked out of the Arrow Cave.
Oliver let her words sink in. He told himself he would deserve her and here he was worse off than ever. They weren't dating, and quite frankly, they were a sorry excuse for friends at the moment, but her words still stung. He should have told her that Thea killed Sara, but he was so afraid of her overreacting. Which was stupid; Laurel loved Thea just as much as he did. She had been there for Thea. Why couldn't he do anything right when it came to Laurel? He had to make this up to her, somehow.
***
Coming back from Nanda Parbat, Oliver had one thing that knew he needed to do. He needed to apologize to Laurel, again. He hadn't gotten the chance to talk to her about Thea killing Sara, and now he was in an even bigger hole. Not only had he lied about Sarah's death, Malcolm Merlyn was responsible and he needed him alive, and to make it all worse he let her believe he was dead again. Oliver figured he was going to need more than ice cream to fix this problem.
***
"Just because I'm mad at you doesn't mean I want you dead." Oliver almost smiled at her words; at least she didn't want to kill him, but she was clearly still mad. When she turned to leave, Oliver followed her.
"Laurel, wait." She stopped. "I'm sorry."
She raised an eyebrow, wanting an explanation. He supposed there were many things he could be apologizing for. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about how Sara died. That was stupid of me; I know you would never hurt Thea. I panicked and that was wrong. I'm sorry that I ran off to Nanda Parbat and let you think I died, again." He would have kept going but she stopped him.
"Stop that. I'm not mad that you didn't tell me that Thea killed her. I'm a little annoyed, but I'm mad because you don't trust me to act rationally. I know I have made some kind of crazy decisions, but I would never hurt Thea. You have apologized to me more since you got back from that island than you ever did before. Don't get me wrong; it's a nice change, but apologies don't do anything if you keep having to make them." Laurel frustratingly brushed her hair out of her face.
"What do you mean?" Oliver's heart raced in anticipation.
"If you're really sorry about keeping things from me, then stop keeping things from me especially things that you have no business keeping from me," She snapped turning her back towards him to leave.
Oliver grabbed her wrist and turned her to face him. "Laurel, I do trust you. I just--"
Laurel cut him off again, "If you have to give conditions, you don't really trust me." Laurel walked away feeling guilty. She was never this hard on him. She knew that Oliver tried, and she knew how hard trusting was for him; but she was starting to get annoyed. She wasn't really mad at him, she hardly ever was, but if they were going to fix what was left of their relationship he needed to trust her.
***
He had to make this up to her. He trusted her, but she was right; he wasn't acting like it. He promised he was going to work to deserve her, and he would no matter how painful it was. Oliver knocked on her apartment door hoping she would give him a chance to make it up to her. Laurel opened the door and rolled her eyes.
Laurel was beginning to grow tired of this charade. He did something stupid, came over, apologized, they made up, and then did it all over again. She would always forgive him and always let him in, but her heart could only take so much pain.
"Before you say anything, you said I didn't trust you, and that isn't true. I do trust you, and I should start acting like it. So I am going to prove it to you. I am going to tell you about my time on the island. Diggle and Felicity know parts of it, but I will tell you any and all of it you want to know," Oliver stated, shocking Laurel.
He never spoke about his time on Lian Yu unless he absolutely had to. She assumed he had done things on the island he wasn't proud of, but she never pushed for him to tell her. She didn't want him to feel forced to open up to her about his torture due to her outburst earlier.
"Ollie you don't --"
Oliver cut her off and took her hand, walking her to the couch. "I want to. When I first came back home, Thea told me I needed to find someone to talk to. If you'll let me, I'd like to talk to you."
Laurel nodded a smile forming on her lips. The fact he was even willing to bring up the island was a huge step. Plus, she had to admit she was curious what he went through to change him so much. They sat for a few hours facing each other with Oliver recounting his time on Lian Yu. Laurel listened carefully staring at his eyes. He looked so similar to the boy who had left on that boat, but listening to him talk about his torture and seeing all the pain in his eyes, she realized how much he had changed. When he stopped Laurel took his hand in hers and pressed her lips to his knuckles.
"Ollie, you might very well be the strongest person I know." He gave her a small smile. "I had no idea you went through all that."
"That may not be all of it, but it's a lot of it. And I will tell you more in time. It's a little difficult to talk about, but please be patient with me. Laurel, I know that I have made a lot of mistakes. I know that I don't always act like I trust you, but I do. I trust you more than just about anyone, and I hope that I showed you that." Laurel smiled and nodded.
"Hey, we have time. If you trust me enough to tell me all of this, we can do it on your terms." Oliver gave her a grateful smile.
She could live with this. Yes, he didn't tell her everything, but he was working on it. He trusted her and that was the important thing. Maybe he would keep secrets, but given time he would tell her everything. For now, that was enough.

Forgive me 3/?
Forgive me for lying
Laurel and Oliver sat in silence in the Arrow Cave. Felicity and Diggle had left them to talk, but Laurel wasn't saying anything. He looked around at the costumes and weapons, anything so he didn't have to meet her eyes; he feared he would see disappointment.
"How long have you known," he asked after the silence became too thick to bear.
"Slade Wilson told me. I didn't want to believe it, but it made sense." Laurel averted her eyes.
"Why didn't you say anything?" Oliver questioned. Laurel shrugged and stared at her hands.
"I figured if you wanted me to know you would have told me," she replied softly, still refusing to look at him.
"I wanted to tell you every day, but I wanted to protect you more. I thought that if you knew you might be in danger. I see now how stupid that was. Clearly, it didn't help. I should have told you. I'm really sorry."
Laurel looked around. This is where he spends his nights. The room was cluttered with arrows and computers, but it was organized clutter. His suit was hanging up on a mannequin off to the side of the cave, and she fought the urge to walk over to it. She had spent hours wondering who the Arrow was and why he kept saving her and her family. Now, she had the answer: it was Oliver. The one person who knew her better than anyone was the Arrow. Everything was starting to make sense: why he seemed so desperate to stay away from her, why he was so clearly lying to her, the perpetual look of exhaustion that was covering his features; all of it was because he was fighting to keep her city safe. A smile began to tug over her lips. He was acting so guilty about wanting to protect her. Of course, she could take care of herself, but the sentiment behind it was sweet.
"Well do you know what that tells me?" Laurel asked walking over and sitting next to him. Oliver raised his eyebrows questioningly as a way of response.
"That you should stop lying to people and let them into your life so that they can help you," she replied, hitting him lightly on the shoulder.
Oliver opened his mouth to apologize but stopped when he saw the amusement in her eyes.
"You aren't mad at me?" Oliver stared into her eyes, looking for reassurance. Laurel smiled shaking her head.
"I find it very hard to stay mad at you, Ollie. I am frequently very annoyed with you -- but not mad. However, I do wish you would have told me. I get it; you wanted to protect me, but I can take care of myself."
"I know... and I'm sorry. I won't keep things from you anymore." Laurel gave Oliver a skeptical look as he answered.
"Don't say things you don't mean Ollie. You've always kept things from me." She tried to keep the disappointment out of her voice; she knew it wouldn't make him feel better.
"I mean this Laurel. I didn't deserve you before the island, and I don't deserve you now. But I want to."
Laurel's eyes widened in amazement. He wanted to deserve her. She knew he cared about her, but this was different. He was talking about something stronger, something close to love. Was it love? She knew she would always have feelings for Oliver, but she didn't think he would return them. Maybe he did. She knew she had to choose her words carefully incase she was wrong.
She took a deep breath before speaking. "Ollie, you deserve to be happy however that may be. Whether it's being with me or fighting crime in a hood, you deserve happiness."
"But you deserve better than me. I always said that you saw the best in me Laurel. You saw the man I could be. I want to be him and I will be." Laurel took Oliver's hand, and gazed at his blue eyes willing herself not to get lost.
"Oliver Jonas Queen, you are exactly who I think you are. Maybe I saw a different side of you, but I was still seeing you. I know you Ollie; I know the kind of man you are in your bones, and he is worth waiting for." Oliver gently squeezed her hand. He could tell her right now. He could say how she got him through the island, how much he cared for her. He could tell her she didn't have to wait for him that he was ready to be with her. Those three little words were sitting on the tip of his tongue.
He glanced over at her ready to say it and stopped. She was looking up at him with the same look she always had. A look that showed just how much she cared about him; he realized right then that he had to wait. Yes, he cared about her -- more than anything -- but the time wasn't right. He had too many secrets for this to work just yet. They had been down this path before. He saw now they couldn't pick up right where they left off, and that was okay. For now they would be friends because she too was worth waiting for.

Forgive me 2/?
Forgive me for waiting too long

Oliver had become the Arrow to save the city, and now the solution was right in front of him. It was so close, he could taste it. If he could stop The Undertaking he would have succeeded in his mission. He would be done; he could hang up the hood for good. One thought came rushing into his head. He could be with Laurel. Oliver let the realization spread over him. He had told her he couldn't be with her even after saying he loved her because he didn't want her to be in danger. Without the Arrow, it was just Oliver Queen. Maybe the Arrow couldn't be with Laurel, but Oliver Queen could. He had to see her. As he exited the club, he hoped more than anything that he wasn't too late.
Oliver knocked on the door of Laurel's apartment feeling a little nervous. She opened the door looking extremely annoyed once she saw it was him. He took her in; she was dressed more casually than usual in her shorts and t-shirt, but she still took his breath away.
"May I come in?" She stepped aside gesturing him into the apartment.
"What do you want," she asked shortly.
Clearly she was not really in the mood to talk to him. He understood why; he was the reason she and Tommy broke up, he said he loved her, and then told her that they couldn't see each other when she claimed to return his feelings.
"I'm not sure where to begin. It seems like ever since I got back you and I have been doing this little dance around each other. We get closer and then one of us pulls away. Something was stopping me from being with you but that something is gone now. I hope I'm not too late." Laurel hesitated for a second. She wanted this more than anything. She had missed him so much; maybe Tommy was right. It had always been her and Oliver; maybe it always would be.
"You're not too late" she said before wrapping her arms around his neck and bringing her lips to meet his. She didn't care what was keeping him from being with her or how he had hurt her. All she cared about was that he was here now, kissing her back. She pulled away and added breathlessly. "You're right on time."
***
Oliver hung up his phone and glanced back at Laurel. He told himself this was the last time. This was the last mission the arrow would need to do; then he never had to leave her again -- but he had to do this. The Undertaking needed to be stopped. He contemplated waking her up and making up some excuse why he was leaving so late at night. He took one more look at her sleeping beside him, and decided not to wake her. She looked so peaceful while she slept. Her head was resting on his arm, her hair pillowed around her tickling his neck, and she kept one hand next to her head while the other was resting gently on his chest. It was a little unlike her usual state of worry. He gave a silent laugh. Laurel Lance always trying to save the world, but tonight he would save hers. He pressed a kiss to her temple and whispered, "I'm sorry angel"
Then careful not to wake her slipped away to make her city a safer place.

Happy New Year! (au where you see the life of your soulmate)
Oliver usually looked forward to the New Year, if not only for his glimpse into Laurel's life. Being on the island caused him to lose track of time. It wasn't until he felt that familiar spinning feeling that he realized it was New Year's Eve. After the dizziness cleared, he wished he hadn't seen it. He was sitting on Laurel's couch where she was staring at some law papers alone. Laurel never was alone on New Year's Eve; he and Tommy always took her out. He supposed him being considered dead could kill that tradition, but surely she should be with her parents or something. Oliver looked around, taking in his surroundings. He had to know she was okay. She was the one thing keeping him going. As her phone lit up he picked it up glancing at the screen.
Tommy: It’s okay. Well we will have to do something another time. I’m sorry about your parents, and please don’t work yourself too hard.
Oliver was confused. As much as he hated to invade her privacy, he had never been one of those boyfriends, he needed to know she was okay. He scrolled up a few texts and quickly glanced through them.
Laurel: Tommy, I don’t really want to go out with you tonight. With Oliver gone we both know it won’t be the same. Plus I need to keep my phone on me in case my dad needs me to pull him off his barstool again. I’m really sorry, but with everything going on with him and mom I need to be here. Besides I’m not really up for a party I have work to do. Rain check?
Tommy: You shouldn’t have to take care of your dad like that. You should have fun.
Laurel: One of us has to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself and mom made it quite clear she wanted nothing to do with us.
Laurel: I’m sorry if I’m sounding mad at you. I’m just a little stressed out lately. Honestly I think I’m going to go to bed soon. Have lots of fun!
Oliver couldn’t believe it. Laurel’s dad hadn’t drank in a long time, and he was doing it again because her mom left. Poor Laurel. More than anything he wanted to wrap her in his arms and let her know everything would be okay. Why did he have to mess up so bad? He glanced at her coffee table and saw a picture of them. He remembered that day. She had been stressing herself with school and LSATS so he took her on a coffee date. She had stolen his hat and refused to give it back. They had looked so happy then; if he remembered that was just a couple months before the Gambit.
Laurel wasn’t expecting to feel any different this New year’s. She had been under the impression that Oliver Queen was dead. In all honesty, she wished she could see him right now. He always had this was of making her feel better, even if they were fighting. He always knew just what to do or say, and with everything going on now, she could use that kind of comfort. Laurel was shocked to say the least when she felt the familiar spinning.
Shocked didn’t cover what she saw when her head cleared. He was on an island of some sort, sitting with some man she had never seen. However, that wasn’t what shocked her the most. What shocked her was the item in his hand. The picture she had given him before he left on the gambit, edges worn from holding it, was clutched tightly between two fingers, as if he had been staring at it. She looked around frantically trying to find something to figure out where he was, but there was nothing. He was sitting on a beach in the middle of some body of water. There were trees and water, but absolutely nothing to give away his location.
When the haze cleared from Oliver’s head, he tried not to let the tears slip from his eyes. He was quite sure, no matter what the reason, Slade didn’t want to see him cry. He couldn’t help it; the love of his life was upset and he couldn’t do anything about it because he got scared and pushed her away. He had to get back. He had to find her so he could make things right. He had to make this up to her somehow.
As soon as Laurel found herself back in her own thoughts, sobs began to wrack her body. He was alive, but she couldn’t find him. She was mad at him, but he was staring at her picture as if trying to hold on to her. Her head was spinning and pounding, and she knew the only thing that would fix the problem was being in Oliver’s arms with him telling her that everything would be okay. She wanted desperately to tell everyone she knew that he was alive, and she would tell some people; but she knew without any clue where he was there was nothing they could do.
Every New Year’s for the next four years was the same. Some years when Oliver saw her, she seemed happy. Then he would see those familiar nervous ticks of hers, like twisting her rings or playing with her necklace, and he would realize her mind was a thousand miles away. Most nights she stayed in working on some case no doubt waiting to see into his life like he was waiting to see into hers.
What Laurel saw broke her heart. Every year there seemed to be more injuries and more hardships. There was nothing she wanted more than to save him, but she couldn’t. He never looked happy, but he always had that picture with him no doubt hoping by some miracle he could see her just like she hoped to see him.

Forgive me 1/?
*Can be read on my Wattpad link in bio*
Forgive me for Sara
Oliver couldn't sleep. Every time he closed his eyes he saw it. The look of hurt on her face when he had come back to see her. He hadn't expected Laurel to welcome him with open arms but he certainly didn't want to see her in so much pain. He reminded himself that he was the one who had caused that pain. Pain that, if he pursued her, he would cause again. He was taking up his hood and becoming the Arrow; that meant any near him could and would get hurt, especially Laurel. That's what he told himself, but that didn't explain why the very next night he was taking the elevator up to her apartment with a tub of ice cream. He didn't deserve her forgiveness let alone her affection, and yet, here he was about to beg for it. Surely he was crazy, but he knocked on the door anyway. His heart hammered in his chest as he waited for her to answer. After what felt like hours, and was probably only a few seconds, Laurel opened it clearly shocked to see him.
"Ollie, what are you doing here?”
His mind went blank. Upon seeing her give him that shocked look with her big green doe eyes, every coherent thought promptly fled his brain. She was still looking at him and he knew he had to say something.
"I know this won't begin to make up for what I've done, but I wanted to say that I am I'm sorry. I hurt you; I know I did. You have every right to be furious with me, but I'm asking you to please forgive me because nothing nothing hurts me more than seeing you in pain. I know that I am the cause of all this pain and I'm sorry."
He spoke as quickly as he could with her still understanding him; his words slurring slightly. He had so much to say, but he didn't know how to say it. He was sure he sounded stupid, but he was trying. He watched her think over what he said, and watched her eyes fall to the bag in his hands.
"What is that?" Oliver managed a smile despite the panic rising steadily in his chest. She hadn't kicked him out yet; that was a plus.
"Well I figured that if apologizing didn't work I could always trying bribing, so I brought ice cream."
Laurel tried to keep a straight face; she really shouldn't want to see him. But she had missed him so much and he rarely apologized. Yet here he was almost begging it would seem for her to forgive him. He still wore that same shy smile he always gave her when he knew he was in trouble. He looked different than the Oliver who had left on that boat. His hair was shorter, his shoulders were broader, but his eyes still had that sparkle in them that he always had when he was with her. A small smile spread across her lips before she could help it. She stepped to the side allowing him to enter the apartment.
Oliver couldn't help but smile; maybe she would forgive him. He took in her apartment; the apartment that could have been theirs if he hadn't been such a coward. It was exactly how he figured it would be. The table was slightly cluttered with case papers, the furniture all matched, there were a few pictures here and there, but his favorite part was that the entire apartment seemed to smell like a combination of citrus, which he knew to be Laurel's favorite perfume, and coffee. He followed her into the small kitchen, which made sense, considering as much as she tried Laurel couldn't cook to save her life, as she got bowls and spoons out of a couple of the small cabinets muttering something about wishing he didn't know her so well.  Oliver suppressed a sigh. Of all the stupid things he had done missing out on this was surely the stupidest.
They sat on her couch picking at the ice cream in silence. Upon approaching the apartment Oliver had everything he wanted to say all planned out. He had even practiced it a few times on the way over, but being here with her, made him forget everything. She was almost exactly as he remembered. She still fiddled with her rings when she was uncomfortable, still stared at him with her gorgeous green eyes when she thought he wasn't looking, and still had the ability to make him lose his train of thought with a single look or word. Finally, Oliver worked up the courage to say something.
"Laurel, I um How have you been?" He tripped over his words and inwardly groaned at how stupid he sounded. How do you think she's been? You cheated on her with her sister and let her think you were dead for five years.
"I mean. What I'm trying to say is that I want to say that I just uh wanted to check on you" Oliver ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. Why was it so hard to talk to the one person that knew him better than anyone? The one person that he could completely let his guard down with and he couldn't even form a coherent statement. Oliver took a deep breath.
"No, sorry that isn't right either. Not that I don't just want to see that you're okay. I just really wanted to say that I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry."
Laurel let out a small giggle. She wasn't used to seeing Oliver apologize or trip over his words, but he looked so cute when he did it. Oliver locked his eyes on hers, he hadn't realized how much he had missed her laugh.
Laurel knew she should say something. There were so many things she had been sitting on for years, but now, sitting here with him, she didn't know what to say.
"Look Ollie, I'm not going to say that what you did is okay because it's not." She spoke softly, her voice faltering just a little bit.
Anyone else wouldn't have noticed the way she took a second to steady her breathing before she spoke again, or how she stared at her hands while she talked because she couldn't make herself look him in the eye. No one else would have recognized the slight wavering of her voice as a way of holding back tears, but this was Oliver and he always knew her better. He took her hand in his and gently squeezed it. He opened his mouth to say something else, probably apologize some more, but she kept going.
"It's not okay. And yes, I was I was angry at you and hurt, and I still am. You made a stupid decision and so did Sara, but it's done. I know you're sorry, and I forgive you." Not wanting to see the look on his face she got up to put the dishes in the sink, and Oliver followed her into the kitchen. He was sure he was smiling like an idiot, but he didn't care because she forgave him.
"You do?" Laurel nodded with her back towards him. Oliver didn't have to see her face to know she was upset. He didn't have to look at her to know that her eyes were filling with tears thinking about what he and Sara did to her because he knew her. When she turned to walk back towards the couch, Oliver pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly to his chest. She smiled leaning into him; she had missed him. She had missed how safe his arms felt, missed the strong scent of his cologne, but really she just missed him. He released her from his grip and rested his forehead against hers, and gently pressed his lips to her forehead. Laurel stepped backwards to gain balance hitting the armrest of the couch. Her hands fell into the armrest as Oliver held her head close to his. Laurel didn't want this, it was too soon. She gently placed her hands on his chest separating them by a few inches.
Oliver rubbed the back of his neck as Laurel bit her bottom lip. Oliver was sure she didn't realize how cute it was.
Laurel sighed. Surely she was stupid. She still loved him but she couldn't do this, not yet.
"Ollie, I do forgive you, and clearly we both still have feelings for each other. But, I'm not ready to give us a second chance just yet."
Oliver nodded in agreement. She was right; they both needed time. He stayed there with Laurel for a few hours just talking, letting things try to get back to normal. He knew they would never be the same, but they could be just as good. No, they could be better. He didn't deserve her. He never had, but he knew that now. Oliver took one look at the girl in front of him and promised himself he would do everything he could do deserve her one day.

Flower Shop and Tattoo AU
Laurel Lance pushed open the door to the small shop, taking in the scent of fresh flowers. She couldn't believe what she was doing. She was buying her wedding flowers. She was marrying Oliver Queen. The idea still sounded so odd to her.
"So what kind of flowers did you want to get again?" Thea piped up from behind her interrupting Laurel's thoughts.
"Lilies" Laurel didn't hesitate a second before answering. Taking in Thea's confused expression, the older girl's lips curved into a smile. "Has Oliver ever showed you his tattoo?"
"Which one the dragon or the mafia one?"
"Neither. The one on his ankle." Laurel took the younger girl's confused expression as a no and continued. "When we were in high school Oliver and I got matching tattoos. We were sitting on your dad's yacht, and we saw these water lilies. Oliver started making all these cheesy pick up lines about how they were almost as pretty as me. It made me smile, but of course I didn't believe him."
Laurel's face fell a little as she continued the story. Poking her head around the corner of a flower display, she picked up an arrangement of lilies with a dreamy look on her face.
"We were walking around the glades the next day and passed by a tattoo shop. He made another cheesy comment and asked if I believed him. When I said no, he claimed he was going to prove it to me and walked into the tattoo shop. He got the man to tattoo a Lily on his ankle with 'my one' written in Morse code above it."
Thea covered her mouth with her hands. "No way! That sounds way too sappy for Oliver. I had no idea he did that."
Laurel laughed out loud at her comment. "I know you could see the regret on his face about halfway through it. I kept telling him he didn't have to do it, but he said he meant it and loved the tattoo. So to make him feel better, I got a matching one."
Laurel bent down and shifted the leg of her jeans up so Thea could see a small Lily with dots above it.
"The only difference is mine says 'my only' on it."
Thea's eyes filled with tears.
"So lilies. Got it!"
